I would not call this "covering it correctly". Not quite suggests it is almost a demotion.

A viral infection that knocks you out for a week is probably going to have some carry over into the rest of camp. And as a raw 2nd year guy who already missed time prior to last season it can't be helpful to have him this banged up.

Almora was more well thought of on draft day. For example, Baseball America rated Almora the 7th best prospect in the draft and Russell 28th. Isn't ba notoriously bad at ranking prospects. At least worse than actual experts? -
You are asking if people will voice complaints about the team when they are good? People complained when the team was good during the Jim Hendry era, fwiw. Unless they reel off a few 100 win juggernaut type seasons there will be stuff to complain about. So, not sure if that's what you want to hear or not.

Having confidence in their ability to figure out a way to find pitching makes sense to me, but not being worried at all reeks of the similar overconfidence some people have in all the prospects.

I'm pretty sure all those losses and all those losing seasons were real and will remain in the record books. They are not just a figment of my imagination. It would be neat if they were, but also kind of scary. They're there, but they're over, It is July 25th and the Cubs have a .410 W%. Again, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
