  1. Don’t give Mattingly an opportunity to rip a segment of clothing from the life-sized Jeter cutout on our watch.
  2. 10 of our next 14 games are versus epically lowly teams. I suspect that by mid month, everyone will be happy again. If not, it might be time to spend the rest of the season awaiting T.T.’s intel on the next international phenom.
  3. -Nuclear war has not broken out. -Belle and Sebastian, The Decemberists, and Okkervil River have each released new albums. -Nickeback has only released 1 album. -Hitler’s still dead. -I saved big money on my car insurance by switching to Geico. -Koyie Hill has not been inexplicably re-signed. -a Nigerian prince vowed to share his fortune with me. -Penguins are funny.
  4. If the cost is league min and a AAA roster spot, then sure, why not, said every GM ever.
  5. I guess that’s what I get for tuning out on a 10-2 deficit.
  6. That place is really looking like Wrigley Field Deep South. Then again, that’s probably how it’s going to feel for any visiting team there.
  7. I know odorizzis name had come up here a few times and most people were against the idea, but if I recall it was mostly because they didn't want to give up what they assumed Tampa would want for him, which was probably way more than what he was worth. But I don't think anything here would've been opposed to acquiring him for one prospect at the back end of our top 30. Yeah they basically just traded him for Zach Short, right? I remember like a year ago there were thoughts the Rays wanted an Almora or Cease. A year ago, Odorizzi was coming off a 3.0 WAR season, as opppsed to a -0.1. I know you never want to sell that low on a guy, but apparently, times is hard.
  8. I am satisfied by this transaction. A fine addition to our ballclub. A fine addition, indeed.
  9. My thinking is that his agent is just killing time while they play wait and see if the Yankees can free up some cash by moving Elsbury, and if somebody bites, then they bite.
  10. Lorenzo Cain might not be as exciting as Christian Yelich, but can you imagine a defensive OF of Almora-Cain-Heyward?
  11. If we couldn't have him, I'm glad he went to a team that is no threat to us. Or to anyone else for that matter.
  12. I am sad for Starlin.
  13. Yeah, I have to work in 4 hours and I won't be able to sleep for a bit So worth it. Actually, it's kind of weird. We win a deciding game in it feels a tad underwhelming... I hear you there. In years past, the day leading up to this game would have had me pacing the floors of ruminationville, but I’ve been strangely calm all along. I guess having a Series under the belt and a bright future ahead will do that.
  14. That series was very intense. I’m glad that we prevailed.
  15. Just thinking about the gut-punch dealt to the Brewers. With their win and Colorodo’s loss today, if only the Brewers could have hung onto that 6-0 lead last night, they’d have pushed a 1 game playoff to advance to a 1 game playoff.
  16. Goodness, the Indians are just out of their minds. 32-2 in their last 34, is that some kind of record? With Kluber/Carrasco to Miller, there’s going to be some very low scoring games in the post season.
  17. One team played like it was a do or die situation for them, which it was. The other team played like it was September 30th and the magic number had hit 0 weeks ago, which it hadn't. And speaking of late September, 9/21-9/28 will likely be a very, very interesting week of baseball.
  18. May as well just leave Grimm in for the rest of the game or until his arm falls off. Whichever comes first.
  19. Jimmy Nelson Out For Season https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/09/jimmy-nelson-out-for-season.html How about this? I'm sure they'll blame The Cubs and Wrigley. But that's what happens when you go horsefeathering around with amateur ass voodoo dolls.
  20. In the words of William Shakespeare, les' bury these [expletive]-roaches.
  21. Wasn't he a fairly notable international free agent at one point?
  22. http://www.bleachernation.com/2017/08/30/a-mystery-team-has-reportedly-emerged-on-justin-verlander-as-waiver-trade-deadline-looms/ With the odd timing of the Leake trade, it kind of makes you wonder if the two are connected- perhaps a salary dump to make room and/or acquire a prospect to deal. The Cards are 5 games back and have 8 more against us and 4, including today, against the Brewers, and split the rest of their games against the Giants, Padres, Reds, and Pirates.
  23. Watch the Cards get Vogelbach, call him up, and he hits 50 home runs by the end of the season.
