  1. No kidding. Lovie plans on using Hester less frequently on returns (and more frequently in passing game), so Davis is going to be "needed" there.
  2. I guess Soriano's legs are back to 100%, because that was the nonsensical excuse for the move in the first place.
  3. 1. Not good. 2. Disappointing. 3. Annoying. 4. Not a big deal to me. 5. Don't see the point in trying. Ramirez isn't scoring on a double, and best case scenario is 1st and 3rd. 6. Don't know, only followed gameday. 7. I saw a guy walking out of his building with a Brewers hat this morning while I was walking my dog. Considered saying something but was too tired. 8. The vast majority are inconsistent and unreliable. 9. Because they are hideous.
  4. They already try, and it's easier said than done.
  5. The forceout rule was a Cardinals game? Isn't that a relatively frequent call? A friend of mine hates that one and will be happy. I think it's probably a good thing to overturn. It tended to get called once or twice a week' date=' so frequent but not likely in any particular game. Most of the time it didn't generate much controversy, even if most fans didn't particularly like it. There was a game earlier in the year though where on the last play of the game under the rules a forceout should have been called in the end zone, but it wasn't. That caused the team to lose the game. It generated a lot of buzz, and I'm not surprised that the forceout rule came into question the year after that particular game. The NFL is a very reactionary league on many of their rules.[/quote'] True, but that's not necessarily bad, at least in this case.
  6. Please, please try not to be absurd. I appreciate the sentiments wolf, but I came into this season doubting that. How are we so amazingly talented? Just because every TV baseball person says it doesn't mean its true. Yeah I'm not getting it either. We have some good players and some really bad ones too. I never agreed with the predictions being heaped on us from the beginning. We've always had a very solid chance of being unseated by the Brewers. That was true until the final couple days of last season, and it remains true now. It should be decent ballclub. I don't see greatness here, on the whole. They should still be able to match last seasons win total and maybe flirt with 90. Which basically is what you said.

  8. You can't make anymore. I wish they were 2-0.
  9. I was wrong. tHAT 8-16 START was in 2002, so my bad. And I went back over the 2003 start, and the Cubs went 14-12, don't count the March 31st game. But my point remains the same, this "slow start" myth needs to be thrown out the door. Keep in mind I actually want the Cubs to do really good and be like a 95 win team, hovering around .500, and often being below .500 is a slow start. Fighting from behind last year was a slow start. I'd like to see the Cubs actually build a little lead and be a great team from the start, not try and hang in there all year.
  10. Not only that, but what did they say 40% of our home games are in April and May, while 60% are in June, July, August, September? We better get our crap together now so that we aren't facing a slew of tough road games to gain ground back. Nothing worth winning comes easy........, or some such nonsense.
  11. Why do people get all up in arms over fans getting upset over slow starts? It's the same thing every year. Slow start, MAN THIS SUCKS, hey calm down it's early, mediocre finish. Oh wait, it's too late. Why can't Cubs fans, of all fans, get jumpy over the opening series? What's the big freaking deal? Saying this needs to stop isn't going to stop it. Slow starts doesn't happen to the Cubs every yr. The Cubs got off to a 5-3 START in 2006, and finished April 13-10. In 2005, the Cubs fiish April with a 12-11 record. In 2004, the Cubs finished April 13-9. In 2003, the Cubs had their worst April (between 2003-2008) going 8-16. I've you the fact these starts aren't blistering, BUT....there not slow starts either. So, IMO the slow starts are individual players, not the team, per se. I am a concern, but then I realize there are 160 MORE GAMES left in the season, and my concern subsides. That's fine and all, but why does it bother you if other fans don't work the same way? People freak out over a loss in game 43, 92, 162, and 2. Saying "it needs to stop" isn't going to make it stop.
  12. I don't. That gimmick isn't going to work every time they look ugly.
  13. I don't understand why you'd be willing to use Howry now, but not to start the inning, when they were down "just" 3 and had 4 straight RH bats coming to the plate.
  14. You're down 3 with 6 outs to go, they'd rather get the out and get out of the inning alive than risk the big inning.
  15. Is that the 2nd double hit to a Cubs middle infielder? Wait, I thought I saw double to Fontenot, but now it was a double and then WP. Nevermind.
  16. Wow, he is 33, I had no idea. 5th season with Twins.

Because not everyone takes as much joy in being miserable as you do. Lather, rinse and repeat. Nice contribution, and again, maybe try and read. I'm not freaking out or miserable, just wondering why people are getting up in arms over others who are.

  19. Now we just need Soriano and Ramirez to start the season.
  20. That is very definitely not "typical Cubs". sure it is. it happened all the time last year. runners on but never driving them in. now Wuertz is sucking too. SWEET I don't know what your definition of "all the time" is, but the Cubs biggest problem is now, and has been for a very long time, a lack of baserunners. And today, the Cubs are OBPing .304, while Milwaukee is at .367. One is horrible, one is terrific. OMG REALLY OH GOD, WELL NOW THAT YOU HAVE SAID THAT I'M GOING TO HIDE, YOU WIN. one freakin game What a stupid post. Can you read? I was discussing Derwood's comment about the Cubs "getting a baserunner on every inning" while pointing out that their OBP difficulties would suggest otherwise. Seriously, read first, it could help.
