He did okay, forced to overspend on veterans, but it's not like that is what led to the Super Bowl. It was Urlacher, Lovie and one or two Angelo drafts that created a monster defense.

The part I took issue with is the notion that they had very good success with veteran offensive lineman in Chicago. Angelo absolutely went into multiple offseasons as a hostage to the need to acquire offensive linemen specifically because he never drafted them after his first draft. It wasn't that "young players failed to meet expectations" it was because he ignored the offensive line and relied on 30 years for too long.

Ah, yeah that makes sense. So it doesn't seem like had an F medical like cubbyvirus said. It was a concern, but not to that level. Yeah, those guys were probably somewhere in the middle, but above F no doubt. A: Clean, no major surgeries, no missing of practices or games B: Overall good, missed some practice time and games with small injuries C: Had major surgery but came back from it, no real missed time D: Multiple surgeries, missed practice time and games throughout career, risk F: Too many medical issues and concerns, won’t hold up and hasn’t in college Hardin was probably an F, which makes it even more insane that he was as high as a 3rd round pick.

Angelo must've had a different grade system at the time...because he was a "yellow", not a letter grade. It wasn't that he had a different system, it was the scouts for other teams had a color coded system and Carimi was a yellow. Presumably that's a caution sign, or similar to what Angelo had for his C grade. That is why Angelo was quoted as saying they had "a similar grade".

I can't get this play, even after I disabled Adblock Plus and DoNotTrackMe. A vine? I've never had an issue with those. Anyway, not much of a view, but Szczur made a dive toward the LF corner on a ball that was probably tailing away from him. -

You would think, but it seems like players in the past who were notorious for being fat or heavy and had a lot of power, who then went on to lose weight and get in better shape before a season, would often have lower power numbers. But then again I'm only really recalling Prince Fielder when he took on that vegetarian diet after his 2007 breakout year, lost weight, and then lost over 100 points to his SLG and OPS, so I really don't have a lot of frame of reference. There haven't been a lot of "fat" power hitters out there. Off the top of my head I can only think of David Ortiz, Mo Vaughn, Cecil Fielder... and I'm drawing a blank now. Babe Ruth Rusty Freaking Staub and Greg Luzinski were the fat power hitters I remember from my childhood.

It's hardly a stretch to assume other teams will highly rate your prospects prior to seeing them play in the major leagues. That being said, if you really wanted to, it wouldn't be hard to give such a player a little experience even if you theoretically have "too many" players at a position.

Yes thank you. I'm sick of seeing it the old way and having to figure out myself who the Wild Card teams were. Makes sense, but then how do the seeds work? Does it re-seed after the first round? I'm pretty sure that they keep it within the division* for the second round. Chicago would play COL in the first round then STL, assuming STL won. *The wild card teams may or may not actually be divisional opponents, as they will just be thrown into a matchup with a division winner based on who has the most/least points.

I understand the sentiment. But at this point, what hitter would you draft over hoffman/rodon? The one they think is the best. It's February, I'm not allowed to have an opinion on specific draft prospects. EDIT: For reference, you can copy/paste this to last year and replace the names with Appel/Manaea to get the same general sentiment. The Cubs do seem to be sticking to that mantra. Can't say I blame them considering the injury risk on the pitching side, but there has to be a pitcher good enough that they would make an exception. Maybe not in this draft but there has to be a profile that would just be too good to pass up. It will be fun watching the candidates try this year. Not sure it would be a pitcher good enough to make an exception but rather a lack of hitters good enough to justify passing up the arms. I wouldn't make it such a hard and fast rule, but something more like, when in doubt, take the bat. I take Bryant 100 times in a row with Grey or any arm on the board. You can't just arbitrarily pass on the best arm in the draft to take the 10th best bat that is clearly a step or three down from the pitcher.

I did the same thing, mostly came down to whoever showed me how to do either. I'm a natural lefty, so I learned to write that way in school. Almost everything else, people just showed me how to do it righty, so I learned it righty. Same here. Disappointed too since when I do swing and actually make contact LH I have a lot more power. I can throw a football a decent distance with a spiral LH also, so I'm pretty sure that is what I was supposed to be. How is your handwriting? terrible
