  1. I abhor hall of fame discussion
  2. Eh if there is a sport that is going to have Trump supporters, its baseball. Nascar
  3. From the linked article: will they be blacked out when located in opposing team's market?

  5. I could not disagree more. Few teams will be under more pressure to sign a free agent pitcher this coming offseason than the Cubs. They have to do it, and the lower the supply, the more difficult it will be for them to do it. Fair enough, but this is at least a heavily mitigated by the healthiest TOR FA arm being inside the org and the depth to make multiple trades of various sizes for pitching. Locking up Arrieta OR making a significant trade for a Teheran/Archer/someone suddenly turns that FA class into a hunt to fill up the BOR - and that was largely the case before Duffy signed his extension. but they almost certainly do not want to sign Arrieta.

  7. one theory I've always had is the helmet provides a false sense of security. Football players use it like a weapon, which is dumb. But the baseball helmet is barely a thing, it really doesn't do much but provide minimal protection from a pitched ball, and players aren't going to go crazy thinking they are protected from it. The softball helmet is like a baseball/football helmet hybrid and it may give some players a false sense of security to play with reckless abandon with regards to their head. Combine that with shorter base paths and shorter infield plays and more opportunity for quick contact and that's why it's exponentially more dangerous. Wasn't thinking of the facemask and stuff. Yea, those softball helmets are overkill. I'm not sure about them being overkill. The pitched softball comes in to the batter at a equivalent rate to 100 mph baseballs from 60', and it's bigger and coming in from a low to high trajectory.

  11. And sing along to the age of paranoia
  12. i'm sitting around and watching the tube, but nothing's on
  13. small field, short distances between bases, not a lot of room to maneuver and a whole lot of bang bang infield plays may play a part.
  14. one less spot for kyle

  17. San Diego isn't an individual person acting in a vacuum.
  18. I'd go rock climbing with him.
  19. That steelers helmet to helmet last night is perfect example. People ask, "what are you supposed to do" and the answer is the complete opposite of what that guy did. He brought his arms down and braced himself for purposeful helmet first contact, with a launch. That is just terrible technique but everybody does it because when you hit hard it looks cool.
  20. I mean, he could go to Milwaukee but they will also leave him off the playoff roster.
