  1. How is he "not good at getting on base"? He's got a .346 OBP this season (at the age of 24). I'd say .346 is good, ecspecially when you consider how young he is. He doesn't strike out too much (26 Ks in 242 ABs so far this year), has a decent OBP, has some good power, and a ton of speed. If this is the best he'll get, then I don't think he would command "an arm and a leg", but he's very young and improving. He also has stolen bases at a 81.5% success rate over his career.
  2. I think it would cost MUCH more than that. Gallagher and Marshall are #3 starters at best IMO and Dopirak has his issues. I don't think we really have the prospects to get it done.
  3. Who's your 3B? Losing Sanders is nothing, but Gomes is a beast and Johnson is a pretty solid SP. I guess if Encarnacion is a big upgrade at 3B then it's a good deal for you.
  4. I went with Lopez over Cuddyer, because Lopez's big advantage in scoring runs and driving runs in (although that may change now that Cuddyer has been moved to 4th in the order). You mean Wiggington disappearing since the beginning of the year or since years past? His overall numbers are impressive because of a hot streak he had in April, but even over the past month he's been pretty good (.825 OPS, 4 HR, 14 RBI). He's not too bad for a 2b so I can't just drop him in a 16 team league. I want to find someone with a weak 2b and try to trade him along with one of my starters for a better starter, or something along those lines.
  5. I can only start 2 of these 4. Which 2 would you start? Jose Lopez (SEA)-@OAK (3), SF (3) Ty Wiggington (TB)-@DET (4), @PHI (3) Michael Cuddyer (MIN)-BOS (3), @PIT (3) Moises Alou (SF)-@ARI (3), SEA (3) The Hitting Stats for my league are: R, H, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, TB, OPS It's weekly changes so I have to just pick 2 of them to start for the whole week.
  6. Barton=overrated but Haren>>Mulder Kiko ain't too bad either.
  7. Fred Lewis-of, Craig Whitaker-rhp, or Kevin Frandsen-ss/2b are three kids the Cubs could realistically asked for, and possibly get, especailly considering it is "Loose" Brian Sabean still as Gm. But since these are the Cubs, I suspect in any trade scenerio with the Giants, they'd end up with Jason Ellison, or some Nefti Perez clone. I wouldn't mind Lewis, but he looks like a Matt Murton clone. Right now at AAA he has a .400+ OBP (40 BB in only 173 ABs) but his slugging is about even with his OBP ( 15 XBH). Frandsen has some pretty good numbers at AAA right now (.394/.473/.867), but I'd probably just rather keep Walker. Lewis, Frandsen, and Whitaker are 8,9, and 10 on the Giants prospect list by BA. The prospect I think I would target most on the Giants is LHP, Jonathan Sanchez. At AA he has a 1.15 ERA, 46K/9BB in 31 innings. He's also yet to give up a homer and oppponents are hitting only .137 against him. He's started only 3 games this year in 13 appearances so I'm not sure if he projects to be a starter or a reliever. I'm not crazy about him, but outside of Matt Cain, the Giants don't really have much to offer. Brad Hennessey wouldn't be a bad guy to acquire as a 5th starter for next year either.
  8. Good point...I think I would MUCH rather have Liriano, Nathan, Mauer, and Bonser than A.J. and Prior. Hell, I'd rather have just Liriano or just Mauer than Prior.
  9. Prior has yet to lose a game this season! Wood is absolutely unhittable right now. haha...wait :(
  10. I'd probably pass. Is it a keeper league? If not, Crosby isn't all that great, probably not even good. Some guys that should be coming up this year who I believe can step in and produce are: Stephen Drew, Chad Billingsley, Jon Lester, Jeremy Sowers, Anibal Sanchez, Cesar Carrillo, and some more.
  11. It is inevitable. And it makes me want to cry. That, and your avatar. :( It's a sad time to be a Cubs fan.

