  1. I read it more of an FYI type thing, not something that should sway your opinion.
  2. How does somebody get into baseball late? If I wasn't obsessed with baseball as a kid in the 80s I probably never would have paid attention in my teens. I didn't care at all about sports until the rumors of Jordan coming back in spring of 95 got me amped up to watch the Bulls. The game he came back against the Pacers was the first sporting event I really watched and was interested in watching (I remember other games being on in the house but I didn't care all that much). That was when I was 12. Then the Bulls' season ended and the Cubs were having an OK year and the 95 season sucked me into baseball. Football was next that fall, with Kramer having that huge year throwing to Conway and Graham. I don't know which is more weird, getting into baseball late or being drawn into the Cubs during the mid-90s.
  3. I think I've looked at it the opposite honestly. Other than the idea that Girardi coming could have possibly sped the timetable up a bit, I've had no interest at all. Couldn't even muster getting too pissed with the Red Sox crap. Theo and Co are smart, I don't see any manager as a guy thats worth 5 wins or anything like that(unless you're maybe going Maddon to Dusty or something). Whoever they bring in, I'll be fine with. And its kept me from getting invested in the search. well, I was more saying that the process was interesting and reading how the manager position has/is changing. The actual names are pretty meaningless. What do you find so interesting? This same thing has happened many times before. This is boring as hell and largely meaningless.
  4. fat old Richard Gere is not amused.
  5. Prior to Monday's game somebody on ESPN was talking about how important it was for Brandon Marshall to help his young quarterback in his first start.
  6. I'm sure its already started, but I havent listened to much sports talk today other than 15 minutes of the Jay show. Jim Miller was dying to say something about it last night on the postgame.
  7. Slauson's grade was schockingly high, only because I decided to focus on a couple of the lineman on a new plays and came away unimpressed with him on the few I paid attention to.
  8. that's alright, that's okay, you can work for us some day.
  9. sure looks like it It's the exact same motif on the blue parts of the uniform. If you only stare at the red parts, sure. The blue is much less noticeable. Plus, it just looks like blue blood splatter. It really doesn't matter what the blue is, that doesn't change the fact that the red looks like blood splatter. Not to mention, the whole thing just looks god awful and stupid.
  10. He should have waited for Incongito to threaten him in person then "stood his ground".

  12. sure looks like it
  13. I think we're looking at the franchise tag, with a short-term offer on the table that Cutler won't take until after the draft shakes out. If they get their first choice, they will let him walk. If they settle on their second or third choice, they will keep doing the franchise tag thing and try and pressure him into an accepting what is his last best chance at a big deal that is well below the standard.
  14. I'd wait until week 12 or 13 before thinking about pretending we can figure out how these teams will shake out.

  16. They would have had just as easy as a time running the ball but would have also been able to pass. They slipped down the field like a hot knife through butter that first time. I have no idea how anybody can think he wouldn't have shredded them. That defense is abysmal.
  17. I really liked this Gruden quote. Everybody involved in the broadcast seemed to misspeak on several occasions, mixing up the Bears and Packers and their respective players. Weirding out about the late penalty and how it "saved a timeout" for GB and other stuff.
  18. Speculation was a couple more weeks.
  19. How does somebody get into baseball late? If I wasn't obsessed with baseball as a kid in the 80s I probably never would have paid attention in my teens.
  20. Sweet slate of non-Sunday primetime games.
  21. Belichick against Manning only other time I can think of. Didn't work then. I was happy about the decision to go for it although not so thrilled about the actual play call. Thank god it worked, though. Huge, huge win for the Bears last night. Things seem a little bit better when you have scoreboard over the Packers, especially at Lambeau. I was scared to death about going for it and probably would have chickened out myself, but the play call was good. There was no way they were gaining anything up the middle.
  22. gooney saw it coming What? Is this about the silly thinking that what the offense did yesterday was shocking? Because it wasn't shocking. Anybody who pretends it was just hasn't paid attention to the Bears this season. That was going to be a high scoring loss until Rodgers went down. Instead it was a medium scoring win. McCown barely completed 50% of his passes and was under 300 yards with 2 touchdowns. It was against a weak pass defense and they still relied on Matt Forte very heavily. And why do people put an "e" in there?
  23. Agreed. Before this game I thought the Bears were destined for 6-10, 7-9. Now I think they could finish anywhere from 8-8 to 10-6 Naw, they were never going to finish that bad with the teams left on the schedule. 8 wins was probably the minimum, even with McCown playing multiple games. The issue for me was always winning this and the next game. If they didn't win 1, the season was over basically. Yeah, the question was playoff hopes or drafting in the middle again.
