  1. we got todd ricketts in the white house that's officially denying climate change, so I don't think you have to worry about it
  2. how do you use a magazine?
  3. The explanation was that as soon as the playoffs are set you know the potential host cities for games 1,2,6,7 and the potential host cities for games 3,4,5. There was some level of certainty. I'm not sure why the NHL and NBA don't have that problem with 16 teams to account for (or I guess 15 since worst record in playoffs cant get home court/ice). Of course their playoffs last 2.5 months so they have a little more time I'm sure they do have that "problem" but as I said, it's probably not that big of a problem. It was an excuse more than anything. And I'm guessing the extremely prolonged nature of those playoffs plus the fact that they don't play back to back to back nights makes it a different animal. MLB has the date of every potential game set in stone long in advance. The NHL schedule gets reshuffled for each round and I assume the NBA is similar.
  4. The explanation was that as soon as the playoffs are set you know the potential host cities for games 1,2,6,7 and the two potential host cities for games 3,4,5. There was some level of certainty. Sure but it's still 5 possible places And after day 1 it's 4. They said that was easier than 9. I'm guessing they have to put some sort of deposit down on 100 rooms or so to lock it in. It's probably not a huge amount for MLB purposes but they fret over little things all the time.
  5. I love how for years they were like "it's too difficult logistically we have to reserve hotel rooms" or something and now they just randomly decide that it's doable now. Glad though. Also glad we could take advantage of the last year of the rule in a backwards way. that explanation still made no sense because they didn't know who the teams would be The explanation was that as soon as the playoffs are set you know the potential host cities for games 1,2,6,7 and the potential host cities for games 3,4,5. 6. Or they might need him to suit up and play given all the injuries. They should invite Sczcur or let the receivers wear his batting gloves.
  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-shake-shack-wrigleyville-1129-biz-20161128-story.html I've had one of their burgers at Citi Field. How many innings did you miss waiting in line? The Mets and Phillies both have decent food options in center field, but the lines are insane if you buy in game.
  8. Not reverse split for career.
  9. a one WAR salary for a one WAR player? Is that how much 1 WAR is worth now? Was just watching MLB Now today and they said a replacement level 1 WAR player is worth about $5 million. If the going rate is actually $8 million that's nuts. I thought $5 was the number several years ago and it's been closer to $8 on the free agent market of late.
  10. a one WAR salary for a one WAR player?
  11. not the founding father
  12. consider me "not scared of the Mets"
  13. To score literally 2.5 points. over/under on that happening?
  14. I don't know, I'd think it'd be just as annoying to watch Cubs prospects we have salivated over for the past few years becoming stars down at the G-Spot. I realize this would probably be the worst time in the last however many years to trade their best player to the Cubs but at the end of the day making your team a winner is the most important thing. If the Sox think they can get better players from the Cubs than any other team, they need to make that deal. I haven't salivated over a prospect since Kris Bryant graduated, so I can live with it.
  15. I watched the first quarter, listened to a bit on the drive to MetLife and then listened to the 4th quarter in the parking lot. (don't judge me, we got free tickets for Jets/Pats and it was a nice day) I went from cheering mildly for a win and then being perfectly fine with the loss after they came up short. I'll still probably cheer for a win in any game and not be upset with a loss the rest of the way.
  16. Just watching what dak prescott has to work with in Dallas makes me fear what would happen if/when the Bears ever bring in a similar player. Elite pass catchers, elite RB and elite offensive line really makes the difference in how a QB can handle his introduction to the league. There's not an elite body on that side of the ball for the Bears and the groups in total peak at above average. Howard has been solid, but he lacks the homerun capability that affects defenses. Jeffery has always shown flashes but he's yet to really break out as an elite guy and the rest of the group is a huge question mark. The offense is a complete mess and some rookie QB isn't going to be able to turn things around. How many good teams are being led by top 3 pick QBs these days? The vast QB wasteland is a real thing, but so is the top 3 pick was a QB and 2 years later we still suck wasteland. You can't lock onto a QB at the top of the draft mentality, especially when nobody looks to be a lock for that type of pick. Teams can score on 2nd round QBs, and your best chance of making that QB good is making your team good. And this team isn't one QB away.
  17. I have been a cutler apologist. Not sure what that has to do with the fact that the line is garbage, is not healthy and isn't going to become magically healthy any time soon. People turned a blind eye to the fact that they do not have viable tackles just because the middle was theoretically solid, but they lost all the up the middle depth in the offseason and the one good lineman has been injured since training camp, and probably going back to the end of last season. You can't have a top 10 unit without outstanding tackles, let alone with bad ones, and the Bears tackles are bad.
  18. Dude fell on his ankle and crushed it. Not exactly a "soft-tissue" injury. Shoulder is chronically injured technically. But the shoulder will be surgically repaired, and he won't be chronically injured. He's also NOT 28 quite yet and will play 3/4 of next season at 28, so "already 28" is a little misleading also. However you slice it he's not young nor an anchor to depend on. The line is garbage.
  19. Kyle long is already 28 and chronically hurt.
