  1. Their interpretation of my activities was that my primary intention was not to use the tickets but to re-sell them, despite the fact that I attended 7 games personally. You think attending 7 games refutes the theory that your primary purpose was to sell? Was there any communication prior to this action about potentially losing ticket rights if you kept selling the vast majority? You admit to selling all World Series tickets and it sounds like this was very much a business arrangement rather than interest in attending games as a fan. Are you upset about not getting to attend games or not getting to sell tickets?
  2. Hes more than I expected, which is to say, still worthy of being a backup in this league. Hope they have a real plan for a starter if its not Jay next year. This D is good enough for us to win some games. he throws quite the floater
  3. I like your line ups, but personally I'm not sold on the Almora/Jay platoon in CF. Baez and Zobrist are both better players than Almora and Jay. Playing Almora and Jay regularly will cut into Zobrist and Baez's playing time, unless the Cubs decide to make Heyward the odd man out. To me it seems the best option is to move Heyward to CF full time, Zo in RF full time, Schwarber in LF full time, and Baez at 2B full time. I want Baez's defense on the field as many games as possible, especially at 2B. Almora and Jay can spot start when the match ups favor them or someone needs a day off. Almora will see plenty of playing time late in games as well. Jay to me is nothing more than a 5th outfielder, probably a tier or two better than Coghlan. Trust me, I'm not in love with the idea of moving a perennial gold glover, Heyward, out of his comfort zone in RF to CF, but to maximize Zobrist and Baez's playing time this seems like the only option. This is where I'm at opening day: Zobrist RF Schwarbs LF Bryant 3B Rizzo 1B Russell SS Contreras C Heyward CF Baez 2B You want javys defense in there as much as possible and in order to do that want an of of schwarber, heyward, zobrist. I'll ask David to do the math but to my human eyes that doesn't add up.
  4. Three posts, all three about season ticket situation. Seems odd to me.
  5. People get thrown out for drunken buffoonery every game. If somebody with your tic got tossed you could lose access.
  6. he better be on the team, I'm excited to have somebody older than me on the roster.
  7. I've forgotten how great that movie is. I've got a weird relationship with the movie because while I think it's good, there's just way too many people who love it for all the wrong reasons and also love saying you couldn't make a movie like that anymore, for all the wrong reasons.

  9. the cubs do have 4 empty 40 man spots and aside from signing another couple free agents and or the occasional minor league cast off, the quickest way to fill those spots is a 1 for 2+ transaction.
  10. others have mentioned it but yeah, who was talking about blank checks?
  11. That video is way beyond weird. It's creepy and the music is awful.
  12. Wasn't it called, Your mother is a whore? Maybe not, I can't remember. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/escalated.gif
  13. Same Rule 5 rules apply to Smith on the Cubs. I haven't seen what was traded, but in most cases it's a small amount of cash. it was stated to be a cash consideration, perhaps part of the world series share
  14. more recent http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-top-23-pitching-prospects-1.9106954 ampa (A+) (6-2, 175) BORN: July 28, 1991 | DRAFTED: 14th round (2013) MOST LIKELY OUTCOME: Middle relief ETA: 2017 NOTES: Caleb Smith features a mid-90s fastball, slider and changeup. Has reverse platoon splits and will need to be as dominating against lefthanders as he is against righthanders in order to succeed as a starter. He also possesses better control when facing righthanders.
  15. The Basics: Name: Caleb Smith Age: 22 Draft: 2013 14th round pick out of Sam Houston State Size: 6-foot-3, 180-pounds Fastball: 95 mph Other Pitchers: Slider, Changeup BBDP Ranking: 48 Position: LHP http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2013/10/2014-breakout-candidate-caleb-smith/
  16. http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=smith-005cal 25 y/0 LHP with decent minor league numbers over 367 innings of mostly starting. Supposedly a long man.

  18. wasn't it cleveland that blew a 3-1 lead?
  19. But Duensing is nothing to hang your hat on and that 2nd LHP is a big question. So I see 5 solid spots, three of them being injury concerns that may need the occasional preventive 10 day DL stint, plus these guys are not afraid of an 8 man pen.
