  1. If the cards are tipping pitches, how have they won 20 games? Am I misunderstanding the question? Ron Coomer said on the radio that the cards are tipping pitches he said Holliday was warning the batter it was gonna be inside. maybe he shouldnt have said tipping pitches more like giving signs to the hitter whats coming next? Isn't tipping pitches something unintentional? IE, Dempster would do his little glove wiggle whenever he'd throw a certain pitch (I forget what,) then someone told him about it so he started doing it with every pitch.
  2. He's been bouncing between AA-AAA with solid numbers for over 3 years now, so somebody does not.
  3. Yeah, most likely true. But these guys have to gell as a team. They will. It's QUITE early still. BTW: Russel blows me away. Where did the Cubs find this guy? which russell addison? we got him for shark from the a's last year. It was kind of a big deal, only guy on this board who doesn't know who Addison Russell is.
  4. This game is not over. No. Just the Cubs scoring portion.
  5. 1999 kent bottenfield 2004 pretty much everybody, 2012 Pete Kozma in the playoffs, etc. They're the Cardinals. All their players end up either good or dead.
  6. Maybe Addison Russell shouldnt be hitting 9th anymore.
  7. I wish we made Matt Carpenter and Matt Adams instead of Dustin Geiger and Justin Bour.
  8. Wada Is there still a guy named Jacob Turner somewhere?
  9. He might want to watch his back. Has he had a "quality start" yet? Be careful what you wish for, because you might just get Edwin Jackson.
  10. Because their fans are know far and wide as the best in baseball, and dammit, they deserve it.
  11. This is the kind of [expletive] that really needs to not happen anymore.
  12. No idea what happened, but Javy was at bat, and Gameday was all in play (runs.) Then there was a pause followed by Iowa Cubs manager ejected. Javy finished his AB, and after another pitch (foul) and an in play (outs) Javy was ejected.
  13. We are going to win today because when nine innings are up, we will have scored more runs than the other team.
  14. Why? Because there needs to be something between the highs and lows. Between our young big league studs, those on the farm, our FO's commitment to maintaining a strong farm system, and their knack for pulling the occasional rabbit out of a hat, we will be contenders for a very long time. For these same reasons, The Cardinals will also be contenders for a very long time. The Reds will remain on the fringe, and the Brewers and Pirates will have their moments. This year, The Cardinals have had a great start, and have built an early division lead. But it's May 5th. They have a potent lineup, but they're not a run away with the division in June and never look back. If Heyward awakens, they will be that much more frightening. For the time being, their rotation of Lynn, Lackey, Wacha, Martinez, pray for rain is solid but by no means fearsome. And yes, there's a a good chance that Tyler Lyons, who is probably their Eric Jokisch or Dallas Beeler, will spend the evening causing us to question all that we believe in. But won't Eric Jokisch or Dallas Beeler, who are probably our Tyler Lyons' do the same for our opponents at some point? Sometimes Mark Reynolds is going to be fed a tasty meatball at the most inopportune moment. Sometimes, Tony Cruz is going to make us hate life. Sometimes Jonathon Hererra or David Ross are going to do the same for our opponent. Because it's baseball and it's stupid. There's a lot of luck involved. But having good players tends to help as well.
  15. It's been a good 5 years since a Cubs game got me so pissed off that it kept me up at night. So what if it's early May, and in the end, a maddening 9-10 loss is no different from a 10-0 blowout. But it's called human emotion, dammit, and it's not always rational.
  16. we got lucky early on cuz pittsburgs bats havent fired up yet. this years team is not as good a team as the record has shown. face it our hitting is streaky and overall our pitching is just alright. we might get a wildcard but not the division. i just dont see it. cardinals are to deep a squad. and they have some fcking amazing karma for some reason. There was a poster not long ago who posted in a quasi-haiku form. Who was it? And don't say LLF or WSR, because he never posted in haiku form.
  17. We never should have traded Lou Brock.
  18. Maybe it would be less frustrating if you just looked at them as a usually well run baseball organization instead of acting like they have some kind of baseball genie hidden in the depths of the stadium. Baseball genie? Yeah, because everyone knows that pixie dust comes from genies.
  19. Meh; this was still a lot of fun. Lots of good stuff to take away from it. I don't really care if Travis Wood or sentient meatbags in the bullpen look bad. I'd agree if it hadn't been our best reliever who looked the worst; 2 days in a row.
  20. Especially when only 2-3 guys mattered and the rest could go choke on a corn dog.
  21. Remember last week when baseball was fun and not migraine inducing?
  22. If 4 K's in a game is a golden sombrero, what's 4 walks in a game?
  23. Early indications show that Javy Baez might not be dead.
  24. Everything sucks and [expletive] everything. There is no other scientific explanation. Good night.
