  1. It very much is a strategy employed by better offensive teams. The difference is their skill players know how to achieve it. Williams had a bad throw and Swift didn’t try
  2. Not when you give points up every single drive
  3. Too be fair their only chance to stop the lions or score is probably forcing a punt return and fumble
  4. It’s an extremely bears fan thing to speculate about. It was never really on the table as a decision they’d make internally. If the offense played well enough to make him a candidate, they’d win enough games to keep Eberflus around.
  5. We can put those Thomas Brown as head coach stories to bed
  6. Seems like an optionality thing for Vikings, and an opportunity for the coach to cement his reputation as a QB whisperer. If he can be a playoff team with Darnold, do they negotiate a new contract? Assuming Darnold goes to highest bidder in free agency, Jones has the inside track to be the guy that competes with McCarthy.
  7. Jones signs with Vikings
  8. I meant expensive players. Tauchman made sense as PCA insurance last season. If Bellinger left it would make sense to renew that insurance policy this year. Bellinger came back so it makes sense to not pay for that policy this season
  9. They didn’t release Tauchman. They chose not to tender him a contract. And there’s nothing wrong with that, especially when your OF is already filled with expensive not great players.
  10. Not many worse things than a gaggle of bros hitting up the steakhouse after a round of golf: SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Former NHL player and TNT hockey analyst Paul Bissonnette was assaulted by several men during an altercation at a Scottsdale steakhouse Sunday night. Bissonnette posted a video on X on Monday describing the incident, saying he tried to intervene when one member of the group got in the manager’s face and started grabbing him after his friend was asked to leave. “You could tell by his face he (the manager) was a little shocked and surprised and stunned,” Bissonnette said. “It’s a family restaurant and there wasn’t anyone there who could maybe go help him out, so I went over, grabbed the guy and said, ‘Sir, if you’re going to assault and harass the staff, we’re going to have problems.’” Bissonnette said members of the group started throwing punches in a fight that started in the restaurant and spilled into the parking lot and to a nearby store. Bissonnette said he was kicked in the head three times and took several punches while landing several blows of his own against seven men. Scottsdale police arrested six men who are accused of assault and disorderly conduct.
  11. This is a weird post to make after yesterdays effort, when he was slinging it all over the place
  12. I cannot imagine a scenario where a new head coach retains the old interim OC and anybody is remotely happy.
  13. After two straight double digit losses the Bears have lost their first two division games by a combined 4 points, covering a surprisingly low spread in both games. Now they are 10.5 point dogs and +410 to win on national TV, which I would call their nemesis if not for the fact that other NFL teams are already the nemesis of every Eberflus coached team regardless of time, day or network the game is on.
  14. The broncos haven’t exactly been blessed with an amazing ownership situation
  15. Flus’s D is weak kind of funny how many people lauded this group in the offseason with 1 pass rusher and zero impact interior lineman
  16. What a poorly coached team
  17. Been a sooner fan my whole life
  18. There is one reason, if the QB likes him. That would be a spiteful cut, not a football one. I’d rather not antagonize the qb.
  19. At least my kids team beat a lousy Flyers team today
  20. Snow games are fun and all but the biggest news so far this week is Daniel Jones’ strange mea culpa press conference in conjunction with his salary cap protecting benching (avoiding injury guarantees) and then today he’s been granted his release after requesting it from John Mara. Now he’s free to join any team. Jones stinks, but he’s been an NFL starter which basically guarantees he’s better than most backups. Is he going to Dallas? Will Miami show interest for Tua brain insurance? Hea probably best served as a good QBs backup for a year or two. Maybe go to a team that has succeeded in reclamation projects, backing up Baker, Goff, Darnold. Anyway, just wanted an excuse to start the proper week numbered thread
  21. The point going in was to give those young kids more time in AHL. I think it’s justifiable. Bertuzzi is probably the only vet of consequence taking up roster and cap space and providing nothing. He’ll probably get better but you can’t expect a ton. they were going to lose a ton this year regardless. They’ve looked more competent despite all the losing. It can’t hurt to add a top three pick next summer. But bedard has to be better this year and will be next season. if not, those extension talks will be interesting
  22. If we don’t see anything significant from bedard for several years you will not see him with the Blackhawks
