    Since this post names Martin Short but leaves the manager unnamed, is it a wash or does it only count as a Martin Short post?

    They typically would have announced already and other teams (most?) already have announced. Maybe it's an issue with the new stadium. The A's say they are at the Cubs in a SS game March 4, but it is their only road game at the Cubs this spring. The White Sox site also only has them going to Mesa once, on the 27th.

    Yeah, his confidence was so high before this...you really hate to mess with success! His confidence level might not be high before this, but this certainly isn't going to help his confidence. Let's not forget that he's still very young and most of his problems seem to be mental and not physical. I'm not sure why we'd assume his problems are mental.

    Anytime you ask people to transfer, even once, you are giving them an excuse not to take public transportation. Buses help on the margin, but trains are what make a difference.

    Except when we traded Scott Feldman and Matt Garza last year? Arrieta and Grimm are not exactly what's being referred to by "MLB-ready starter" in these discussions. Assuming either of them can actually be starters. The silliness of this statement aside(they've traded for 4 MLB ready starters in 2 years), they've pretty clearly prioritized getting players near the MLB level in trades. For a player with Castillo's trade value, claiming they'll get "A ball pitcher(s)" for him is more ludicrous than trying to spin semantical circles around "MLB ready starter". And I think it has been a mistake to place "near MLB ready" on the priority list when you have such a drawn out schedule for contending. Maybe they didn't think it would take this long, but my guess is they would have put more emphasis on ability and ceiling than MLB readiness if they realized we'd still be where we are going into 2014.

    Nobody was talking about buses. Except for the person who said MARTA doesn't have any stops there. MARTA has about 1000 buses with stops at Turner Field. They were talking about trains. Buses are more or less meaningless in the discussion about train service to stadiums. Buses don't help you avoid the road traffic, which is half the point of taking public transportation in the first place.

    MARTA is a customer, and they most definitely have a stop at Turner Field. 2 in fact. closest MARTA stop is a mile away/25 minutes walking: http://martaguide.com/2009/06/18/marta-to-turner-field/ http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/atl/ballpark/directions/index.jsp?content=public_transportation i noticed this when looking into transportation routes to turner field from the atlanta suburbs earlier this year. Route 55 runs along the east side of the stadium, and route 49 runs along the west side. They each have a stop right next to the stadium and a couple more within a block. I am looking at their route data right now. train or bus?

    A) Edwards impressed others even more than we may have accounted for previously. B) While pitchers often get hurt Almora and Soler have actually been hurt and missed too much time to impress. or, C) Some guys are just desperate to throw an arm at the top of the list because they don't like the look of an all-bat top 5.

    I think we witnessed the downside of the press getting all excited for Trestman's "gutsy" 4th down call in the previous game. He made quite a few poor decisions in this one. The early decision to skip a FG and go for it on 4th again was poor, and the entire 2-point conversion situation was terribly run. Keeping a broken Cutler in there just topped the list of many weird ones.

    I'm 50/50. 50/50 on your preference or on what you think they'll do? I'm 100 on keeping Jay, but yesterday looked to me like a "give him enough rope to hang himself situation." I feel like they might be looking for an excuse to let him walk. What they'll do. I think my history on this site clearly show I'm 100% in on Jay being here forever. That's what I thought, but was just trying to clarify. I do think the team may be looking more aggressively to move on than I previously assumed.

    I think you have a fair amount of that one-time novelty crowd, but there isn't anything wrong with that. I know quite a few fathers that have gone to Red Bulls games strictly because of the affordable "family friendly" environment. The kids generally play soccer but there isn't much passion for the red bulls themselves. It's odd though, that I live about a 10 minute drive from the stadium but really have no idea when they play, or what their upcoming schedule looks like. I would think they would be more proactive to drive interest. We drove right by the stadium last week when going to a friend's house and I mentioned that I'd like to go soon. But my 4-year old was indifferent.

    And they won't. The choice is very clear: pay Jay, or accept mediocre QB play next year (possibly for longer after that, too). Yeah, they're really backed into a corner with this and I have no idea how anyone could think letting him go is an option. There are people who think keeping him is not an option, so I guess I can understand the less insane view.

    Why was raw the only one to figure out how to answer to question in the form it was asked? I feel like there really won't be as much turnover as we may be expecting. Samardzija may be on his way out of town, but I wouldn't be sure it will happen by March. They can't accept anything less than top return for him. I'll go with 5 or 6 new guys.

    Well, the Bears can still probably make the playoffs if they win all of their remaining games. So it would be nice to start this week while they are still favorites.

    I assume you are talking about a per game basis. This is not a particularly meaningful statistic, as those tickets are priced to sell and there are only 17? home dates per season. Hockey plays 41 home dates and tickets are priced at a higher level because there is higher demand. If 22,000 people attend one MLS game and 19,000 people attend one NHL game, that doesn't tell you anything about the status of MLS.

    Atlanta's problem is there really is no downtown. Everybody drives everywhere there, it's very spread out and traffic is brutal. The concept of a downtown, or at least city ballpark is readily available and utilized public transportation and an area where human beings want to congregate. I haven't been to Atlanta since the 2003 playoffs, but that was my 3rd or 4th time there and I remember it was a lot like US Cellular in that there was one or two pop-up bars nearby, but otherwise you aren't staying there. Atlanta is basically one giant suburb.

    Wow, some if you guys are more detached than I was this season. CJ's race and position was a relatively big storyline this year. Also interested in s&t loving next to Castro. Not sure what that has to do with baseball or why it's mentioned to public though.

    It's not particularly meaningful to include homegrown plus acquired using homegrown. Homegrown requires patience, acquired using homegrown is an aggressive move. And there better not be any older international free agents on that list.
