  1. He was also out of the league for 20 years by the time Kyle was drafted.
  2. How is that possible? You are kiddiing right? Seriously, you have to be kidding.
  3. Uhhh, I did not. Or at least, if I did at one point, I forgot. So now I have to check on our office ticket hook up for this season.
  4. Haugh says Bears/Trestman should be intrigued by Weeden.
  5. In both cases we're clinging to the upside that people spoke of for those guys before they played for the Cubs. At least in Dunston's case he has some performance to go on that you could still envision a path to him being a productive player with age-appropriate development. Like David alluded to, there are no future stars at this point in the list(maybe Leal if you squint really hard), which makes it all the more confusing to vote for an old pitcher who's fallen on his face when pitching and now has some injury history too. What the hell is the upside for Dunston? Magically becoming a shortstop?
  6. I don't think that happens unless there are injuries.
  7. You will regret this. Not to go full-Kyle here, but he's like a homeless man's Rivero, or maybe a rich man's Concepcion. Scattered reports of plus stuff don't mean anything when you're terrible at Boise/KC at age 23,there's big questions about your viability as a SP, and have other negative externalities(injuries, age-gate). You're romanticizing ceiling here. The best case outcome for Paniagua is not better than at least half a dozen guys who could've been voted for. Heck, we would probably flip if he found a way to reach the point that Rosscup is at right now. Better than romanticizing Shawon Dunston's offspring.
  8. MD Jennings is really bad. He was the worst player on a defense that was pretty bad last year. He literally does nothing well. The worst player on a pretty bad defense could be better than the worst player on a worse defense, which makes him an upgrade.
  9. Is this on WGN? MLB Network http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast/index.jsp?c_id=chc
  10. strong hint that Dante Rosario will be back. "reasons will remain internal"
  11. number one attribute for backup RB is pass protection
  12. Shea is going to wear 50
  13. Man the Chicago sports media asks stupid questions. Are you a student of the game? What does 99 mean?
  14. Yeah, between the high scoring offense and a hopefully improved pass rush, you can get by with some healthy bodies at safety.
  15. First of all, the number requirements are so stupid. Why does it matter? Secondly, I don't understand why Shea has to be in the 50s as a LB? Is it because he's a 4-3 LB? Because guys like Lawrence Timmons and Aldon Smith have numbers in the 90s. Shea doesn't have to switch due to position change. I would guess he either wanted a "ceremonial fresh start" or jersey 99 was meaningful in contract negotiations with Houston. Shea only took 99 after somebody else had his college number.
  16. oooooooo, pft commenter would love this guy, getting ticked at your own mistakes.
  17. Sure why not. Go get 'em Jets.
  18. wat? no way. also, rizzo is enormous compared to both of them. damn ethnics
  19. Maybe he doesn't shave everyday.
  20. Almora? Really?
  21. Dave Gettleman better be damn sure he's getting whoever it is he's after in the NFL draft, because dumping our only receiver worth a [expletive] doesn't make a lick of sense. Releasing Steve Smith makes plenty of sense.
  22. should we add "goony says tropes" to the list of goony tropes? I didn't actually say the word.
  23. I assume if you try to cut Steve Smith he will just shoot you. I think you're confusing him with Rae Carruth. He might punch you in the face though. He'll punch you in the face if you look at him wrong. Cutting him requires an escalation of violence.
