  1. You can't say you actually don't hate it, the pictures are iffy and it looks pretty cool. You can say it's bad, it's okay, or it's good. It looks like crap here, even more crowded than the other angle. The banner is ridiculous, especially the dumb slogan. Why can't say all that? "don't hate it" indicates an overall favorable response towards the photos but not an overwhemling like. "the pictures are iffy" one thing he's not favorable about is the actual pictures used on the banners. This is something that hinders him from truly loving the banners. "it looks pretty cool", overall he thinks that hanging of the banners, including the horizontal banner that goes across the top of the marquee makes the exterior of the park look pretty cool. The pictures dominate everything. If they are iffy, it does not look pretty cool. And don't hate it is not overall favorable, it means not entirely negative. It's very obviously he doesn't think much of it, so saying it's cool at the end is pointless. Aside from the fact that it looks like crap.
  2. I don't see why he couldn't. It's not that hard of a stretch at all. He's only guaranteed $10m via baseball. It shouldn't be that hard for him to make that in 5-6 years in the NFL, assuming he was as good a receiver as some people thought he was. There's absolutely no reason why the time off should prevent him from being able to get back into football shape. He's not a defensive end or linebacker, he's not a QB, he's not playing the young man's instinctive position of RB. He's a receiver. Maybe he doesn't want to. Or maybe he won't work hard enough now that he's made millions in baseball. Or maybe the Cubs will hang onto him longer than they should, exercising the options and keep him around until he's in his late 20's.

  4. Shark featured on deadspin
  5. So you think it's dumb to wait for Colvin to prove he can handle the job before trading away Fukudome, but it makes sense to give him the job for a couple weeks and then decide if he's earned it?
  6. Ohman and Howry? Do they really belong on that list?
  7. He might end up being a starting corner OF in the majors, but first he would need to prove it before trading our starters to give him the job. Explain to me how you can prove you are a starting corner OF in the majors when you are always on the bench because of someone else having the starting job? Like I said before posts like this are dumb. There is no way to know if someone is good enough to be a starter unless you have him start a significant period of time. Some guys do great in small doses in platoons but then wear down and suck when playing everyday. Some guys are the opposite. Either way you don't know what will happen until he starts. But we do know that Colvin has been a professional baseball player for a while now and hasn't come close to showing he deserves a chance to start in the majors as a corner OF.
  8. That article mentions renovations including a new brick wall and sports bar -- anyone heard anything about these changes? I guess I'll find out on Monday but I'm impatient They had a new brick wall along the left field line (inside the park) and I believe the new bar was somewhere in the bleacher area.
  9. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/04/cubs-dressing-up-wrigley-field-for-opening-week.html So it's supposedly temporary, meant to built excitement for opening day and the Ricketts ownership, and they had to get permission for the temporary use.
  10. I've seen stand alone banners, but not 8 packed in tightly around the marquee.
  11. Why could you knock runs off his ERA based on his defense?
  12. Very cluttered. I'd rather see them in a single row spaced out evenly down the lines. What's the point of jamming them all around the marquee? It's completely out of place and tacky.
  13. BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE WHOLE STORY FIRST!!!
  14. Eating his salary and getting very little in return would be stupid. But if they have to eat his salary to get some really good prospect in return, that could be enticing.
  15. His contract only runs through 2011, and he only makes a couple million a year right now. Once his contract is up, and assuming the Cubs don't pick up options, I believe he will be arbitration eligible only, and not a free agent (unless turning down the options automatically makes him a free agent). So, after 2011, he'll be in his mid 20's and potentially done with baseball, or at least done making big money in baseball. If he works at it he could get a 5-6 year NFL career and double what he's made so far in baseball.
  16. That looks cheesy as hell.
  17. I'm not worried about Detroit. I'm worried about the Blackhawks. If they play their best, there's nobody that can beat them in the West.
  18. How many legs does a quarterfinal have? Is it one of those things where they just take the total goal differential after 2 games? Yeah. Two games, one at each team's stadium, and whoever wins over the two legs advances. Away goals is the tiebreaker. What's the next tiebreaker?

  20. Is this barcelona arsenal game on espn2 a big matchup?
  21. She better not get too attached, it's only a matter of time until Brett loses it in a custody battle.
  22. It's not like he has to turn into a linebacker.
  23. He's not going to make an NFL roster this summer. But I really don't think it would be that hard for him to get back close to what he would have been had he never left. It would be a lot easier than not pitching for 4 years and then trying to do that.
  24. Is that not a bloated record given the change in points system making it so much easier to get points post restructuring?
