  1. I don't know that a lot would change with a new one. Bradford would probably go with the first pick and that would change a couple of other first round picks, but I haven't seen a lot of players' stock change from 4 weeks ago to now – not drastically, at least. Maybe we should start later next year, though. Didn't we do it twice last year? I think it's more entertaining, and you'll see a better pace, if we restart it soon, instead of going really deep into the draft. I was kidding a bit with the Bears pick coming up soon, but in reality, I don't see the point in doing one pick a day for the next month. It's not like doing multiple mock drafts is something strange.
  2. 07:$8M, 08:$14M, 09:$15.65M, 10:$15.75M, 11:$14.6M player option, 12:$16M club option ($2M buyout) Ramirez option kicks in after this season, and would guarantee him 16.6m for one year of work. (2011 salary plus buyout). Then the Cubs have an option to bring him back for 2012 if they want. There isn't much incentive for Ramirez to choose to stay, unless he's really banged up.
  3. Like when Paul Sullivan went on a spring training broadcast and called him a crazy person. But he is a crazy person. That has nothing to do with what CCP was talking about? I'm Ron Burgundy? Bradley is a complete ass. Referring to him as a crazy person instead of actually describing the details of how much of an ass he is is actually sugarcoating it for the audience, which allows people like you to pretend he's just a misunderstood genius. I think that was kind of nice of Sullivan.
  4. That doesn't mean they'll spend unlimited money. Every team has a budget. If they can apply the savings from Brown to getting a safety or o-line help, it could be worth it. Not cutting him though. There isn't a $5m player out there to apply that money to. The addition of Peppers means this line has a chance of being dominant again, but the subtraction of Brown would make that less likely.
  5. And if that is his attempt at a joke, it was lame, especially for the first post. He should have given a better effort.
  6. http://deadspin.com/5504386/tom-izzo-wins-the-weekend If I'm reading this correctly, the author is attempting to temper his Izzo celebratory article by saying that Michigan State only advanced to the finals of the tournament in two of the five times they reached the final four. This makes no sense to me. How is this a critical statement? That means they made the final four five times, which is an accomplishment in and of itself.
  7. Like when Paul Sullivan went on a spring training broadcast and called him a crazy person. But he is a crazy person.
  8. He denied that but I hope it happened. I'm Catholic and have no problem with his having fervent faith (it's great, actually), but shoving it down other people's throats is getting annoying. I agree, but I find it also as offensive that someone would tell Tebow to "STFU" when he's trying to lead a prayer. If you don't want to participate, so "no thank you" and move on. No need to be offensive to someone who is religious. There's no way that story is true. I dislike the guy as much as the next person, but I don't even think he's that big of a nut to lead a prayer before a test. He did a pro life ad for the super bowl, why would he consider leading a prayer too nutty?
  9. What an ugly list.
  10. At least put some effort into your 2nd post.
  11. Maybe one or two more picks.
  12. I don't feel bad at all, he's brought this all on himself, has relished every moment of the over the top praise, and whatever he makes of his post college football career, it's going to be based entirely on the myth making that has gone on to date. Without this, he's a washed up former playing selling cars in 15 months. With this he can pretty much do what he wants in the sports media world.

No need to be offensive to someone who is religious. There's no need to try and lead others in prayer, that alone is offensive.
  14. That's a very dumb statement. If just about anybody brought those guns into their place of work and let their coworkers know about their presence, whether it was a threatening or joking manner, lots of people would hear about it very quickly.
  15. The average player has less than 8 so that makes you comfortable standing by pretty much every player statement? That's just stupid.
  16. It started in 1998, but with all the sucking that went on in the following seasons, it began to die down until 2003, but it never really went back to previous levels.
  17. This thing started 4 weeks ago and has really stalled out. We're much closer to the actual draft now and should probably hit a restart to get a better one up.
  18. Sure, but the point is to be one of the best, not just better than the worst. The offense has weaknesses, the pitching staff has weaknesses. In past successful years they've had the best pitching, or the best hitting to carry them. I'm not just hoping for a 85 win season, I'd hope they win 90+, and to do that they need really good, not just good enough.
  19. This. If this team somehow manages to stay in contention until August, at least there will be an obvious spot for them to improve. Am I the only one who doesn't find that completely awful? Especially when Lilly is back we'll just have to deal with one of them making the regular 5th start. CCPacer put it really well that all we will really need is a serviceable 5th guy and we can pick from a group of guys that have been successful in the past or have potential to be good (Shark). Assuming the rest of them are healthy and pitching well.
  20. So does Plaxico.
  21. Gaub was in the last series of cuts. He'd probably be one of the first potential call ups if he gets off to a good start in Iowa. Stevens was sent down in the group before that but will likely be back for at least part of the year. Archer is still a couple of years away. I've found my new favorite prospect.
  22. when I read this, I thought southside must have said it. It's the ironic hipster in him, sort of the same reason why he pretends Bradley is a good guy. Haha, an ironic hipster. You've sure got me pegged. And I've never said Bradley was a good guy, I think he's an interesting person and probably more intelligent than most other ballplayers. He has serious issues that have helped him get in the way of himself along the way. Jim Edmonds is my favorite Cub because he was a key part of the best Cubs team of my life, came in as a midseason replacement, and played like a total [expletive] bad ass. And he did it all with the motivation of sticking it to our arch rival. And because so many people had a hard time accepting him. Admit it. JUST ADMIT IT!!!

  24. What's the status of the arms acquired for DeRosa? Any of them near staying?
  25. Whoa, slow down there, tons of fun. I hate outdoor weddings with skimpy little wooden chairs for this very reason, the fear of breaking one.
