  1. And apparently the team is staying at the Westin Jersey City / Newport
  2. Yeah, I get the reasoning behind acquiring him and theoretically filling a black hole. But I never saw him as a solution
  3. The only realistic way for this to be done is replace the front office.
  4. How was it determined to add 4 pages to the beginning of this thread?
  5. WTF HOYER HOW DO YOU GIVE UP TWO THIRD BASEMEN FOR A RENTAL??!!??!?!!?
  6. It’s not like this defense never shat the bed with Flus at the helm. But it is probably true he was a better DC and play caller than whatshisname. Also, guys clearly did not try. But the talent quality is razor thin on this defense. They have one lineman. The rest are nobodies. They have highly paid linebackers and multiple DBs, but neither group has materially impactful guys.
  7. Nazar called up, will play in NJ against Devils Saturday. another one of those inevitable moves Alec Martinez went on IR.
  8. Virginia ready to throw her Super Bowl ring in Lake Michigan
  9. I feel like you are mixing and matching different people’s complaints and calling them one. People who whine about guys being too expensive are not the same people whining about Hoyer being a spendthrift coward. I don’t hesitate pointing out Hoyer has done a horrible job so far. The team is way too mediocre, especially for what they’ve spent. I’d be very happy if he acquired an impact player and not particularly worried about whatever second tier guys he gives up to make it happen. I also believe it is smart to acquire so called rentals as it’s much easier to sign your own guys than somebody else’s. And I’m not going to lament any so called overpay the bootlickers worry about. Overpay for impact players all day everyday.
  10. 5 unanswered goals against in the third is not good. 3 more of your own is nice. Bedard with 1 goal and 2 assists is promising. Bertuzzi and Hall being helpful…, helps. one step closer to another number one pick this summer
  11. If they acquire the guy I’d bet they are the favorite to sign him and something like 30-40% chance they do. they’ve got very little on the books past 2026. Suzuki and Bellinger will be gone. Good chance Happ and/or Hoerner will be gone. The bigger question will be getting him in the first place.
  12. Crochet went to Red Sox?
  13. Everything I read about that game said it was entertaining. Dallas scored in all 4 quarters. Cincy didn’t score in the 3rd but got 10 points in the 2nd and 4. 5 total tds, 3/2. Winning TD scored in final minute. Chicago has lost by 25, 20 and 16 so far this year and the offense has sucked in 7 of the games played, and most first halves.
  14. Bears/Vikings is one of two MNF matchups this weekend which is good for Disney since there’s a good chance the Bears lay another national tv egg. But maybe they figure out a way to cover the 7 point spread on the road. If Thomas Brown wants to stay in the discussion for next head coach winning a road game against a better divisional opponent would be a good start. But, alas…
  15. Warren being involved in a head coach search does not mean they don’t trust Poles with personnel decisions one day in the future Poles may accomplish enough to win a power struggle. To date, he has not come close
  16. Spoiler alert, it will not be their last chance to draft one. Now, it may be the last chance for Ryan Poles, but that’s a different story.
  17. This to me seems more likely. Poles handicapped Eberflus his first year and when he has a chance to significantly improve in year two he chose to kick the can down the road. I think he felt a loyalty to Eberflus for guiding the team through two self imposed terrible seasons and he owed Eberflus a season of trying.
  18. He’s had several offseasons to improve the team and he has not. He spent money on mediocre RBs and hoped one DE would somehow solve the entire pass rush thing. He’s invested in LB over the line. He’s triple and quadrupled down on non impactful guys in the secondary every draft and stuck with mediocrity across the line. Poles may know what this team needs to get better but he has not shown in three years the willingness or ability to find it.
  19. I don’t disagree, thus my “you are kind of stuck with him” comment above. A franchise reset at this point won’t help. Poles is going to waste Caleb’s rookie contract because he’s incapable of building a winning roster. The one option you really have to circumvent that problem is get rid of Poles and elevate Ian Cunningham. But he very well might not take that job under those circumstances.
  20. You sound like an abuse victim unaware of reality
  21. It’s been a minute since I’ve been a live attendee at a Chicago victory over a NY team. That was fun.
  22. Isn’t he displacing sub-replacement level roster filler?
