  1. Those deep seated chairs are awful. Who thought that was a good idea for analysts to sit-in on TV?
  2. I was literally seconds from posting the same thing. Uh, hay Zim, this is when you write something down. He could have been officially signing the card or something.
  3. Sadly I had already considered Hendry doing something like this. And thankfully there's a great chance this is Hendry's last year. But if the sale takes time to go through, that will delay the overhaul, potentially leaving Hendry in charge of decision making during the free agency period.
  4. With a 12 man staff, 2-3 appearances per week from one guy is not going to overtax anybody else. True. But don't you think at some point the organization will come to its senses and revert to an 11-man staff? No. They've been doing it this way for years. They seem to prefer it. Whenever they go to 11 man briefly, they quickly go back to 12. The only way I could see them go back to 11 is if the starters consistently go 6+ strong and 5 of the relievers start pitching really well, consistently.

  6. Hunter isn't even all that good. He's better than the Cubs RFers, but you're talking about a steep price to pay for a 4 month rental, and there's no way you want to sign him to the extension he'll get. He's a soon-to-be 32 year old with a lifetime OPS+ of 104 and severe OBP issues. This isn't somebody the Cubs need.
  7. Sullivan doesn't seem like the type who is going to go back an acknowledge something like this based on letters from readers. He's also probably not a fan of the site, if he knows anything about it and all the negative things said about him.
  8. yeah... and back then, nobody thought Luis Montantez was the second coming of, oh I dunno, Chris Burke? I dodn't remember what exactly people thought of him, but I do remember a very negative vibe about him. Everybody thought it was a low risk low reward type pick. Nobody was all that high on him.
  9. Isn't that a bit over the top? Dismal? His OPS+ was significantly better than Juan Pierre's, 99 to 81. Certainly that's not good, but as a cheap, young CF, it's acceptable.
  10. I'm pretty sure the Cubs have, from time to time, held just 39, for one reason or another.
  11. I would forget about the idea of Soriano at 2nd.
  12. Pagan has to go. He's so incredibly worthless with Pie playing everyday. It's a no-brainer. If Ramirez looks to be out for 6-7 games, I could see them bringing in an extra bat and sending Gallagher back down.
  13. Is this guy really a 1B? I could see a small market team being willing to settle on a guy like this who is at least likely to contribute something, at a cheap price. But they can't be serious about him, can they?
  14. I don't like Jones or Izturis, and thought they'd each be relatively bad, but they've both significantly underperformed what I thought they were capable of doing. That's pretty amazing, in a pathetic sort of way.
  15. No. Why not, he always gets on a base. Soriano doesn't get hot til late in the game. you are confusing me.
  16. I like how Lou keeps talking about staying consistent with the lineup, while not staying consistent at all.
  17. I like 'em all. 5'11" and athletic, small and petite, big 'uns, backside, gams I'd never narrow it down to one type. Even though I've already narrowed it down to one specific woman.
  18. I would be surprised if Z was trying to play mind games.
  19. Last night they mentioned something about fireworks for HR's. Do they even do that there? They do. Saw it myself Monday night. Fireworks in a dome are incredibly stupid. It looked like the fog bowl in there.
  20. As long as they have Beltran, Reyes and Wright, to go along with a $100+ million payroll, their window will stay open. They could use some starting pitching help, with the old guys possibly on their last legs. But Rick Peterson has done an outstanding job of getting the most out of their young arms, like Maine and Perez.
  21. Has there been some sort of fog/smoke situation going on inside Miller Park?
  22. Especially since they only get to face them 6 more times the rest of the season.
  23. Nobody likes that bastard.
