  1. That's crazy. Soler already looks like much less than a lock.
  2. He's widely respected and praised on any primetime game
  3. The assumption itself is not reasonable.
  4. I love Peanut, but there's no way he was more important than Urlacher to that defense, nor was he better than Urlacher. It seems like a few meatball comments since retirement have really skewed the view on Urlacher's career. He was awesome. Agree
  5. I'm so stupid. I saw tweets about a happy Hossa being on the ice and didn't understand what the big deal was.
  6. I have really liked what he's done in free agency in back to back seasons, specifically the way he has addressed the obvious needs so as to not force the team into drafting a specific position. The previous regime got stuck drafting Williams and Carimi specifically because of how desperate they were for the position without addressing it through other means previously. Emery seems to see his weak spots very well and has a plan of attack to upgrade those weak spots. I think the Hardin pick in inexcusable and the McClellin pick is disappointing, but all things considered I have liked a lot of what he's done.
  7. If the Cubs believe that Olt is "fixed" and is a potential long term Major League player, is there any chance they send him back to AAA for a few months so he doesn't accumulate the service time? He would only need to stay down a few more weeks than Baez. With his age and the organizational depth at 3B, I don't expect they would send him to AAA if they believe he is ready, but I wouldn't put it past this front office to want to buy themselves another year. I believe they would be better off giving Villanueva all the reps at 3B in AAA and starting Olt in the majors. Gives us the chance to showcase another above average trade chip every day at his natural position. Which one is the trade chip in this scenario?
  8. I don't need to like or respect athletes to root for them. Yeah, the vast majority of professional athletes are idiots, [expletive] or worse. I'll settle for my favorite players not falling into the "worse" category. If respecting them personally was a requisite for rooting for them, I'd have a problem being a sports fan. Negligent parenting of children is pretty damn close to worse.
  9. I don't need to like or respect athletes to root for them. But I previously loved and respected Cutler.
  10. I am all for the donnnnnnnnnnnntttttttttttttttt care persona, but not in this situation.
  11. http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2014/03/jay-cutler-joins-irresponsible-doooonnnntttt-caaaarreee-vaccinations-herd.html Oh crap. Now I am going to start hating Cutler.
  12. I thought it was somebody from the Sun-times that outed Bartman. All I know about Kass is he had a video on the tribune about making beer can chicken, which is very good, and he sounds like a couple of my uncles.
  13. This picture of Butkus and Butthead looked to me like Butkus and Tribune writer John Kass http://b.vimeocdn.com/ts/366/024/366024312_640.jpg
  14. I'm glad that you validated your own question there. no offence
  15. Probably lots of ours lamenting that we don't have that and have mr. happy positivity guy instead But I'll be hanging out with the Philly people this weekend, and most of the summer. It's going to be fun to watch that relationship.
  16. I had to look up the word, desultory. Sandberg is oldschooling it to the Nth. First and last stop as a manager. He found the right organization for it to play with. A large swath of that fanbase is probably loving it.
  17. Dave Gettleman better be damn sure he's getting whoever it is he's after in the NFL draft, because dumping our only receiver worth a [expletive] doesn't make a lick of sense. Releasing Steve Smith makes plenty of sense. If you have another WR it makes a lot of sense. Unless I missed something, Carolina's best wideout not about to be released currently is Brandon LaFell, which would be fine if the team's goal was to go 7-9. http://deadspin.com/there-is-a-sad-little-save-steve-smith-rally-going-on-1543117790 Andy, go to work. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/yvsepmvcbwn6pqnv1oyp.jpg
  18. Scheduled double header against the Nationals too. When's the last time that happened? That was more of a pre-emptive rescheduling though. No game on a Sunday is probably the weirder part of that weekend.
  19. Rich Campbell ‏@Rich_Campbell 21s Bears announce 1-yr deal with WR Domenik Hixon. Special teams contributor. On a related note, Eric Weems is under contract for 2014.
  20. Seems to be a really solid signing to me.
  21. http://deadspin.com/somethings-going-on-between-ryne-sandberg-and-jimmy-ro-1542994018 Sandberg butting heads with Jimmy Rollins.
  22. Was that a curveball? Looked about as hard a ball as Wolf threw last night.
