    Funny that Mike Martz was the only non-disaster as a coach he's had. Head or OC. Hell, the DCs have been jokes most of the time too. From incompetent (Tucker) to Babich just there for show, the Bears as an organization has been terrible since the Cutler trade. Lovie was far from a disaster. But, yes, everyone else has been a joke. lovie and marinelli were both good in their roles.

    Well then if you are talking about that then the increased "strategy" a pitcher must use to face a 9th quality hitter negates any lost should I pinch hit questions. Also, only idiots double switch their best hitters.

    There's still plenty of fans of it. Just a lot of people are willing to give it up if it means standardizing the rules across the league, as they realize that the DH isn't ever going away in the AL. There's no GD strategy in baseball. It's out out out out out 1 run out out game over. Ah, but to get that one run could require 15 decisions in the NL. I love it! and every one of those decisions is: should we pinch hit for our shitty hitting pitcher? Not yet. should we pinch hit for our shitty hitting pitcher? Not yet. should we pinch hit for our shitty hitting pitcher? Not yet.

    You are forgetting the biggest reason: If Arrieta has to pitch in the final series in an effort to clinch a spot in the postseason, and is therefore unavailable for that one game playoff.

    Why would anybody take him? He's only had a brief period of solid play, has a huge contract and is suffering from vertigo. That brief period happened to be when it mattered most. "Playoff Bickell" was MIA this year in terms of goals but casual fans will remember him as the guy that had a great run during the playoffs. Also, there are teams that value big guys that hit people. Someone, somewhere is making the argument that Bickell hitting people helped win the Ducks series. Finally, there are teams that need to rweach the cap floor. Getting a guy with Bickell's potential for a draft pick wouldn't be a bad move if he were healthy. Once he can show that, they'll be able to find a taker. If he can't they might be able to LTIR him. The matters most stuff is noise and there probably aren't as many dumb teams that can be fooled by that stuff. The cap floor stuff is also probably not as much of an issue as when it was introduced. Nobody wants garbage like Bickel just to get to the minimum.
