  1. I remember hearing about the spousal abuse, mainly the altercation at a restaurant after Bradley had been traded. But [expletive], until I read this, I had no idea that his wife had died.
  2. Addison Russell celebrated Kris Bryant day with 3 K's of his own.
  3. In recent memory, Strasburg, Harper, and Prior were on their own planet in terms of hype. If we're going to count international prospects, there's Daisuke, Kosuke, Cespedes, Darvish, and before them, Chan Ho Park and Hideo Nomo. And if you want to stretch it out to 25 years, there's Chipper Jones , Ken Griffey Jr. and sure thing hall of famer turned cautionary tale, Brien Taylor.
  4. Can you think about maybe not bringing in Schlitter next time?
  5. Wow, until Javy returns, the Iowa roster may as well read: Addison Russell 24 Other Guys
  6. Chris Denorfia is coming off the DL today. In other news, Chris Denorfia is feeling very inadequate.
  7. He's the second coming of Jesus, only he can hit a curveball.
  8. Man, he really will do anything for a role.
  9. They wanted them to have a full day to bid farewell to Kris Bryant.
  10. So assuming Olt is in the starting lineup, our bench consists of Castillo, Szczur, and thenRoss, Herrera, who may as well be pitchers, and then Castillo and Szczur. Well, alright.
  11. Is he the one who pitched in the military?
  12. Not happening. Nobody is trading a top young pitcher for a package built around Vogelbach, even if he has a great year. Sad but true. Can't remember the last time a prospect came up that was universally considered a DH that had much trade value or top organizational value for that matter. Despite people saying "He'd be great for an AL team" and that possibly being true, I can't recall any AL teams grooming a DH in their system that went on to a successful career or became a primary piece in a deal. Only guy in the minors right now that I can think of who even remotely fits that description is... Steven Moya? Maybe? Only DH guys who are key players in deals are already established as MLB DH's. And most of them moved there after being completely obsolete at playing defense. Would not be surprised if Vogelbach winds up playing first for a season or two on an AL team if he's traded to one. There's also the leverage factor. Teams with a young stud pitcher on the block are going to have no shortage of suitors. Also, it's no secret that he has no future with the Cubs. If it comes down to actively shopping him, this is something that's going to come in every phone call. What he could be is a very enticing secondary piece if we end up trading Castillo or Wood.
  13. I know it's only 6 games, but there's something magical about a .192 BA with a .750 OPS.
  14. Has DJ LeMaheiu always been damn near the size of Morneau? Because I'd always assumed he fit the small, gritty, white man description.
  15. No wrist injury for Olt per Twitter-verse. Consensus seems to be that DL is possible, but for now, day to day.
  16. Because I was bored as [expletive] late last night, I found myself browsing AAA rosters and came across a Where are they know of the prospects we cared about once upon a time: Alberto Cabrera: Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers.) I'm still not sure why we let him go, but it is what it is. Rafael Dolis: Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) Now that I think of it, I kind of-sort of remember sending him to Detroit. Donnie Veal: Gwinnett Braves (Braves) AJ Morris: Indianapolis Indians (Pirates.) Ok, I don't know if anyone ever really cared about this guy, but I remember him being considered a decent throw in when we got him from the Nats. He's team mates with none other than Chris Volstad. Chris Carpenter: Louisville Bats (Reds) I thought he'd dropped off the map. Rich Hill: Syracuse Chiefs (Nats) Well bless his heart. I still remember Lou virtually dragging him off the mound, and knowing it was the last we'd seen of 'ol One Pitch Rich. Also on the Mud Hens: Ian Stewart. Ronny Cedeno: Sacramento River Cats (Giants) He's such a distant memory that I had to check to make sure it wasn't Ronny Cedeno Jr. Brett Jackson: Sac River Cats (Giants) If not for our current crop of awesomeness, this one would still sting. Scott Moore: Memphis Red Birds (Cards) I can't remember if we ever really cared about this one, so much as I'm shocked that he's still Crash Davising around. Josh Vitters: Nowhere? Apparently the Rockies released him 3/31. Kind of sad, really. Someone will scoop him up.
  17. I'm starting to get my eyes crossed when it comes to some of our lesser pitching prospects, but am I correct in thinking that Ryan McNeil, Josh Conway, and Tyler Skulina were all biggish deals when drafted?
  18. Early indications would have Feldman and Clevenger for Arrieta and Strop as one of the most absurdly one sided deals ever. Dare I say Brock/Broglio one sided?
  19. McNutt is hurt, he had shoulder surgery. It's been almost 2 years since he last pitched.
  20. I think we all did. I think Barret Loux did.
  21. Is it safe to say that Trey McNutt (remember, the guy we chose over Archer in the Garza trade) is nowhere to be found. Is it safe to say we've seen the end of him? Also absent is Dillon Maples.
