  1. I don't suppose that Jerrod Parker and/or Ross Detwiler stand a snowball's chance in hell of being Bosio'd, do they?
  2. Or as he's known in an alternate universe, he who must ne'er mentioned.
  3. Was the failure of Daniel Moskos injury related or a garden variety bust?
  4. You'd think that now that I know the outcome, this would be easier to watch, but no. That game 7 still has me chewing my fingers to the bone no matter how many times I watch it. I don't think I've ever gone through such an extreme range of emotion in such a small time. I know how Carrie felt; one minute, best day ever; then wham, horsefeathers city. Then after taking a minute to process it, she's all horsefeathers it, I'm gonna kill everyone.
  5. it's nothing like that really Maybe like a reverse Johnny Damon.
  6. We selected a 24 year old 3B from the Yankees organization named Kevin Cornelius in the minor league phase. His minor league numbers aren't awful. Also in the minor league phase, the Diamondbacks decided that they wanted Daniel Lockhart for some reason.
  7. Don't we still have Aaron Crow hanging around somewhere or is he gone?
  8. One day, Brewer fans will have debate on why they gave him up for nothing despite the fact that he was never in their plans.
  9. Some huge move by the White Sox, but for their sake, I hope they don't think they're done. Quintana and Abreu are the obvious candidates, but both of them are young and have 2-3 years under team control, so there's no urgency to move them now. The next steps should be to move Frazier, Robertson, and Melky.
  10. Looks good on paper, but if I had a $ for every time I heard by year X Team Y could be putting out a rotation of A, B, C, D, and E, and it ended up happening, my bank balance would look no different than it does now.
  11. I don't love this. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. Soler has yet to break out his "monster tools" but he was never given the chance. It feels like selling low, but another mediocre, injury shortened year could reduce his trade value. I feel we could have packaged him for someone like Archer, Odirrizi, or Teheran, but then again, if they could have, they probabaly would have. And then there's the emotional aspect. The overly drawn out saga that was the Soler courting and ultimate signing was the first big and exciting move to come from the new regime; a sure thing cornerstone at the time. Of course then, Anthony Rizzo was beating up PCL pitching and nobody knew what a Kris Bryant or a Kyle Schwarber was. Long story short- In a dark and dismal time, Soler represented the promise of things to come. And now that they're here, although his role has been minor, it will still be a somewhat sorrowful goodbye.
  12. I'm gonna extend the FO more than a one-month grace period after bringing us the first World Series in 108 years but that's just me i mean i have been one of their most vocal supporters since before theo was even hired and that isn't changing realistically ever. i'm allowed to not like a move (or rumored move). I'd have been reluctant to give Jansen 4/64. But seeing as Melancon just got that, Jansen could easily land 5/75. Don't even want to think about Chapman's cost.
  13. In other news, Aroldis Chapman, Kenley Jansen, and their respective families and agents are very happy.
  14. I feel we could have picked up any number of loogy's for cheaper, but if Theo thought he was worth $2mm, then dammit, so do I.
  15. Guys like Ross and DeLaRosa don't get non-tendered unless they're really broken.
  16. It's about ceiling vs. floor for me. Clifton's a fairly safe bet to be a big league back end starter or swing man, whereas De La Cruz is more of an all or nothing, who can just as easily be a big league ace as he could burn out by summer and never be seen again.
  17. I think that we should offer him a lot of money in exchange for his baseball playing services.
  18. He never should have left the island.
  19. They've got about $30 mil to play with, give or take, after arbitration if they want to match last year's opening day salary total. I just didn't expect 25% of it to go to a platoon outfielder for Almora. i thought it was an extremely predictable move Think not of it as $8mm for a platoon CF, but as $9mm, give or take, depending on what AA earns, for a potentially 3-5 WAR everyday CF platoon. JJ was worth 11.2 WAR between 2010-2014. He was injured through about half of 2015, but still managed a 1.6 oWAR with the Pads in 2016. His dWAR was -0.5, but that should be expected in your first season in a cavernous hell like PetCo. And I know horsefeathers like this is mostly meaningless, but he also has a career .297/.377/.442 at Wrigley. Besides, the only other money they need to spend is for a closer.
  20. Fie on those who dare question the decisions of Theo and his colleagues.
  21. The bigger problem isn't that they are unwilling to deal Sale across town, but that they are telling the world that they won't. That's just dumb. With as many trade suitors out there, the likelihood that he gets traded to the Cubs is low. A good GM says he will entertain all offers and make the deal that best fits the White Sox needs going forward. Not if the whole thing is a PR move. I mean, like TT said, the Cubs aren't gonna pay what the White Sox want. Maybe the Cubs have already told them as much. So by telling the media "we aren't gonna trade to the Cubs", all the Sox meatballs eat that up. The White Sox don't believe in rebuilding, and they're going to be looking for something bright and shiny that can be rushed to the big leagues. I can see the Red Sox offering Benintendi plus, the Dodgers offering Urias and Puig plus; The Yankees offering pretty much the entire hauls they received for Chapman and Miller. If we had a snowball's chance in that mix, we'd probabaly need to start with Schwarber and Baez. And that's not going to be on the table.
  22. Slotting Clifton at 3 is a bold, bold move.
  23. Highlight Reel of David Rollins Cubs career
  24. I'm thinking Leathersitch and Zaz will be given the chance to win or lose that job, with Rosscup as a dark horse. If none of them work out, we can just scrape something up between late spring training and early summer.
  25. What were they thinking when they gave a 1st Baseman with a .836 MiLB career OPS that kind of money to begin with?
