  1. Buck Martinez was the best part of whatever baseball video game he was a part of. I've always wanted a Lobster Cola.
  2. Those towels were going to be part of St. Louis's "white out" of busch but they realized later that effort was unnecessary.
  3. I do not agree with this sentiment. There are pros and cons. Ross is obviously far inferior to Miggy with the bat, but he's a better thrower to bases, which could help with Lester pitching. I wish we were facing a lefty so Ross would at least stand some chance of being useful at the plate, but it's fine. I'm sure Joe will immediately PH Montero if/when Lester comes out. That's also one of the many values of having Schwarber. You don't have to be afraid of subbing in Montero and risking being out of catchers. Schwarber himself is at risk of getting replaced defensively though. My guess is Ross stays in as long as the Cubs have a lead, but come the last 3 innings we'll see Montero PH for Ross or a pitcher if they're chasing the game. Well presumably they would only replace Schwarber for defensive purposes if they have the lead and are not in need of offense. But if they do need offense then he will stay in and Montero can also bat for Ross.
  4. No idea. He's awful. Costas was irritating with his old man, replay sucks, he would have been safe for the past 100 years shtick, too. Twitter suggests its Jim Kaat http://m.mlb.com/network/personalities/?id=41537540
  5. looks like the squeaky wheel got his grease.
  6. I prefer users who created their account in the 9th innings of an 8-4 loss. Those are the die hard contributors.
  7. Maybe they shouldn't cut the B10 out of their schedule. The best B1G team they play asked out of the 2014-15 games so they could play Oregon. And I don't think ND anticipated Michigan was going to fall ass over tea-kettle into one of the top 10 coaches in the whole sport. ND should know a thing or two about how blue blood football teams don't stay down forever. I didn't mean to say UM would be down forever, just that I don't think anyone expected they'd luck into Jim Harbaugh and turn things around basically instantaneously. And that post is somewhat ironic considering ND has been good exactly 3 times in my 20 or so years following the team, and that's charitably including 2006, a year in which every good team they played slaughtered them. As far as I'm concerned, they have been down forever. I wasn't talking about ND I was talking about blue blood football programs. ND should have familiarity with them since they used to play quite a few.

  9. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/molina-is-ready-to-go/article_b2666e99-a3f7-5c5f-8530-dc75b159e7a3.html Sounds like a savvy vet trying to goad the Cubs into some bad sends.
  10. Why allow them a series win?
  11. Gotta love that east coast bias. Damn right. A little after 5 PM is a great time to start a game. it's a terrible time in october for shadowy reasons By 5:30 October 9, the entire field will be in shadow game 2 starts at 4:30 local time, games 3-5 potentially start at 3:30
  12. The Cubs actually have a higher local ratings, but the population difference is way too enormous to overcome. A Cubs world series probably out rates a Mets world series but this is only a division series and the ratings will depend heavily on local market, not average joes.
  13. Do you have any sort of source for this? Because I can't find [expletive]. I googled the ratings and it said ~260,000 households for Mets this year, just below Yankees at 275ish. espn article the other day posted cubs at 112,000 households or was sofa said
  14. You're a smart guy David. You know this has zero to do with who's the better team/matchup, and everything to do with media markets. And I understand that the Cubs in the playoffs trump that. Even for ratings, it would be a bad decision, which is precisely why I'll shocked and disgusted. something tells me they know more about this than you do It's the [expletive] Mets. If it were the Yankees, I'd agree. They're like a rich man's version of the White Sox. The fact that it's both those markets is the only reason it's even close. The White Sox are a terrible comparison. The Mets are huge here. They play second fiddle to an absurdly successful Yankees team but they are by no means an afterthought. They basically get twice as many viewers than Cubs games, due to the size of the market. The Cubs are a great story and Cubs/Cardinals is big but Mets/Dodgers is enormous.

  16. I believe it was highest rated on TBS but the ESPN game the day before had a higher rating 5.7 to 5.5
