  1. need to get there first They'll get there but our rotation is too unpredictable, offense is too reliant on homers, and bullpen is too shaky. We'll get there, thanks in part to an awful division.

  3. Dodgers Acquire Curtis Granderson https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/dodgers-to-acquire-curtis-granderson.html It seems like only yesterday when he was our annual offseason target.
  4. 2 run deficit and 4 innings (yeah, I know there's 5 innings, but their closer seems pretty damn good) with an epically awful bullpen; suddenly, I like our chances.
  5. Get rid of all these bums except for (currently) Contreras until he hits a rough patch, at which point he can go to.
  6. Is Carl Edwards officially 2017's Mark Guthrie/ Latroy Hawkins/Bob Howry/David Patton/Will Ohman/John Grabow/James Russell/Brian Schlitter/Justin Grimm?

  8. To follow up on the where are they now stuff, I dipped into the Mexican league rosters, and: Carlos Quentin, Daric Barton, Nyjer Morgan (and T-Plush too,) Willy Tavares, Julio Borbon, Kyle Blanks, and Chad Gaudin are all on one team, and scattered throughout the league are Jose Valverde, Sergio Mitre (per BBR, he hadn't pitched since 2013 before resurfacing in Mexico this season,) Esmailen Caridad, Junior Lake, Dave Sappelt, Jorge Cantu, Miguel Olivo, Endy Chavez, Yuniesky Betencourt, among others.
  9. I won't be fooled by Duane Underwood until he wins at least his second Cy Young award. He's like a poor dead man's Jake Arrieta.
  10. Oh, and Trevor Gretzky, Rubi Silva, Frank Batista, Starlin Peralta, and Mike Heesch are scattered throughout the Canadian-American Association.
  11. a) it's the Goldeyes 2) Millar took 1 AB for a promotional event, and Ryan Zimmerman is actually STILL PLAYING WITH THE horsefeathering WASHINGTON NATIONALS Quite.
  12. Apparently, the Indue Leagues are choc full of former Cubs prospects this year. I know that few people care about this type of thing, but I get a kick out of it: American Association Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks -Trey McNutt 6.56 ERA, 1.971 WHiP Winnipeg Goldeneyes -Wes Darvill .346/.398/.463 3HR -Tony Thomas .295/.356/.512 13 HR Also on this team are Ryan Zimmerman and..wait for it...Kevin Millar. Texas Air Hogs -James Russel 2.79 ERA/1.172 ERA Gary Rail Cats -Josh Conway 6.00 ERA/2.333 WHiP Sioux City Tony Campana .323/.371/.364 (same ol' Campy) Nate Samson .328/.391/.506 4 HR Josh Vitters .185/.220/.254 :( PJ Francescon 2.04 ERA/0.934 WHiP Does Andy MacPhail own this team? ATLANTIC LEAGUE Steve Clevenger (Lancaster Barnstormers) Other notable Barnstormers: Daniel Moskos, Lastings Millege Scott Maine (Sugarland Skeeters) Michael Burgess (York Revolution) Casey Colman (New Britain Bees) Long Island Ducks: David Aardsma, (notable non-Cubs) Alfredo Simon, Henderson Alvarez FRONTIER LEAGUE: Joliet: Rock Shoulders- .205/.318/.386 with 10HR
  13. If it's raining at Wrigley like it's raining here (Highland Park,) I'd get ready of a fun-filled afternoon of Rain-Delay Theatre.
  14. Any love (or even like) for Mekkes?
  15. Someone will scrape him up off the sidewalk. If Edwin Jackson can keep getting work, then anyone with at least one arm still attached can.
  16. Apparently, this guy underestimates the stupidity of the Brewers organization. These guys had Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Yovanni Gallardo, Ricky Weeks, JJ Hardy, and Cory Hart in like a 3 year time frame and still couldn't do anything with it. Whenever the Brewers think they have a window of contention, they try a little to hard to act like a big market team, and end up having that window abruptly slammed down on their hands.
  17. I'm glad we managed to cash in Candelerio for something. I know Paredes was one of the last things resembling a prospect in our once mighty farm system, but having a depleted farm system is a lot easier to swallow when you have a big league team like ours.
  18. Are there any updates on De La Cruz, or did he just kind of cease to be?
  19. I was going to be all like "they didn't; they traded Frazier" then I realized how bad their roster really is They have some OK bats in Abreu, Garcia, and Cabrera, but that pitching makes the 2012-2014 Cubs look like the Braves of the 90's.
