  1. then he was designated for assignment but interestingly enough has not shown up on any roster since
  2. More like (about to inflict a) beat(down) writers, am I right? http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/756124132.jpg
  3. I too picked Louisville to win and finished in 9th place. Out of 25 people.
  4. The late 90's saw the Cubs farm system on the rise and projections matched up with what eventually happened in 03/04. Of course, that prospect batch was extremely heavy in the pitching department and pitchers are unreliable, and even doubly so when you go out and find the worst possible manager for the talent you have in the pipeline.
  5. Was he arguing? I wasn't watching super closely but thought he just forgot Braun was on 2B and asked for a new ball. He was arguing, he gestured as soon as the ball got past him and kept yapping after the play was dead. Looks like he thought it was tipped but it wasn't even close.
  6. He probably figured he wouldn't need leverage to go ahead with renovations that he's footing the whole [expletive] bill for Everybody knew the landmark designation and rooftop/neighborhood groups plus Tunney stood in the way. The notion of selling Wrigley separately was a joke because of all this.
  7. http://deadspin.com/lets-watch-this-dunk-blue-jays-fan-vomit-like-a-champ-471290434 this guy is drunk
  8. He bought the Cubs. Wrigley just happened to be a part of it, but the value is in the Cubs brand.
  9. Ricketts talk of the clubhouse being top priority gives an indication that they will move forward with that project even before the deal is finalized, which just removes even more leverage. The more they spend in and around Wrigley the less they can even think about moving.
  10. Dead by 10 feet, Aoki got all the way back to 3rd and Valbuena/Castro(?) tagged him on the rundown. Castro was in the background and Valbuena took the throw and applied the tag.
  11. Don't really know much about either but from what I've seen I'd take Warford as well.
  12. So the self imposed deadline has come and gone. The home opener is upon us. Nothing to report. No deal.
  13. Soler and who combines for the corner OF? Almora? I was under the impression that he had a chance to be special if he could stick in center but that he probably wouldn't be much of anything special as a corner OF. I don't think that corner OF would come close to top 5 in baseball by 2016. I sure hope Rizzo is a top 10 1B, but some projections have him struggling to break into that level.
