Hmm...why not? If they cut him, he's not gonna sign somewhere for the same money anyway. Do you think he's just ready to go somewhere else? Tampa's nice this time of year. I know that some of the guys have some high loyalty to Lovie, but I never got that vibe from Peppers. Maybe it's there...I dunno. I don't think it has anything to do with a players' loyalty to Lovie, but rather Lovie's faith in his former players.

NFLN just had a bro to bro segment that consisted mostly of Martellus goofing around and Michael pretending he didn't know where he was going to sign. If they have a legit second end, I want to see what would happen if they kept Peppers.

Was that him? I remember it being a cheap penalty, but not really a "bad" call. Sort of a letter/spirit of the law thing. I remember being impressed with Weems a few times and disappointed more than I expected from a supposed ST ace.

Weems did not impress me in the least. He's also got to be close to 30, is he still on the team? He's 29 and has one more year. I agree that he isn't a good returner anymore though I thought he was a good STer. Didn't he have a few bad penalties?

That is not a particularly good comparison. He's not a potential gold glove SS because he doesn't actually play shortstop. Calling somebody a potential .300 hitter isn't the same as calling them a career .300 hitter, it isn't really saying much of anything. Dusty Baker once called Bill Mueller a potential hitting champion and he was coming off a .268 AVG before coming to the Cubs. He won batting title with a .326 a few years later and that was 35 points above his career average. Villanueva hit .314 as a 19 year old and was hitting .285 in A+ before coming over in the trade. Jayson Werth is coming off back to back .300 seasons despite being a .271 hitter in the minors and spending most of his major league career closer to that level, including a .274 career mark. Andrew McCutheon hit .265 in AA and wasn't flirting and hit .259 the season before his first of back to back .300 seasons. Plenty of guys didn't hit .300 until they actually turned into a .300 hitter in the major leagues. He may never do it, but saying he has the potential to do it is not that egregious of a statement. Oh god you're right. I'm now sort of upset that that moron was vindicated on that. Never made that connection. I remember thinking it was an absurd call. The crazy thing is it happened in 2003, of all years for Dusty to look prescient.

Not sure why Urlacher would have a publicist right now. But I'm guessing this sort of "straight talk" is only a positive for him while trying to make a name in the media side.

Who said anything about high level? He was annoyed that he didn't see any of Boston's starters and that is a perfectly reasonable stance to take.

Expecting to see a couple of the names you know is hardly "expecting much". I know we're 5 years into this pathetic rebuild and don't have any veterans to care about so we only think about prospects, but normal baseball fans do like to see actual major league baseball players when they pay to see a game.

Miami and Houston are the two organizations that should never, ever, ever, ever be allowed to complain about another team putting a "B" lineup out there. I don't really care what different organizations think of one another, but the one and only Spring Training game I've ever attended was a split squad Red Sox team against Toronto, and literally NONE of the "A team" Red Sox were at my game. It was Toronto's starters against Boston's AAAA team and bench. And? Really? He was probably annoyed that he paid money and saw no quality players.

Mick? He's not really subbing in, he's been doing PBP on the cubs.com feed most of the time, with Len chiming in from time to time. I assume it's some sort of training/tryout thing for him, while Len is just farting around. -
This is just typical veteran baseball player stupidity. He was apparently asked if he could put up numbers like Trout, that's a question about 2014, not 2004. What he did last decade has nothing to do with anything.
