    The guy is 21 in AA with much-improved BB and K numbers. He's clearly going to take some time to develop, but I don't think we should start proclaiming that he's "never" going to be a good hitter. I'm willing to leave open the possibility that he may one day become a not too bad hitter, but I'm pretty settled on him never being a good one.

    no idea looks to have been 9th on his team in points this year and he got 1 goal and 1 assist in 15 playoff games. good bloodlines though

    Castro for Hamels was discussed long before 2015 started. Those guys are highly rated prospects. Thanks for explaining how trades work though downsr, really helpful info.

    That's a good point. I'm assuming the deal is contingent on him signing the contract with Columbus. If he's crushed.... Not sure why you would assume that. No way is it contingent.

    I didn't necessarily want to part with Castro but considered him an option in a trade, as well as other names like Vogelbach, Baez, Almora and more.

    that would be standard operating procedure. A guy who misses 2-4 weeks typically gets a few PA in a handful of games before he is called back. If he missed 6 months he would probably get more time. But he doesn't need to stay down for more than 2-3 games.

    It is a demonstration of his ability to make adjustments. Adjustments to minor league pitchers. Adjustments to the best pitchers he's seen yet. And he's done it at every level he's been to outside of the majors to this point. which all means very little in comparison to just his overall body of work. The he always sucks early then gets better narrative is just a built in excuse to suck early and act as if it doesn't matter.

    Yeah, right thing to do after not trading sharp last year. Default right thing to do. The two greatest words in the English language, de fault I love all the Monday morning QB from you involving Patrick Sharp. He is a season removed from his best as a Hawk, yet Stan should have traded him? Well, I will be polite and just say there isn't much reason for you to know anything about what I have posted in the past. But it is very inaccurate to call it monday morning QB when I've been hoping and calling for a Sharp trade for a very long time.

    I love the idea of trading for Hamels but have very little interest in using Schwarber in that deal.

    I really do not get the faith in the "he sucked at every level then improved" argument.

    why do you think it is horrible? NHL has guaranteed contracts, unlike the NFL, and guys hit free agency at incredibly young ages. There's no 6-year service time before you make any money. And it doesn't have the salary cap shenanigans that the NBA allows. I think the cap, which also came with a floor when implemented, works as advertised and players are as good off as they have ever been.
