  1. He's appeared in nearly every game and is on pace for something like 250 PA already. He's hitting .100/.308/.400 so far. I'm really not sure what the need is for him to get anymore time.
  2. R/L/R/L/R obsession. Soto is locked in at the 8 spot, which means Fontenot is a lock at 7.
  3. I've been called 3 times by the Devils in the past week trying to get me to buy tickets to this series. I made one purchase of expensive seats, which averaged out with 4 free seats meant they were cheap for our group and they think I'm a big spender and Devils fan.
  4. If he matches last year's disaster, it's possible. But I still doubt it. Back to back seasons of completely worthless production and then turning 35, they may start thinking about doing something like that. I would think they'd give it one more year after that. But if Jackson really comes on strong, and Colvin surprises to the upside as a role player, maybe they'd take the leap. Either way, they probably would have accounted for the liability of Soriano's contract when negotiating the price they play for the team. Remember, by many accounts it was $50-100m-less than was predicted.
  5. I don't see why you feel the need to state the obvious: nobody is arguing he's off to a good start. It's just stupid to boo him essentially every time he's going to make an out or any time a hit is made to LF. You guys are the ones who insinuated they were booing in inappropriate situations. I don't agree with booing, but they aren't just booing in the 1 out of a 3-4 day as was mentioned. If you feel I'm just stating the obvious then that means you disagree with your own words.
  6. ? Basically talking down how much booing he's getting. Ah gotcha. The boo'ing is out of hand already with Soriano, and its not going to get any better. It really is a joke when Soriano could go 3-4 with 3 RBI's but let him strike out that 4th at bat and the idiots at Wrigley will be boo'ing. I "get" when people boo him if he has one of his outfield screw ups or if he has a game where he keeps coming up in key situations and does nothing, but it's gotten to the point where he's booed for almost every out he makes or or almost any hit to LF. It's just stupid. It may be true that people will boo his only out in a big day. But the guy is following up last season's disaster with a 47 OPS+ so far, swinging at pitches 2 feet out of the zone, and clumsily running around the outfield with multiple mistakes. If he stops sucking the booing will probably stop. Although there's no good reason to boo in the first place.
  7. Rozner is a huge Maddux guy as well.
  8. quite good early, then started missing badly around the 4th or 5th and had no business being out there when he gave up the last runs.
  9. Or a buffoon.
  10. That was a weak groundout to 2nd in most situations. I'll take it nonetheless. It's just funny how people will consider that hit clutch but if somebody hits a much harder groundball right at somebody he sucks.
  11. At work, no TV or radio, haven't been following. What lovely sign? Who's the cat lady? middle aged scraggly haired woman with a: Theriot is worth $3.4m to me.
  12. My worry with the pen still remains Lou. I know I won't let that drop, but I'll bet you everything that Gray is already in the stupid "doghouse," nevermind it was his debut and in a high leverage situation. He's a guy that can really help this bullpen and he needs to be used (same with Caridad when he comes back). My worry is more with the starting rotation, which is going to throw 6+ with 100+ every single time out.
  13. .500, 3rd place, negative run differential. Not quite there yet.
  14. Jesus. that's Dustyesque. And LaTroy threw 39 pitches. Hahaha. It almost seems like an obvious situation where the other guy wasn't available. There was nobody warming up, right?
  15. Theriot must have been inspired by that lovely sign the cat lady had.
  16. Colvin decided to swing at the 2nd pitch before latroy got in the stretch. But he did a nice job holding on ball 2.
  17. If I find $1B I'll buy one and learn to be a fan of it.
  18. the crowd is going wild here
  19. Chesty Larue twins in the stands. Nady was just throwing his bat at everything. MLBTV is annoying me with nonstop Devils playoff commercials.
  20. Theriot liner to short, dropped, everybody holds, Fukudome liner to left caught, Baker scores Ramirez walks.
  21. he and prince must do some serious damage to local buffets. good thing ruben quevedo isn't still around. It's Wisconsin, I doubt the buffet owners bat an eyelash when those two come in the door.
  22. the real question is, do you bunt here?
  23. The only problem with the Casey thing is they could have held onto him and used him as cheap backup option instead of constantly spending millions on crappy veterans. But you couldn't get anything for him in a trade and couldn't even direct where you send him because few teams were going to have any interest. Not to mention there was no reason to worry about him hurting you.
