    I’ve yet to read a real reason why it doesn’t make sense to trade a non-special DH. He’s not a great hitter. He sucks in the field and is getting older. The team doesn’t want to spend past the tax limits, so it will have to look to cut costs when possible. At least one of those good but not great players who make money is going to be gone. It should be one who will get you something of value in return. There is not a single black/white hitter in this organization where it makes no sense to trade them. i don’t have a specific preference. id rather move off a guy whose value comes from glove than bat, because gloves don’t last and I believe a lot of that defensive value is a mirage. Bats are real. But I wouldn’t weep for any of these guys if/when they are dealt.

    The list of potential next head coaches is so incredibly uninspiring. A bunch of guys who have failed in other spots or have never been NHL head coaches. The timing of this really sucks, since Richardson didn’t have a chance for two years and now barely got two months with a rag tag group of middle to lower 6 forwards and nobody capable of being a top liner aside from Bedard. This team gives up so many empty betters partially because they have so little offensive firepower, there’s nothing for opposing teams to be afraid of when protecting a 1 or 2 goal lead. Had they pulled the trigger earlier they could have gotten Jim Montgomery. But they felt the need to wait for a 6 game losing streak. This seems to me to be a situation where untested Sorensen gets this year and next and then they have to find a new guy for 26/27 season.

    It was inevitable. interesting that they promoted AHL coach Sorensen to be the interim. His job was to develop all those kids in Rockford. Does this indicate there will be callups?

    Not even the least bit similar imo. LaRussa was checked out for a decade before that hire. It would not be a long term hire, but it should be a stabilizing one for 3-5 years. I’ve long maintained the Bears are desperate to replicate the Steelers stability at the HC position and this is why I’d doubt they take the old man (more so than the roster control issues), but they could surprise. The one thing theyve always done is shift the category of new hire. Recently that’s been defensive guy/offensive guy rotation, but they’ve also gone from first time NFL head coach with other head coach history, to lots of head coaching experience to young coordinator with limited NFL experience. Belichik would be a shift closer to the John Fox type, after back to back failed coordinators.

    At 49ers or home vs Seattle later in season? My guess is if they are competent next couple weeks they might be a slight home favorite over Seattle.

    They traded for Sweat and paid him. Previously, they traded for Mack and paid him. They paid Robert Quinn. They paid Davis. They pay much greater sums every season for talent than what they’ll need to pay a head coach. Eberflus’s contract is a backup long snapper they cut in preseason. It’s meaningless

    Annually. The tax burden is an annual issue, not a one time cost. All developers fight property tax assessments. It’s not unique and it’s not an indication of penny pinching.

    A 5-0 finish to end 9-8 and Williams rolling along would be epic level magic and imo not a borderline decision to bring him back. But we can rest assured that won’t happen.

Brossoit is going to miss the first half, forcing Soderblom to surpass the games played number that would allow them to send to Rockford without waivers. ST. PAUL, Minn. — Chicago Blackhawksgoalie Laurent Brossoit underwent a second surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss at least six more weeks, Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said on Friday. Brossoit, 31, initially underwent meniscus surgery in late August and was expected to miss five-to-seven weeks. His recovery was on track during training camp and he was expected back with the team early in the season, but he later had more knee issues. He recently had further tests done and another procedure was recommended. Richardson described the procedure as a clean-up after the first surgery. Brossoit is expected to be re-evaluated in about six weeks, the Blackhawks said.

    I hate everything about this idea. Paring a young guy with a vet counterpart is half measures BS. That’s how Pace got Fox. Hire the right guy and have him assemble a staff. And don’t let that Rex Ryan anywhere near the building.
