Florio is kind of a bitch. Not that I think this story shouldn't be told or anything, but the way he writes comes across as a big baby.

He hasn't struck out anybody yet today. As an unheralded midseason callup, he needs win totals and/or fantastic ERA/K totals. Yea he has no K's today, but with a 9-0 lead, Id expect him to mainly pitch to contact. You are right he needs the win totals or ERA/K totals, but his ERA is under 3.00 thats pretty impressive for a Rook I was just pointing out the lack of K's today to emphasize that he pitches to a lot of contact. ROY starting pitchers generally rack of huge K totals, not to mention wins or at least very impressive records. If he maintains his pace through August and September though, he will have a lot more wins and definitely be in the discussion. He could easily throw 8 innings today, and with the bullpen in the condition it's in, that would be huge.

I think Wells will go as long as possible. Hart pitching tomorrow means you have to have someone fresh down there. I say Wells goes 6 or 7 and Atkins finishes it out. There is really no better time to pitch Atkins than in a 9-0 game. Plus, with an off day for the rest of the bullpen today, there should be some fresh arms Being down 9-0 is probably the better time to use him. If Atkins pitches there's a good chance Lou will eventually feel forced to use Gregg.

Urlacher and Cutler have already patched things up so this won't be a distraction. oh, and that might not be safe for some people's work like situation environment whatnot.

The Indians want young prospects, not a guy like Bradley. And the Cubs don't need to be trading for more relievers.

enough about this stupid dropped third strike. it popped out of his glove for one second and he threw the guy out. stop making it sound like he kicked it around like benny hill and then threw it into the left field bleachers or something. where were the buxom blondes?

Well they didn't go out in 8 pitches, nice job rammy. Easily the best Cubs hitter, year in and year out.

For the past couple years, that would have been nice. But Theriot turns 30 this season and is going to start making arbitration money, meaning he is no longer going to be a nice cheap middle infield option. It might be best if next season were his last with the team.

I just wish it wasn't on the first pitch. The Cubs I know would come out the next inning and go 1, 2, 3 on 8 pitches, leaving Hampton's game total relatively low for somebody who is getting knocked around. I'd like to see them force him out of the game ASAP.

He hasn't thrown since July 24, but man has he sucked. ERA near 7 this year, over 11 in July.

I still remember the supposedly very smart Joe Girardi talking about, I believe Lieber, saying that he noticed he looked hurt out there several pitches, and possibly an entire inning, before he came out of a game hurt. These guys are too concerned with the immediate need to win today's game to be counted on to navigate the nuances of potential signs of injury. -
While I find it a bit silly...I think this is kinda cool seeing Soriano getting all giddy like a little kid when meeting/getting photo taken with an actor that he likes/admires. Makes him goofily more real.
