  1. I have no interest in canning trestman at this point. No interest at all. And I think he's insane
  2. That's quite an exaggeration. The Bears also had a lot of things go their way also. It was just an amazing collection of errors and [expletive] ups by both teams. Terrible refs helped the Vikings in a huge way
  3. His two TD passes were underthrown and only Jeffrey going cheat code turned them into TDs. McCown was bad. He was terrible, but in bizarro bears offense world the team made him look competent.
  4. Yeah, I'm not even upset since I expected a loss. Just annoyed that they had a chance to delay the playoff elimination but failed.
  5. Who is this mind numbingly dull analyst working manu/tott?
  6. I assume that since they were recently 3-4 names short of 40 they can go ahead and carry 3-4 over the limit for the same amount of time. It's really just a guideline rather than a strict rule? It's like the nfl salary cap, no?
  7. They overturned an Alabama td. And the bowl money pales in comparison to regular tv money.
  8. Don't blame replay. The evidence was clear as day. The incompetent humans messed it up.
  9. It's almost as bad as dick Clark in his last years doing New Year's Eve
  10. Ouchie, Iowa's QB just got his leg rolled up on by a big old lineman. Went down in a heap and is now limping weakly to the side. That don't look good.
  11. UGA has 34,000 students. Ole Miss has 19,000. That's nearly twice as large. This isn't high school you weirdo. Size of school isn't the question. The point was your attempt to pretend Mississippi was in some unique situation as a small state with 2 "big" schools.
  12. Define big. It's not like Mississippi State is any bigger than Georgia Tech or Ole Miss is any bigger than Georgia. And it ain't like your rosters are only local boys either. Plenty of smallish states have 2 or more BCS schools.
  13. This piece by Jesse Rogers (http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/20608/the-case-against-signing-jacoby-ellsbury) is far better written and more in line with what the FO's strategy seems to be: Pile up young prospects. Even if they don't pan out they can be used as sweeteners in trades and players who rely on speed tend to fall of cliffs production wise. I can't help but think some wizard at ESPN said, "Hey, this Rogers piece makes a lot of sense. We better put a counterpoint out there to appease those who just want to sign a "big name"" That is such a loony tunes theory. Why would ESPN want to counter the "sign a big name" group? Jesse Rogers' article is also terrible. Soriano and Crawford as anecdotal evidence against signing a guy who relies on speed? In summation, this is a terrible article and using it to defend a stance is a huge mistake.
  14. Sort of answered your own question there, didn't you? Sure I can do a vast research project on it if I'd like, but some guys here might already be pretty in tune to what is going on with the Ricketts. I could also just look up all the Random Cubs musings, or the thread Cubs Prospects in the news, but I'd rather discuss it with fellow Cubs fans. Not to mention some people may be more connected to information with more details than a random blurb in fortune that the family wealth is up, down, or neutral. Nobody here knows the Ricketts' current financial situation. You can ask google for updates, but other than how the stock price has performed (reasonably well), you can only guess.

  16. This is flawed logic. They don't have to be producing at ceiling WAR rate as rookies for the team to not be bad. They do have to outproduce replacement level to 'not be bad', which as rookies some probably will, but collectively as a group probably will not substantially influence WAR positively unless one of the bunch is carrying the entire lot with a Trout-like rookie campaign. How much better are you expecting that lot to be as rookie or 1.5 year players than current options? Depends specifically on who they replace.

  18. It was like the 5th or 6th image that came up on google.
  19. It says the Cubs will go across the front in straight lettering. Most of the time you see a number on the front it is with lettering that goes from lower left to upper right while looking at the uni. And I wouldn't say they even look all that great.
  20. Just fine... http://content.sportslogos.net/news/2013/11/Chuck-McElroy-1990-Chicago-Cubs-Road-Uniform.jpg
  21. I trust Bosio enough to think that that's not his real thought process. It's just easier to sell to the morons. But that is such a baseball person line of reasoning.
  22. Red numbers under the blue BS on the front? That's going to be hideous.
  23. 1/3rd of the way at least. I wasn't a bulls fan. My sports fandom grew from the sports I played. Football and baseball were obvious. As a wrestler our mortal enemies were the basketball team pretty boys (it was the suburbs), so I never followed the sport. I never played organized hockey but played a lot of backyard and pond hockey and eventually the rent out a rink at midnight version as well.