    Sexson

You can start helping your pitching staff by promoting Jared Weaver from your minor league team. I would definitely trade Shelton (instead of Sexson) if I were you. There's always the option of trading me Prince, as well!
  13. I'm not so sure about that. I think they just suck. Baseball is a team game in that you win or lose as a team, but it doesn't require as much teamwork as a sport like basketball, football, hockey, soccer, etc. I think this group of players (for the most part) are just not very good and not very good with fundamentals either. I think it has very little, if any at all, to do with not playing as a team.
  14. If you are going to sac bunt, why put in a guy who's never successfully laid one down in his career? I would have much rather seen Maddux brought in to that situation if you're 100% sure you're going to sacrifice bunt. Bynum sucks. His skills suck. His fundamentals suck. I don't understand why he is in the Major Leagues. I honestly think at least half the people on this board would be more valuable to the Cubs than Bynum. At least I can catch an easy fly ball and lay down a bunt.
  15. Not that it would have mattered because we wouldn't score anyways, but seriously, why not let Dempster pitch to stay sharp and increase your chances of prolonging the game?
  16. I'm pretty disappointed with the way the Bulls played in Game 5, but I guess their age, inconsistency, and lack of an inside presence really showed. They are the youngest team in the playoffs and when you rely very heavily on making your shots from the oustide, you're going to have games like that. I think they'll pull off game 6 and give the Heat another tough game in Game 7. I can't say that I think they'll win the series, but you never know. If Wade's "injury" (and I put that in quotes b/c I think his injury wasn't nearly as life-threatening as he pretended it to be) gets worse, we might be able to pull off a win in Game 7. First we have to take care of our business in Game 6 and hold home court. Beat the Heat!

The Bulls' best chance at drafting Noah was likely this year, unfortunately. I can see the Knicks being in the lottery next year, but not this bad again. Never underestimate Isiah's ability to make the Knicks worse :D  Sooooo true.
  18. And that ends that discussion. It's an excellent point. The thought just popped into my head after Novoa made the error. Yeah, I actually had the thought too, but those points Sherwood made are just too solid to argue against.
  19. Well I just traded for him (and Mike Young) in my fantasy league so I really hope he comes back...but not to the Astros. Please go to Boston! Pleeeeeeeease!
  20. And that ends that discussion.
  21. Wow, insane trade. Nice work.
  22. Um....NOOOOO. I'd prefer to not increase Guzman's chances of getting injured. He should have never started the inning. Um, he only had 90 pitches and was pitching well. He's a big boy, only a few months younger than Z... not like he's a 19-year old out there. 90 pitches through 5 innings. At that rate, he would be close to 110 pitches when he got through the 6th. Do you understand Angel Guzman's history? He isn't Carlos Zambrano. He hasn't thrown 200+ innings for the past few years. I'd prefer to limit his chances of developing more arm problems, than throw him back out there in a game where the Cubs were down 4. It was pretty aparent to me that we weren't going to score 4 runs and come back anyways. Why not get Guzman out of the game on a good note and with a decent pitch count?
  23. Damn, I didn't even realize he was still out there. This is a horrible, horrible decision. The guy is coming off arm problems, and you are gonna throw him out there for a 6th inning when he's already above 90 pitches!?! It's not like he's even pitching that great. yeah, but don't expect dusty to think about that. Which is why he has no buisness being the manager of my team if I were Jim Hendry. Well what choice do he have? The bullpen is spend as it is and our next day off is in two weeks. Glendon Rusch? Roberto Novoa? Anyone other than leaving in ANGEL GUZMAN. A guy who has had a bad history of injuries in the past and who I would prefer to be a large part of our future. You would really have Glendon Rusch come in to the game in that situation? Are you kidding me? Not whatsoever. You do know who Angel Guzman is? You do understand his history with arm injuries, correct?
  24. Um....NOOOOO. I'd prefer to not increase Guzman's chances of getting injured. He should have never started the inning.
  25. In addition to the pitch count issue, Guzman leaves on a negative note. Dusty was so careful to get Marshall out of the game before anything too horrible could happen and with a low pitch count early in the season, but he lets Guzman go out there with 90+ pitches. It's frickin unreal.
