  1. As opposed to the brilliant triumvirate of David, imb and leftcoastcubfan
  2. I've only lived here for four years, but I don't know a single runaway or heroin addict I've only visited four or five times and my only guess is you've never been outside.
  3. Everyone knows the Cubs are in a bad place in certain ways, but Wittenmyer clearly has an agenda at this point. Stop playing devil's advocate in his defense. It's not just "certain ways", it's the only way that matters. Why are you the judge jury and executioner when it comes to who can be defended? Some people seem more interested in defending an owner who has purposefully underspent and has had the team do nothing but lose, but get pissed at media members who call them out for it. Wittenmeyer is the debt structure guy. Which you don't believe has anything to do with the Cubs not spending. So, why are YOU defending him? I'm not defending anybody, my intent was to offend David and the Apologists.
  4. Kinda sounds like no one in this front office has decided to talk to him behind the scenes much. Kinda sounds like the team is in a bad place and has been for several years. 5. Many many more times
  6. Why did they run away from heroine (sic) addicts? Oops, I'll blame that on auto-fill
  7. They are being unnecessarily cheap and he is making excuses for it because he's apparently completely fine with it. It's called context
  8. It's not hipsters it's just socially awkward weirdos that ran away from home and heroine addicts.
  9. You totally missed the point The point being that you are totally cool with the ownership for being unnecessarily cheap.   What Cub fan would be happy that the owner of their favorite team is being cheap and unnecessarily so on top it? Give me a break. The one that just posted a bunch of bs excuses for the cubs being so cheep just above here.
  10. Did the other 19 get hurt? Thornton 's not playing. Thought it was bouwmeester
  11. Because of three tweets? Or did he write a terrible article somewhere? That "all our guys are injured" tweet is typical of his tweeting while one of his teams is losing. He's a known and self-confessed terrible NE/Boston fan; this isn't news. Thus the word "keeps"
  12. Yay to pats losing now hope the same for seattle
  13. Dunston is nothing but a name at this point.

  15. Is #5 even legal per the NCAA? Can schools buy out a guy's lease? where did this come from? It sounds like something a 45-year-old superfan would write, not something an actual coach would put together. There's very little difference between the mentality of a 45 year old superfan and a typical college coach.
  16. Ken tremendous keeps showing himself to be nearly as bad a fan as all those writers he rightfully shredded.
  17. If I were to read anything into it (which I'm not, really), it wouldn't be that it might help get him here. It would be that he's seriously considering coming here. Explain
  18. Three votes helps down the line when people are just making stuff up. Pointless now.
  19. I maintain that "pretty productive" is a cop-out descriptor.
  20. The explanation I read was Vancouver was coming off a few games where they were fighting dirty and the league took notice. Calgary played the role of enforcer.
  21. Too self aware
  22. Eating regular crackers is still better than going home alone again. Right Kyle?
  23. Maybe a little hyperbole on my part, but the "get him at any cost" narrative is what I'm referring to. I want him badly, but my excitement is tempered a bit. People want him at any cost because he's young and expected to be a good pitcher and the Cubs need him. I really haven't seen anyone here building him up to be some kind of super-ace. Maybe not, but I can very much see a scenario where he gets the Soriano treatment, where he may be a pretty decent player but is seen as a bust because of the money he makes. Add to that the fact that he won't be able to directly speak to the media and I could see this playing out. I thought it was annoying when idiots blamed good players on good teams for not being good enough. But it's much more annoying when there are no good players and the team is bad. I can live with rozners bitching about soriano jr.
