People were fairly high on him before we had real prospects to get excited over. I think there was even a Pedroia comp or two. Then he got hurt, and Almora, Soler, and Bryant happened, and his time as a thing came to an end.
My money's on Junior Lake. Not my first choice, not my last choice either, but he's done nothing to work his way back into the future plans. Being a right handed corner OF doesn't help his cause.
I was thinking that too. Until Javy returns, they're essentially a spare parts shop. Junior Lake's flame burns no more, Christian Villanueva's not helping his stock. Rivero's still worth checking in on from time to time, but that's about it.
I think he did. Dear God, why didn't Lou, Quade, Dale, Dusty, and that guy who was manager last year think of that? No wonder they were willing to risk tampering allegations to get him.
The problem is keeping a personal catcher on the roster that's now led Lester to a 7 ERA in 3 starts Bingo. The Ross thing is such [expletive]. Not even Theo can avoid an unnecessary meatball move here and there. It wouldn't be as big a deal if we didn't already have a noodle bat on the bench in Hererra/Mendy. And in 4 of every 5 games, we have Ross plus one of those 2 comprising 1/2 of our bench; and Denorfia doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of pitchers either.
I'm really not getting what's going on with Jackson. He hasn't pitched since 4/10. Either he's dealing with an injury, in which case he should be DL'd, or Maddon doesn't trust him as anything but mop up duty, in which case we're better off choking down whatever money he's owed and call up someone who might play once in a while.
Another reason why it's strange that they pulled Hendricks after 81 pitches I just feel like I see something like this more than 1.1% of the time I feel as though Jackson hasn't pitched in a very long time. Not a bad thing, just a thing.
