  1. The hit and run is a beautiful play. As long as you have a good hitter at the plate that can handle the bat, it works most of the time.
  2. Is that you, J.E.? Come on, guys. I thought that was funny. Maybe I'm too immature. :( Who's J.E.? I'm assuming that CF that plays down in St. Louis. The one who turns routine outs into web gems. The one who everyone proclaims is gay.
  3. I probably wouldn't have done it, unless you have a big need for OF and pitching help and you have a good replacement at SS. It's easy to find pitchers and outfielders, but not so easy to find a serviceable shortstop.
  4. I was thinking that too. Is giving Neifi's right arm really giving anything at all?
  5. Its a good idea. I'd take either WM Pena or Crisp. I think they want Crisp for CF and Pena for RF for next year though. Nixon is a FA, right? Well maybe Williamson, Dempster, and a prospect gets it done. Wouldn't Pierre be a good fit too or do they have another CF? WM Pena could handle CF with Nixon and Manny on the corners (he was playing CF a lot when Crisp was hurt early this year). Not the greatest defensive outfield ever, but its not like Pierre is great defensively either.

  7. 4th & Goal selects WR, Javon Walker.
  8. :( By the way, do you have a BA subscription? If so, is it worth the money?
  9. You should write a thank you letter to the MLB.
  10. He'll get a total of $4.25 million this year, and he signed an extension in March which will pay him $5.5 million in 07 and 08. With a bargain contract like that, no way the M's move him. I'm living in the Seattle area right now, and I have had the pleasure of watching this guy play on numerous occasions. First of all, I do have to say it was a joke that he didnt make the All Star game, but not much sense in arguing that point since it wont really do any good. Secondly, Ibanez is playing out of his a** right now (in terms of power), he has always been a solid hitter, but I just find it hard to believe that at 34 he has found his power stroke. I hope he has, but I am thinking his big boost in power is more of an abberation then anything else. His slugging the previous thee years is at .454 and he is slugging .534 this year. Who knows though, still for that price he would be a VAST improvement over any OF in the cubs organization. With all that said, we have about 0% chance of trading for him. Agree completely with everything you say here...except I don't live in the Seattle area.
  11. Looks like Veal and Gallagher will join their top 100 list next year.
  12. Whats the obsession with Ellsbury? His stats aren't very great. There's plenty of prospects I'd rather give Neifi's right arm for.
  13. Thanks!
  14. Does anyone have a subscription to BA? They have a new article with a new ranking of the top 25 prospects, but you need a subscription to see it. I really wanna see their ranking so if anyone with a subscription could post the list or something like that, I'd appreciate it.
  15. HAHAHAHA. I never seen that before.
  16. Past month stats: .299 AVG, .867 OPS, 17 runs, 4 HR, 11 RBI in 97 ABs. He's still 24, so in a keeper league, not a bad pick yet. I just bought low on him in my dynasty league (although I did give up a lot to get him and Weaver).
  17. He's also 14-37 in his last 10 games with 15 RBIs. Does this ten-game stretch mean anything? No. But I think the talk of trying him at pitcher is a bit premature. Clearly he has things to learn, but he's a 21-year-old playing at High-A. Are we right to expect more from a 5th pick in the draft? Absolutely. But he's still got time to figure it out. He's supposed to have the athleticism. Let's see what happens the rest of this year. I have no problem with Harvey starting next season at Daytona if he continues to struggle the rest of this year. He's got an uphill climb in front of him, but I, for one, am willing to see if he can climb it before trying him on the hill. That sounds a bit cynical this early in his career. Which is why I said in my post that I'm hoping its a sign of things to come, BUT I'm afraid it's not. Obviously, Harvey has a lot of work to do. I just wanted to post some good news about Harvey for once in the past couple years.
  18. I started a keeper football league. We're doing the draft on a message board somewhere where you get 24 hours to make your pick. We're going to keep 3 players from year to year. The league is going to be run on yahoo. Some guys from here are in the league (B's, Roast, johnnyba). If you're interested in joining, send me a PM or email. We have 8 members now. I'm looking to have either 12 or 14. Draft will begin as soon as everyone joins.
  19. Yeah, who in their right mind would sign Nomar Garciaparra? The J.D. Drew signing hasn't been too bad either. Jeff Kent was awesome last year for them, but has had to deal with injuries this year.
  20. Harvey is getting hot! Let's just hope this is a sign of things to come and not just a 10 game hot streak (which I'm afraid that's all it is). He's also 14-37 in his last 10 games with 15 RBIs.
  21. I'll take Eli Manning. http://www.gatorcountry.org/wearetheboys/images/eli_drunk.jpg
  22. The NBA salary cap is a maze. I'm not sure why the Pacers get a $7.5M traded player exception, but the exception allows them to add up to $7.5M in salaries in a trade even though they are at/over the cap. It cannot be used to sign a free agent. For the brave: NBA Salary Cap FAQ Wow, that stuff gets pretty confusing. Larry Bird exception, haha

    Help

Why wouldn't Walker? Just because the Cubs are stupid doesn't mean all every other major league team will be stupid.
  24. I don't see the Padres making this deal considering Kottaras is their top prospect and they've been using the Piazza/Bard platoon just to pass the time until Kottaras is ready. Playoffs or not....they just can't leave themselves with that catching situation for next year and years to come. Maybe if deal was made that involved Barrett to the Padres then I could see it, but not just Maddux and a B level prospect. But even then Maddux and Barrett for Kottaras and ___________????????? Cesar Carillo, Josh Barfield, Chase Headley, Ben Johnson
