  1. Santos out again. Setting up pretty perfectly for some Moody Blues headlines Monday morning. Im just a kicker (in a foot and ball band) go now
  2. Competent veteran QBs have eaten this defense up for a few years and Flacco could definitely do that. But he hasn’t exactly been a consistently productive QB for a long bit. He has weapons now. So he’s probably going to get a couple big hits. But if this team is any good they should be able to beat the Bengals. But remember, the Steelers aren’t that good. They’ve beat up dregs of the league, and the one good team they beat was led by Carson Wentz.
  3. It was Nazar’s quote on live tv, referencing Bedard, while sitting right next to him.
  4. Reichel! And this blues goalie is prepared to give up a touchdown today
  5. Foligno taking some time away to be with daughter as she undergoes follow-up surgery related to congenital heart disease.
  6. I think a first year head coach won’t get the privilege of influencing ref calls that an established HC will get. It’s the same privilege of winning that veteran QBs get for roughing calls. If BJ can get through this season as a 9 or 10 win team then he’ll have more opportunities to do this type Of stuff down the road.
  7. The Bears remain in the basement of the NFC North as the only team with a negative point differential. But they are in the discussion for the playoffs as long as they continue to win, however ugly those wins may be, during this stretch against lower level competition. Chicago is a 5.5 point home favorite against the basement dwelling Saints. Plenty of crappy teams have beat good teams this season, and Chicago absolutely cannot afford to fall victim to one this week. Their three wins are against bad-to-mediocre competition, with no wins over a team currently over .500. We should expect a TD+ victory. But this team still has so many faults, and struggles to finish offensively even when they put together solid drives. This is one where they should be able to finish consistently. If they don’t, the likelihood of making the playoffs will plummet.
  8. That’s a surprise after Blashill said he’d probably miss a week
  9. Not sure why that wouldn’t help them win games. Aside from their individual abilities, allowing them to slot middle six and bottom six guys lower in the lineup rather than higher may be the biggest impact. 2 entry level contracts and Bedards manageable extension (assuming) will also make it easy to afford some other quality forward to slot into top six role (although they probably won’t do that)
  10. Sounds like Dach is moving up to Bedards line. He’s more of a physical presence than Donato, who’s going to the third line with Dickinson and Mikheyev, two of the best defensive forwards on the team.
  11. He is a useful goal scorer that shouldn’t be on an NHL rosters top line. But he’s not blocking anybody now and isn’t really tradable with his inflated cap number. Ideally one of Badards running mates is a high flying kid in the near future, and another player bumps him down to third line duty by next year. He’ll be gone after the 27/28 season. Maybe before if a contender needs secondary scoring (they all do) and hawks eat money.
  12. Last year they give up an empty net goal there. This year, they actually kind of have a chance to score. baby steps
  13. And while I agree that now is the best time to play the Ravens, but they don’t play them now. They play them at the end of this month which could/should allow them to get more healthy, including Lamar. If Lamar is healthy he’ll light them up
  14. How are you not including Saints as trash? If the bears are on their level they might as well blow this thing up
  15. In addition to the upcoming year he already signed for. three years in his prime taking ~60% of his market value. He could have easily gotten $15m for two years and been exalted for giving a hometown discount and making it easier for Bowman to round out the roster
  16. He is set to become a free agent at 31/32 now. He’ll get his bag in the next one when the cap is higher, but he’s taking all the risk and giving teams an excuse not to bid on him for his post peak years
  17. Holy horsefeathers that’s awfully low. like almost so low that it will not affect anybody else’s negotiations because it’s so far outside the realm of realistic
  18. Washington is 3-2, undefeated at home and has scored 33 more points than they have given up. They have one good win, an upset in LA over the Chargers and they are 3.5 point favorites over Chicago. The one thing Chicago has in their favor is the old east coast team coming back from the west coast and the Bears are coming off a bye. Jayden Daniels might not be able to exploit this defense as well as more established QBs should be able to. But I’m not seeing a Bears win here. If they pull off the upset the playoffs are still an outside shot, while a loss virtually eliminates them as they prepare for the second half onslaught of 6 likely losses.
  19. Kind of annoyed that Grzelcyk signed. A mediocre offensive minded LHD doesn’t rally do anything for this group.
  20. They have a slight chance of not being terrible this year. More likely than not they will be bottom 5. But this year will be with young players being exciting and dangerous but mistake prone, rather than a roster full of 2-5 million dollar garbage vets. The kids should start filling the roster and by the following season they should threaten a playoff run. there should be ~5 talented guys making their debut between now and 12 months from now along with the ~10 very young guys already in the mix.
  21. Wonder if there’s a way to move him to devils since they need to make room for Hughes’ new contract, take back a Dawson Mercer who hasn’t lived up to early promise but has more upside than Reichel.
  22. Luke Hughes 7 with 9 aav
