  1. You insinuated that their future decisions will depend solely on past business environment instead of forecasted expectations for the future business environment. Sure, if somebody takes a bath they are going to be less likely to invest more in their company, but at the same time, if they weather the storm after being conservative for a couple years and see an opportunity to improve, they will invest.
  2. We could have used a few more days of chemical improvement, why so soon? Why?
  3. Not saying you're wrong, but then why wouldn't someone trade for him at the cheaper price? I'm not saying he would, just that he could. And it's yet to be determined if he will be traded or not. I still say a release is a bad idea.
  4. That's not very likely. So if a team has a bad year financially this year, they are likely to spend a lot of money in the offseason? That's not what you said.
  5. If they release him, he could easily make more in an uncapped offseason.
  6. It's the Raiders, there is no minimum.
  7. It was just an innocuous point, I'm not sure why it's created so many responses. There's a poll that had multiple options and it was dominated by a pretty crappy player. And he's probably not even going to get the job. It's easy to say "it's just the 25th man" but I don't think that's accurate. The 12th pitcher is just the 25th man. The 5th bench player is going to see time. Especially since he'd be the only other backup IF outside of Baker.
  8. That's not very likely.
  9. I voted for him. He's probably the best option, but he sucks. That was my point. I'd rather have kept an actual SS on the roster in Blanco. I'd be fine with keeping a bat that has limited defensive ability, the problem is none of these guys have a bat. Yeah, but they don't have Blanco anymore. Given the craptacular options available in the poll I don't see why it's so questionable or surprising that almost everyone picked Tracy. I wasn't saying it's surprising, I was just pointing out that it's a landslide in favor of a pretty crappy player.
  10. I'm trying to recollect who was a big Hart supporter on the site and can't really come up with any. Most people that I recall were consistently surprised that Hart showed up ranking high for BA and other publications. Seriously Peoriaman, I'm begging you to find me this bunch of people. Peoriaman doesn't care about the truth, he only cares about making it look like everybody else is loony tunes and he's the only sane fan with a decent grasp on everybody's ability.
  11. With Colvin making the team Fuld is completely worthless, not that he had much value before.

  13. I think the main hotels and restaurants are going to be packed regardless. Perhaps the spillover hotels on the outskirts that jack up $59 rates to more than double that for big events will see fewer people. But by and large, the people that were going to go and spend money are still going to go and spend money.
  14. A unanimous selection of a guy that had a 76 OPS+ last season and who hasn't hit worth a crap this spring?
  15. Of all the people I know that have been to a final four, exactly zero of them went because their school was in it. Isn't the final four attendance more or less determined in advance? People go to be there.
  16. Really, because you just said you could see him pushing them close to .500. That's not pretty good. McNabb has spent his entire career in contention with the Eagles. I cannot see him happily going to the Raiders to potentially turn them into a .500 team.
  17. I think safety and offensive line depth are more of a need for the Giants, but they've been having issues with their RB's between Jacobs bad 2009 season, he and Bradshaw having health issues and Derrick Ward leaving last year. I think they'd be fairly happy to take Toby Gerhart here after addressing D end and LB earlier. He might just be there to push Jacobs, or possibly replace him next season.
  18. As much as I'd really like to take the sister [expletive] here, I think that could be trouble with the NY media, and the Giants have other needs. Give me a few minutes to look into options.
  19. Depends on whether you weigh Xs and Os more than getting the talent to the school. Nobody does less with more than Coach K Coach K: 3 titles, 11 Final Fours Izzo: 1 title, 6 Final Fours Has Coach K had that significantly more talent than Izzo? And what, 15 more seasons? Most of those in the era before every John Henry College was making runs at the sweet sixteen.
  20. If he returns to 2007/2008 form, you think it would be hard for him to get $16m this offseason? In this economy? It's possible he does, but I don't think it's a lock like it would have been a few years ago. But we're talking 7 months from now, and the economy is likely past the worst stage, and teams have been very cautious for two years now. It's quite likely things will be looking up by this November, and teams that have been sitting and waiting will want to make a splash. Aramis is a very productive player, and if he bounces back this season, his resume would be terrific for a free agency.

  22. I'm not really concerned about depth, since they have a guy who can handle the short term placeholder spot, a soon to be ready prospect, and another prospect waiting in the wings. But I am concerned about seeing Fontenot play SS. It's one thing if he was a really good hitter who could make up for his fielding at the plate, but he's not a good hitter and he's not a good fielder, so I really hope he doesn't play any SS.
  23. They are making me more interested in the Cubs.
  24. He could probably get a 3/48-54 after this season, unless he bombs. I think that's better than 1/16.6 guarantee or 2/30.6 potential if he doesn't opt out. The success of the team probably matters to him as well. If they struggle and he's not crippled, he's opting out.
  25. The Steelers are having a bit of a Cincinnati offseason. Big Ben and now Santonio Holmes with the nightclub assault on a woman.
