  1. Howie Kendrick has also been called up. His first time around with the big league club didn't go so well (only 10 games though).
  2. Yeah, which is why I'm curious to discover how they managed that. I'm sure 1908 can help us out with an answer.
  3. Ricky Nolasco, Sergio Mitre, Corey Patterson, Greg Maddux in the 90s, Steve Trachsel, Jose Molina, Kyle Farnsworth, Kyle Lohse, Jon Garland, Eric Hinske, and so on. Pitchers weren't included in his original stat, otherwise Prior, Wood, Zambrano, etc... would be included. There really haven't been that many hitters in recent years who have left the Cubs and turned into a success. Hee Seop Choi, Bobby Hill, Kevin Orie, Brooks Kieschnick, Doug Glanville, etc...were all top Cubs prospects who never really amounted to anything. I looked at BA's top 100 list since 1990 and not one Cubs hitting prospect turned into anything. Pretty pathetic...
  4. He's at least the everyday starter for the next 3-6 weeks while Counsell recovers from his rib injury. If he's performing as I expect that he will be, I don't see Counsell getting his job back.
  5. He also pitched briefly in 2002 and 2003 with Oakland.
  6. I disagree, Roast. I could see Soriano, Willis, Hunter (depending on his injury) and a few other big names being dealt. Huff, Kearns, and Lopez have already been moved. All of those are bigger deals than Matt Lawton was.
  7. How about sending the Yanks Jacque if they agree to take either Rusch or Perez off our hands and send us a decent prospect back? That way you can free up some cash. Now we have to fill LF too. How bout Frank Catalanotto. Very underrated and a platoon with him and Murton would be nice and not too expensive. Then you'd have enough money to get Soriano and play Pagan/Pie in CF.
  8. That's likely a 110-115 million team and I don't think the Trib is going to authorize that much payroll. I also think it's a little worse than Vance's proposal. Not bad, but the offense is still pretty weak.
  9. By the way I'd take Soriano and Pie/Pagan over Castillo and Sarge Jr.
  10. So how is it so hard to be Jim Hendry? How come he has to suck so much at what he does?
  11. I would love to see all this done. I think we would be able to get a little more in the Dodger deal though. Loney was just about off the prospect radar until this year and LaRoche is hurt (would it even be possible to trade for a minor leaguer on the DL?). And you're getting just that for a stud, fairly young 3b, very good hitting (best in NL maybe) catcher, and proven closer. You could probably get them to throw in Elbert, Ethier, Kemp, Broxton, etc. as well. I really like the deal with the Angels. I love Kendrick and would love to get him. I don't think it would happen, but hypothetically I love it. Not to mention that all these trades would give us a lot of money to sign Zito, Schmidt, etc... in the offseason.
  12. Seems like a pretty shrewd move by the Pacers. I dont get that. Can someone explain to me how that works?
  13. Does running 180 feet really make that big of a difference?
  14. It will be Dustys fault for not playing Barrett and Cedeno. The Valentin brothers are terrible human beings. At this point, I don't think Cedeno being out of the lineup hurts the Cubs. Although I do want to see him play everyday still so he can improve. you think neifi does more in a lineup than cedeno? i wonder if baker is sitting him because of the botched dp yesterday... No, I think they both are bad. Neifi's OPS is higher than Cedeno's, not that it matters. I just don't think having Cedeno playing right now makes this team any better. It does for the future and since this year is already done, I say we play for the future. I agree. However, you stated that it was Dusty's fault if we lose this game and one of your reasons was that he didnt play Cedeno. I was just simply stating that having Cedeno in the lineup doesn't improve us at all. I also followed that up by saying I still want to see him play so that he can improve and hopefully be a decent SS in the future.

  17. It's very high risk, but I'd like to see it happen.
  18. Julio Lugo wouldn't be too bad. I'm pretty much sold on the fact that Cedeno will definitely never be a top SS and probably never even in the top half of SS. Cat, Sheff, Lugo, Schmidt, Meche would make this team a contender. You could also replace Sheff with Nixon to save some money and maybe try to grab Soriano if you want to spend a little more. I'd prefer to just keep Walker at a much cheaper price, but I know it's not going to happen. About how much money should we have to work with?
  19. I wouldn't mind Sheffield in Right with a Jones/Murton platoon in left. Or trade Jones and play Murt in LF or another FA (Catalanatto would be a very good LF for the money).
  20. Yeah I forgot Mock was still down there. Micah Owings was also with the Smokies but got promoted about a month or so ago. Basically nothing incredible although Mark Reynolds might turn into a pretty good prospect.
  21. Miguel Montero is a decent catching prospect and Mark Reynolds is a pretty intriguing player. He had 23 HR and 77 RBI with the High A Ball team before being promoted.
