  1. Baseball rule change: Just use pitching machines. Reenact the turning the blind eye to PED/steroids they just need to rebrand them as organic or something.
  2. Chris Russo is a Giants fan.
  3. soccer unis are ridiculously stupid. Let's go Aon!!! 1888BET win!!!! I would definitely never buy another jersey/shirt with logos on them. I would probably enjoy watching a game much less if the unis looked like that.
  4. I do not believe these folks Well it's pretty vague but its the first positive thing Ive heard toward the Cubs possibly landing him. The first? Like, today? There have been plenty of positive things indicating the Cubs could possibly land him.
  5. He might be more aggressively loud than Cowherd, but he's not nearly the level of douche of Cowherd. Cowherd is a genuinely bad person. Russo is just an excitable puppy that pees on everything.
  6. Considering the OF the Cubs have this year and they probably won't have 95 losses with it, I'm guessing two straw men and a scarecrow. I interpret it as an extrapolation from the performance you would get from that outfield, as in, if the rest of the team performed similar to that OF they would be a 95 loss team. Not a particularly fair way to do it, considering everybody has weak and strong spots. But they do have a weak OF situation and plenty of room, money and justification to spend big on one.
  7. Ironically, the Mets are in Oakland tonight. well, most west coast trips for east coast teams start with a cross-country flight. It would be kind of crazy for the Cubs to have a road trip that starts in NYC and then goes to SF.
  8. Valbuena has been nice, and will be nice, but he's already not an everyday player and will have plenty of opportunity to participate next year even if an actual OF replaces one of our many non-factor players.
  9. This makes me wonder...does anyone remember what it was like in the pre-advanced stats era? Would someone have looked at Choo's numbers (.241, 12 HR, 39 RBI), compared it to last year's numbers (.285, 21 HR, 54 RBI) and said 'eh he's not hitting as well as last year but still not too bad', when in reality he has completely [expletive] the bed? 3/4 of the way through the season? Yes, I think most people would look at those numbers and say he was bad, especially the .241 avg.
  10. I hate rushing prospects but pitchers aren't prospects. Use their remaining ball throwing ability at higher levels while they still have it.
  11. Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 · 3m #Cubs Tuesday: Coghlan LF, Baez 2B, Rizzo 1B, Castro SS, Valbuena 3B, Castillo C, Alcantara CF, Sweeney RF, Wada P
  12. this is not jed and theo http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/countygrind/wild_crazy_guys.jpg
  13. Jackson, Wood, Olt and Almora.
  14. seriously, where do people get the notion that there isn't room?
  15. I didn't even know Felix was right handed.
  16. Hurray for Sgt. Hulka feeling better!
  17. how so? Unless they are fumbling left and right and or fair catching it on the 10th the return game will be at worst a non-factor. I don't really care about the return game and am glad we are past the point of counting on it as part of the offense.
  18. Soler is not verified on twitter. Almora is.
  19. Damn I thought the Cubs were flying cross country for this bad boy.
  20. I hope people remember this every time they're mad at a player for holding out. What is an expensive injury? It's not like he was paying for his procedures? It's an injury that prevents you from earning in the future. If the NFL doesn't guarantee contracts, meaning you can be cut at any time and don't get anything more, then players should absolutely get the maximum they can in the present. That's a pointless distinction. Lots of players get cycled out of the league by injury every year.
  21. still not used to that phrase
  22. The only way to do that is to call those guys up.

  24. Bobby V is bored by contact hitters who just want to put the ball in play, likes Baez types that swing hard and inspire the team.
