  1. Per Gameday, Villanueva was pulled for a PR after being hit by a pitch. Couldn't find anything further on Twitter.
  2. Is this really any more news than one of the AL exec believes will pick snips that come up every winter? A writer asks a guy for his opinion, then proceeds to pass it off as a lead?
  3. If the Cubs hadn't moved their high-A team out of Florida, their opponents wouldn't be getting into nasty bus accidents. That explains it. I'd heard that a minor league team was in a bus accident and several players were hurt, but didn't put 2 and 2 together on that.
  4. MB postponed today and tomorrow. Maybe a good time to send McKinney to Tennessee.
  5. Any chance of giving him some reps at 2B/SS/OF in hopes of him being a super sub? Javy and Mendy are no sure things anymore, so it's good to have our options.
  6. Hate that I missed this one, but the box score was like its own little gift.
  7. MB postponed. So no Underwood or McKinney today. Oh well.
  8. Null went 6, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 9 H, 0/4 BB/K. Which may be his worst outing so far.
  9. Another name for consideration; Wilson Contreras. Lost in a world dominated by McKinney, Schwarber, Torres, and Vogelbach, he's hitting .330/.402/.484/.886. He'll be 23 by week's end, putting him right on the average for AA, according to BBR. And he was kind of a thing when signed as an international FA for $850,000. And I think I've heard he's a solid defensive catcher. Could be wrong though.
  10. http://www.bleachernation.com/2015/05/11/cubs-add-righty-felipe-paulino-on-minor-league-deal/ He was decent at one point. Wasn't he? And he's not Brian Schlitter or Phil Coke, which is a plus.
  11. Random fact; Jacob Rogers is older than 4 of our regular big league starters and 15 days younger than Anthony Rizzo.
  12. I'm not sure why he hasn't been called up yet. I know he kind of didn't exist for 2 years, but he's 27 and he can't be much worse than much of what he have now.
  13. It may hurt to watch him lately, but it's infinitely more valuable than slugging a million at Iowa.
  14. that part I'll agree with. And if we somehow took the lead, would you prefer Motte be the one to protect it?
  15. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=0&season=2015&month=33&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=14,d Heh, I was using BBR and checked by league, first NL hitter K's, then AL K's, and must have hit pitcher K's by mistake. Still awful.
  16. I think it's safe to say that any juice Coghlan had left has been sucked dry.
  17. I'm nearly certain that was the Cubs 300th K of the season. The next highest are the Yankees and Indians with 265 each.
  18. Or injected. Get it? Get it? Get it? Because you know, Ryan Braun was suspended for PED use.
  19. [expletive], I forgot that Carlos Silva was a thing that once inhabited our team.
  20. At this moment: Anthony Rizzo (25) .327/.450/.577/1.0127 Kris Bryant (23) .276/.415/.395/.810 Jorge Soler (23) .281/.333/.439/.772 Addison Russell (21) .262/.286/.459/.745 Starlin Castro (25) .294/.317/.378/.695 (And this is our 7th best hitter in the midst of a slump) Miguel Montero (31, but under control for 2 more years) .292/.382/.477/.869 Dexter Fowler (29, possible extension candidate) .268/.339/.420/.758. Now if we were to get a few relievers capable of hanging on to a single digit lead, I'd feel very good about things going forward.
  21. Past 10 Games: Vogelbach: .263/.310/.368/.678 Schwarber: .233/.395/.367/.761 Baez: .205/.261/.333/.595 McKinney: .382/.488/.824(LOL)/1.312 And Edwards has 0/9 BB/K in his last 3 games (5IP) And then there's Mendy: .256/.319/.465/.784; which isn't horrible, considering the start to his season. I don't know what to make of Mendy. Should we just accept that if all the stars align perfectly, he's Yuniesky Betancourt, and if not, Jonathan Hererra or any number of identical journeymen like him?
  22. Am I imagining things, or has Vogelbach been going all Rock Shoulders on his ever since his not so prestigious Minor League Player of the Month Award?
  23. Just think, 80 years from now, we'll all be dead and nobody will remember this game even happened.
