    Yeah the stout run defenders don't do much for me. That's because it's not 1998 anymore. "Hello - we all weigh over 300 lbs. " - Geno Atkins / Haloti Ngata / Vincent Wilfork / Jay Ratliff / Randy Starks / Linval Joseph / Michael Brockers / Kevin Williams / Marcel Dareus / Ndamukong Suh / Nick Fairley / Kyle Williams EDIT: My point is that if you are drafting a 1st or 2nd Rnd DT he should be able to stop and the run and collapse the pocket. Having smaller DT's that get pushed backwards were a big part of our problem last season. The problem with the DTs they had last year is they were 5th stringers and mostly garbage.

    It's the Yankees, and Jackie Robinson Day, so they will do whatever they can to get this game started at least. It's not raining here now. They can probably make a case that the heaviest rain will pass before it gets too late. I've been to 2 NYY games in the past couple years and both included extremely long rain delays. I'm guessing I will have to head out there and waste money on beer before leaving disappointed. But that would be the case regardless of the rain.

    Did all of the Braves want to fight Upton after he watched that HR? We know how much they hate that. He didn't seem to pause for long, and he sped up much quicker than most.

    Hendricks has 8 starts at Iowa. Giving him a full season to prove himself isn't going to hurt anything. Plus, if I'm understanding the contract situation correctly, the Cubs control Wada like a pre-arb player, so if he turns into something useful he'd be valuable as an end of rotation player himself, or as a trade commodity. Again. If the need arises mid-season and Hendricks (then with 20 starts) doesn't get the call, and Wada does, i'm gonna be pissed. We know what Wada is and that's a back-end guy. It's likely Hendricks is that too, but he should get the opportunity first. Just one man's opinion. Seems like something minor to be moderately annoyed with, not pissed. There's a lot more about this team worth being pissed at.

    You could be a good judge, but maybe not an aggressive spender, or you worked for an owner that would not allow aggressive spending.

    Except the small differences make it difficult to rebuild through free agency and the draft. The intent was to curb spending by the big boys, but the unintended consequences have rewarded teams for not trying. The new CBA sort of rewards the status quo. It rewards being the best at judging talent. Enlighten me. It doesn't reward status quo, because status quo is the good rich teams will stay good because they can just overspend on the draft and internation signings in lieu of high draft picks. But that isn't possible anymore. So they will still be rich and good, but will not have that influx of young talent without the willingness to trade away their good older players. You can exploit this system by tanking and stockpiling all that young talent, but most organizations can't afford to screw over their fans for very long and most front offices won't have enough time to benefit from this plan. If you are a good front office that can draft and acquire talent without the help of a top 5 draft pick/allocation, you will be most rewarded. You will win games in the majors but still create maintain value in your system without the benefit of "cheating" (tanking or overspending).

    Seems sort of typical. Quite a few of them have been also rans for years. Vancouver is the only one that's been reliably good but they missed their time and are poorly run.

    I submit that that's not actually interesting at all. If they actually end up with a good team I don't care who they have running it so long as it's not some kind of Bakerian monster. It will be interesting based on timing. If they are good next year, he will be there. If they suck next year, he will be gone.

    i considered that as a hit attempt, it's not really ever a sacrifice with a runner on the corners unless you're having an inept pitcher bunt there It was a safety squeeze, that's definitely a sacrifice attempt. The sac fails never count the wasted pa where the guy fails to get a bunt down and subsequently makes an out. It's dumb.

    I wish there was a way I could tune out the rest of the crowd at sporting events. The guys who think they know what they talk about are the *worst*.

    I can think of three position players on the roster I'd DFA before him easily. A few more that are close. Yeah but tomorrow you're going to like Olt again.
