  1. [tweet] [/tweet] I love grumpy dog in that photo.
  2. Cogs had a pretty hard hit ball in his first AB last night for a single. Looked terrible striking out in his second, but I'm not sure you'll get much better from Soler, who certainly won't see any hittable FBs from a guy as smart about pitching as Lackey is. Yeah but the guy is seeing the ball great, and is taking his walks. If they don't want to throw him hitable pitches then he'll be standing on first. Depends on what kind of zone the ump wants to give Lackey.
  3. If Russell is out and Javy doesn't start, I imagine he'll get the Coghlan treatment from yesterday where he's the first pinch hitter so he plays 4-5 innings and gets 2 at bats anyway. Shielding him from Lackey isn't the worst idea in the world. There's a value in putting Javy in and showing confidence in him defensively; it'd settle his nerves and he's a much better defensive player than Coghlan is. I'm not sure there is much value in that at this moment in time.
  4. That's the theory, the question is if the actual numbers support it. I think that in a wind aided game with everything blowing out that the defense might not be as important as it would in a game under normal conditions. if more would-be outs fall in for hits around your bad fielders, then chances of a crooked number via wind-aided FBs are higher though making defense even more important? Yeah, that's possible. I just don't think it's that crazy of a question, in extreme dong condition situations.
  5. And a line, as well as a homerun threat running back.

  8. No. Last night was Monday. Today is Tuesday. The first game of the NLCS is Saturday. That means Arrieta would be going on full rest for Saturday's game.
  9. The problem with the crowd is how many 65 year olds who just want to see it happen once before they die buy up the tickets. They aren't noise makers or the least bit enthusiastic. The Cubs will have to win a world series once before you can clear out all the nostalgic boomers with money who can't be bothered to get loud. After that, the sky high prices will subside a little and louder 40 year old will be able to afford to go.
  10. I was at a bar last night that featured this game all the way through to the end and relegated the Mets game to a couple backup televisions until it was over. Mets fans didn't even try and commandeer the main TV and audio. And they outnumbered us significantly. This is fun.
  11. I wouldn't go so far as saying 4 runs off lackey is a longshot but I don't see them rocking him.
  12. Nah, that could motivate him ... He'd just ignore her like he did when she had cancer.
  13. Plus id get to go to games without paying for hotels and flights and whatnot
  14. He's been a negative nancy all game. He's been that way for a decade. You don't where a pink/green uni in those seats without wanting to be seen and nothing stands out more than the guy sitting while everyone else is standing.
  15. go game 1 and he can be available for game 5 on normal rest and game 7 bullpen on 2 days.
  16. i believe that was only for a brief spell when it was unknown whether cutler would be out a great deal of time. After week 1, people thought, huh, maybe they will win a few more than 5/6. After week 2 (cutler's injury) people thought they had a legit shot at a top 5 pick. After 1 game without him, no change in opinion other than the somewhat optimistic idea that Cutler almost made it back for game 3. The line is still garbage and putting Cutler at risk, especially with no talent at the receiver position, but for as long as Cutler is active the team will have a shot in at least 9 of their remaining games. And holy [expletive] I just rerealized that the Green Bay road game is their only remaining game against a legit good team that should be favored heavily. Denver will also probably be heavily favored but Manning has more picks than TD and who knows where he'll be in a month.
