  1. What does position matter for a manager, outside of maybe pitchers and catchers?
  2. I really don’t want to see Poles trade picks for a middling veteran. His best trade of that ilk to date doesn’t look all that great now. I’m hoping Johnson has a positive influence in future drafts and maybe eventually takes over decision making authority, or at least gets a bigger say as time goes on.
  3. Over the past 4 weeks the giants have averaged 27.5 PPG against better defenses than Chicago will put out there. I’d say 23 points would be a mild upset.
  4. he was screened by two of his own guys and didn’t have a chance
  5. One more garbage opponent left to pad the win column before the real opponents show up. Chicago is a 3.5 point home favorite against the lowly giants, that have become frisky with Dart at qb but they’ve lost 3 in a row and have been outscored by 52. The Bears are 5-3 but have been outscored by a dozen. NY is probably going to score a bunch. Caleb & Co has to score a bunch+
  6. The competitive balance in the east is wild, 12 different teams in the east have 13 or 14 points. None with fewer. Nobody is under .500 (thanks to the loser point in OT) the west is more wide open, with 6 teams under .500 but the team with the most points has still skated off the ice disappointed by losing 6 out of 13 games (again, thanks to loser point).
  7. Taken one year after Nazar and 6 picks later in the first, he gets called up 6 weeks earlier than Nazar was last season. he’s ostensibly replacing Jason Dickinson who goes on IR. But is he going to get some top 6 time? Or will Blashill just use the 11/7 lineup to get Moore some time with Nazar and Bedard through the game as a modified 4th line?
  8. It’s not just me if you poll the football viewing world people would overwhelmingly agree that it was not OPI
  9. Guys running that fast down the field side by side go flying with incidental contact all the time. If that was a Bears receiver and OPI was called everybody would be livid. it wasn’t opi
  10. That’s a hell of a freaking catch also a reminder that without him getting injured and clock stopping in final minute bears probably lose
  11. What happened? I saw he had one blocked but made all the rest.
  12. That’s a wild ass game. I mostly listened to first half and saw some of second half on red zone. Seems like special teams shat the bed. Somehow Caleb only had 220 passing yards before the game winner. And then delivered a very nice throw with Loveland doing the rest. Good to see the tight end contribute, and KM running all over the bengals. Defensively, it’s not that embarrassing to give up that much yardage to Flacco, who has shown he’s capable of doing that and has big weapons. But the lack of pass rush 4 years into Poles’ era is embarrassing. Thank god Green Bay has two bad losses now and Detroit refuses to run away with the division. Keeping hope alive into November is mildly enjoyable.
  13. Fortuitous shift pre-snap
  14. They held the top wild card spot in the west until last night, and now they are tied with Vancouver (with one game in hand) for the 3rd position. They do still have a positive goal differential, but let’s see how long that lasts when they go into Edmonton without their two best defensive forwards. This could get ugly but I’m still hopeful they can remain interesting
  15. Every week we see no improvement the timeline for when it matters gets pushed back. Week 1 and 2 didn’t matter but check back in week 8. Week 9 doesn’t matter but check back in week 12. there has been no improvement. He’s gotten worse. Sure, he could improve eventually. But I have no faith that will happen. They have only played one good team so far this season and the results are not impressive. I don’t need to wait until they play actual good teams to express concern.
  16. Did you not read my post? It’s week 9 of year two and he’s regressing. There are zero signs of improvement. His limited successs this season has been escape jobs vs bad teams, with one big win against a bad team. He faced one good team this year and horsefeathers the bed. The schedule gets way tougher in the second half. I don’t see any signs of hope. The head coach has had success in the past but working with QBs nothing like Caleb.
  17. This isn’t a Eberflus thing. This isn’t a Flacco, Browning or Burrow thing. This is a Caleb Williams thing. He’s shown no signs of improvement and I have no faith in him turning things around. He’s had more weapons than any Bears QB in history and doesn’t want/know how to use them. They’ve only beat bad teams this year, they have a negative point differential despite only playing one good team. They’ve barely squeaked out two of their wins against two teams that have been outscored significantly. It’s week 9 of year two for a first overall pick. Caleb needs to be a lot better. It’s way too easy to list a bunch of names that are better than him at his position and that should not be the case.
  18. Bears might be slight favorites in a game most people assumed they’d lose back when Joe Burrow was alive. Joe Flacco has 7 TD and 0 INT as a Bengal but he’s listed as day to day. This Bears team has shown it does not really matter who plays QB against them. They can lose to anybody. A loss here puts a top 5 draft pick on the table as they might only get 1 or 2 wins the rest of the way if they can’t beat cincy.
  19. I did not expect 4 straight hawks goals, 3 unanswered Senators goals and then three more for hawks. Hatty and 4 points for Bedard. Nazar with a shorty. Crevier contributed, Rinzel and Bertuzzi were feisty. perhaps most importantly that was a game you cannot accuse Knight of stealing the win. That was the the skaters First win of the post Reichel era, too
  20. They’ve won 4 of their last 7 9 of their last 24 16 of 41 19 of 58 And they are likely to lose at least six more games this year, if not 8+. The man in charge of putting the team together has done a really bad job. That’s not sky is falling that’s just fact.
  21. I would bet millions of dollars that it was not 32/32
  22. I don’t care about Bagent. He’s probably no good. But if you wait until Caleb goes negative yardage before benching him then there is no point of playing NFL football games. he’s been awful. He wasn’t good last year and he’s getting worse, with plenty of support around him. This isn’t week 3. We’re in week 9 of the season. He had a terrible training camp and preseason. He has been subpar all season and he’s sinking fast. BJ has done his best work with a has been and odds are he’s gonna have to find a new one. They probably can’t go 2 more weeks with this level of ineptitude before losing the room. Caleb has to sit soon. Bagent doesn’t matter. Holding your QB to a standard of not being awful does matter.
  23. If you need a QB to be that bad before you bench him you have no standards and no chance at success
  24. But we are past the halfway mark of Caleb’s career in Chicago
