  1. I think he is very talented, but that he won't significantly improve the Bears pass rush this year.
  2. They've got Cubs written all over them.
  3. Back up to an injury prone starter on a DLine that rotates bodies a lot. He'll see some time, and hopefully he'll be productive in the time he gets. Yes, he'll see some time, replacing Harris, but that doesn't translate to improved pass rush to me.
  4. I think Bruce's article mentioned ARam possibly starting if there are no next day effects from his workout. Sullivan states in one article that Aramis will not go and Fontenot will probably be back at third, and in another article says Aramis is likely to start.
  5. Wikipedia makes it sounds like Wirtz and Reinsdorf both own the building but that's all I could find and it's kind of meaningless info. Yes, the Bulls and Blackhawks share ownership of the building. They may have agreements in place about who gets first dibs when, but there really isn't any conflict at this point.
  6. I question how much they addressed it. They got another tackle who may be a poor man's Tommie Harris, but the Bears already have a poor man's Tommie Harris, Tommie Harris. The end is a total project who is very unlikely to be a significant force this year. If they are going to have improved pass rush, it's going to be with Marinelli getting more out of the 3 established ends. we'll see. i think gilbert will be more of a force this year than you do. it's not like he's this raw athlete that has never seen a football field before. as i said, he had 22 tackles for loss last year and as soul has suggested, he has very good technique, he's explosive and uses his arms well. in addition to having good technique, he's also a pretty strong guy in both his lower and upper body. That's nice, but he's still just a backup to Harris.
  7. I agree, he looks fatter than I remember ever seeing him.
  8. Yeah, that's understandable with a bunch of sweeps. But when two series end up going 6, doesn't it behoove them to stick with whatever they had planned already? I'm just hoping they don't play Saturday night.
  9. I said all along they had to win a series to really capitalize on the momentum they've built. I still think that is the case. Everything from here on out is gravy. As long as they don't embarrass themselves this round, it's not going to hurt them to lose it. They were the 4th best team in the conference and made it to the final four of the conference. They played exciting hockey, won three home playoff games and generally fulfilled all the promise they had. Obviously winning this series and matching up with Detroit would be a tremendous boost, but they are still in line to improve going into next year and take the next step.
  10. They haven't exploited it successfully.

  12. Where are you getting this schedule? TSN doesn't have anything, nor does the Hawks website. I saw some speculation on the Hawks boards that Game 2 would be Saturday night for an HNIC broadcast, which means Game 1 would indeed be Thursday. But it was just speculation. I was holding out hope for a weekend home game that I might be able to come home and catch. As if I'd be able to get tickets. As a Hawks fan, and novice hockey follower in general, I have very little knowledge about how things work in the playoffs. However, the fact that a game 7 would have been scheduled for Wednesday makes it seem a little less likely that game 1 is going to be Thursday.
  13. Where are you getting this schedule?
  14. I still think QB is a huge need position for the Vikes. Yeah, I'm not sure how WR is a bigger need than QB. At least they have Berrian. What they don't have is somebody to throw to him.
  15. Yeah, I didn't see the trade at first, but when I heard about it thought that was huge for Seattle. They will probably not be all that special this year, but with 2 firsts next year they are in a great position to rebuild quickly.
  16. The experience argument has been done to death on the internet, but I still have trouble believing there is more pressure in the NHL playoffs than there is in the minors and college, knowing that scouts and execs are watching and your performance will determine whether you make hundreds of thousands playing at the highest level of you flame and out go work construction for the rest of your life. Given the extremely noticable to the untrained eye difference between early season NHL hockey and playoff hockey, I have to disagree with you here. Hockey is an emotional/adrenaline fueled sport. The pressure is real. What I think is overblown is the notion that younger players will always be more susceptible to failing under that pressure.
  17. Is it that they are in this position for the first time, trying to close out a very experienced team? Cuz I can see that. Otherwise, everything leans the Hawks' way in this one. No, I'm not big on believing experience matters. It's ice, there's a puck, and you skate around trying to put it in the net. These guys have been doing it for two decades each, they all have plenty of experience. It's just the way Calgary has played in their home games in this series. They aren't the same team as when we play them in Chicago. They also weren't the same team that played in game 1 and 2. Something happened Saturday that may be like the complete unraveling of a team that knows the opposition is better, the only way they can win is to bully, and that bullying isn't working all that well. They've got the history of first round flameouts, a bunch of injuries, and a questionable goaltender situation.
  18. I would have bet heavily they wouldn't go into the season with only one backup IF. I was wrong. They routinely let guys sit around on day-to-day situations for a week+, and at this point it wouldn't surprise me if they did it again. Fox would have had to catch a flight to Arizona a long time ago to make the game. My guess is they'll live with Rammy and Bradley potentially pinch hitting and give Lee a day or two.
  19. It was the same way on Saturday night. The directv (which I think you've said you have) guide showed Versus having the Hawks game for an hour, then the Ducks-Sharks game. Is that not what they ended up showing? Either way, I got the whole game on CSN. I think I saw the whole game on CSN.
  20. NHL.com lists the Blackhawks game being on versus, at least for the first hour. This might end up really sucking for me. The non-versus games have been available on CSN via center ice. But if it's on versus, that feed is blacked out. If they just show the first hour of this game until the previously scheduled ANA/SJ 10:30 eastern game, I will be pissed.
  21. I don't know anything about him, but I'm guessing the FB has the best chance to make the team. Maybe one other guy will stick around as a practice squad player.
  22. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/norman_chad/04/27/nfl.draft/index.html I'm all for humorous takes on the draft, but this is one of the worst efforts I've ever seen.
  23. He was too excited to tell us about his crap that would not flush to spend any time researching actual names that were drafted. I think the Bears draft was pretty interesting. They hit the positions they needed, and they got some nice names. They got a possession receiver, which they needed, and a speed guy who could fill a niche. I didn't quite get the reach on the 4th round end, who by my count was the first guy on the board who did not have his measurables listed next to his name on nfl.com.
  24. Who did they get? I didn't want a FB until the 6th round at earliest. And that was assuming they filled all their other needs, which they did other than OL. Can't remember where I saw it, but I think it was a Hawaiian sounding name from a school out west, like Oregon or Cal.
  25. Speaking of Mort. It's become clearer and clearer that he is getting lapped by the younger guys in the business. He had nothing to add to the draft discussion. The draft isn't usually his strength, is it? He's normally more of a guy who uses his connections for roster moves during the season (scooping trades, signings, who's hurt, etc.). He's always been an integral part of ESPN's draft coverage. But he's been less and less notable for a couple years, in and out of the season. He's gotten several stories wrong and flat out missed some major ones. And this weekend he was a non-entity.
