  1. Ironically, the Mets are in Oakland tonight. well, most west coast trips for east coast teams start with a cross-country flight. It would be kind of crazy for the Cubs to have a road trip that starts in NYC and then goes to SF.
  2. Valbuena has been nice, and will be nice, but he's already not an everyday player and will have plenty of opportunity to participate next year even if an actual OF replaces one of our many non-factor players.
  3. This makes me wonder...does anyone remember what it was like in the pre-advanced stats era? Would someone have looked at Choo's numbers (.241, 12 HR, 39 RBI), compared it to last year's numbers (.285, 21 HR, 54 RBI) and said 'eh he's not hitting as well as last year but still not too bad', when in reality he has completely [expletive] the bed? 3/4 of the way through the season? Yes, I think most people would look at those numbers and say he was bad, especially the .241 avg.
  4. I hate rushing prospects but pitchers aren't prospects. Use their remaining ball throwing ability at higher levels while they still have it.

  7. Jackson, Wood, Olt and Almora.
  8. seriously, where do people get the notion that there isn't room?
  9. I didn't even know Felix was right handed.
  10. Hurray for Sgt. Hulka feeling better!
  11. how so? Unless they are fumbling left and right and or fair catching it on the 10th the return game will be at worst a non-factor. I don't really care about the return game and am glad we are past the point of counting on it as part of the offense.
  12. Soler is not verified on twitter. Almora is.
  13. Damn I thought the Cubs were flying cross country for this bad boy.
  14. I hope people remember this every time they're mad at a player for holding out. What is an expensive injury? It's not like he was paying for his procedures? It's an injury that prevents you from earning in the future. If the NFL doesn't guarantee contracts, meaning you can be cut at any time and don't get anything more, then players should absolutely get the maximum they can in the present. That's a pointless distinction. Lots of players get cycled out of the league by injury every year.
  15. still not used to that phrase
  16. The only way to do that is to call those guys up.

  18. Bobby V is bored by contact hitters who just want to put the ball in play, likes Baez types that swing hard and inspire the team.
  19. need a gif of bobby valentine at the open of the mets postgame show. Eyes widened and leaning back in his chair.
  20. wow, awesome stat for the mets. 1st team in 10 years to go 5 games getting 4 hits or fewer, since the Mets did it last.
  21. I was surprised that I don't see many people making rich man's Soriano comp for Baez. I leave the smart baseball stuff to the rest of you guys but the high power, high strikeout, low walk profile screams Soriano, no? I've been saying it for.. well for like 6 months. A mid 90's (pre 60hr Sammy) with less SB's in the middle infield is what I'm envisioning from Baez. Which is an awesome player. That bat speed reminds me a ton of young Sammy too. In the middle infield, that's an amazing player.
  22. Baseball Reference ‏@baseball_ref · 2m Javier Baez has joined Jason Kipnis as the only players in the last 100 years to hit 5+ HR as a 2B in their 1st 14 career games
  23. 59-67 ‏@NYMets_Nation · 1m @MLB PLEASE STOP SUCKING HIS DICK! PLEASE. THE KID IS TALENTED BUT IS NOT THAT [expletive] GOOD! PLEASE GET HIS DICK OUT OF YOUR MOUTH
