  1. NNW 15-17mph, will be dying down after the game starts. (in from left)
  2. First wish for you: with a loved one Like mom, uncle, niece?
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/news/story?page=2008mlbonespnradio it's the first link on the website. They can't air it online, but it's on your local affiliate.
  4. I can't say I'm a fan of that, though I'm not surprised at all that Gaudin won't have a shot to be added to the roster later on. Yeah, I don't quite get the point of sending guys home. Is it some sort of response to what they believe was poor behavior?
  5. They are essentially $1.5m under right? I would assume they would have to count any portion of salary eaten against the cap this year, although if they trade him now, maybe that's all cleared. Regardless, it's not like they are going to be bringing in some big money guy at this point, there are no free agents, teams aren't giving up stars at the start of the season. I don't think the salary cap ramifications are that big, even if that's how they try and portray it.
  6. Actually, I wear the jersey shirt underneath my work shirt. Today it's a sweater, though, so it's not quite so visible. I've got the Ramirez shirt underneath right now, with a cubs sweatshirt and jeans in my bag so I can change and go straight to the bar without heading home.
  7. Yeah, ummmmmm, okay. I grew up in the Chicago area but have lived in the NY area for over a decade. I've met quite a few Cubs fans with no ties to Chicago. I don't really understand how that happens, but I don't really care either.
  8. Or Fred, that guy was in his 6th grade class photo.
  9. Celebrating back to back .500 seasons was embarrassing. Saying you'd be happy if the team made the World Series is hardly having low expectations.
  10. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48111 A similar poll was essentially 60/40 back in April. I'd be really hurt for a couple weeks if the Cubs made it to, then lost a World Series. But by mid-November, I'd be able to look back at this season and really appreciate how great is has been. I'd love to see 3 clinching celebrations this year. 4 would be the ultimate, but 3 wouldn't be bad. Content for a lifetime, obviously not. Satisfied with the season, absolutely.
  11. um, ok... that's the thing that I think it is, right? wow
  12. Dear Meph: Neither were the 05 White Sox or 06 Cardinals. the 05 White Sox had the #1 ERA in the AL and had 91 pythagorean wins. the 06 Cardinals....yeah, they sucked So, that's nothing special. There isn't a juggernaut AL team this year.
  13. Davis is freaking scary looking
  14. They could win a championship, he put them in the playoffs every year but this one, remarkable feat. On one hand, he'll never get the opportunity elsewhere to play with the resources he has in NY, on the other hand, he takes so much abuse you have to wonder if it's worth it.
  15. Prior to the season I predicted Cubs/Mets NLCS, so I guess I'll just replace NY with PHI. Cubs in 4, Phils in 5, Angels in 4, Rays in 5 Phils in 6, Angels in 6 Angels in 5
  16. Source It looked to me like he got hurt breaking the huddle. He seemed to get up fine after the play, but didn't go down until after they went into the huddle for the next play.
  17. Or they are trying to make the most money they can on a highly prized commodity.
  18. Details? Something about Lou bringing a winning mentality that wasn't really there in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
  19. i need details. He said Manny makes everybody else in the lineup better. Kent took great offense to similar sentiments earlier in the season.
  20. Dempster blatantly insulted Jeff Kent.
  21. That makes the Cubs underdogs, which means they should win.
