  1. A few years ago the Bears/Cowboys comp post Jimmy Johnson era were extremely similar. The end of the Nagy and Eberflus eras basically ruined that comp but all the talk of Chicago’s ownership situation sucking with Jerry regularly getting lauded based on team valuation rather than on field success never really made since to me. The difference has been they had Dak and Chicago did not. Caleb could quickly eclipse that level
  2. I don’t have a problem letting Monty go. I do have a problem following that up with signing a lesser RB to a bigger contract it made little sense at the time and has never looked like a good move since
  3. Shocked the offense dominating possession helped a lot, and the picks. But that second half was destined for at least two TD allowed. Might impressive work by Allen’s crew
  4. It wasn’t his “fault” but I’m not sure there was any way to call a penalty on the o line since the kick in the dick was unintentional
  5. They were legit nfl penalties. Justin fields would not have gotten the roughing call though
  6. Goal here is not letting Dallas score before half time you need a drive points would be nice a TD fantastic, but control TOP
  7. Have they had an absurd amount? They traded away second rounders. They had a bunch of 6/7 round guys a few years ago which are basically lottery tickets. If you look at the number of 1-4 round picks they’ve made its 2 extra in 4 years.
  8. Terrific start. Great poise by Caleb on flea flicker. Fortunate to hold them to 2 FG And then penalty leads to 3 and out Dallas gets into Bears territory with ease. You gotta get to the point where even if you don’t get any points on the third drive you convert a first down or two and flip the field.
  9. Winning NFL head coaches typically gain personnel power as things move along, with the possible exception of the guys who’ve taken Philly to super bowls. It’ll be interesting to see how long the current staff stays intact if/when the offense begins to click but the overall product stays bad. Unless they win fewer than 4 games this year I doubt they make a big chance, but if by next year the defense still sucks but Williams and Johnson are clicking, there’s going to be pressure mounting to do something about personnel. I assume they would be a little beholden to Johnson’s preferences if it comes to that scenario. But history suggests they hire a guy who gives Johnson a couple years before firing him and hiring a new defensive minded coach.
  10. I don’t necessarily think they’ll be terrible. I’m specifically talking about their inability to maintain drives. They’ll score a couple touchdowns, but they’ll probably have a nice drive wiped out by penalties and negative plays, leave points off the board and give the ball back in unfortunate circumstances. The week 1 game was lost by the three and out in the 4th after the Vikings scored. Any semblance of a drive there and they maintain a two score lead much longer, rather than giving up two tds in two minutes. They had a three and out earlier in the game as well. They went three and out their second drive in Detroit, gave up a TD next drive. Turned over on downs in 4 plays in the 2nd quarter and went three and out the first drive of 3Q. You can’t do those things against teams with competent QBs facing this impotent Bears defense. Barr minimum you need to get a first down and make the opponent start deep in their end
  11. The perfect storm was they were playing a bears D that came in mediocre at best with no pass rush and decent secondary that lost their best players. With an offense that cannot sustain multiple drives. The cowboys also get to play a bears d with no pass rush and a secondary missing their best players, and an offense that cannot sustain multiple drives. The Bears have been ripped apart by competent QBs in recent years and this team is no different. It would be shocking if they gave up less than 30. Dallas led the league in scoring in 2 of the past 4 seasons. They were third in one of those seasons and plummeted last year when Dak went down. Unless they find a guy capable of getting to and hurting Dak, they are going to be bad in this game. Dennis Allen did beat Dallas last year, but that was more about a Saints offense with Kamara running wild. I don’t see him pulling a magic act with this crew
  12. Has snap count been an issue for Loveland? I thought I read they lead the league in 12 personnel snaps and Loveland has been a big part of that. It’s targets that is the issue and there’s been a trend of Williams not targeting his TE. Turner and Burden both missed a lot of time to injury. Non-elite rookie WR rarely make an impact. And Turner may have just been poorly scouted, with effort apparently lacking.
  13. Wyatt Kaiser 2 years at 1.7 per. Seems like they got nothing by dragging it out so long.
  14. That would be good enough
  15. Probably, but I’m not sure the people on the bears who read those test results and images are qualified to do so
  16. They can’t be blamed for Johnson not being 100% going into week 1. They could share some blame for him being activated prematurely
  17. When the networks put the bears in national tv slots, they tend to regret it. Chicago is somehow a 1.5 point favorite despite allowing 27 points to a team that scored 6 the following week and 52 points to a team that scored 13 the week before. Dallas has already put up 60 points to the bears 45. Taking the over has worked so far this season. And these two teams have averaged 61.25 so far in their respective games. So maybe we’re due for a boring stinker of a low scoring game. But that would require the Bears stopping a competent QB, something they’ve rarely done in recent years.
  18. I would say this is probably correct on the margins, but you may be underrating the drafting side.
  19. So who do we think are candidates for the bears DC position this coming offseason? Dennis Allen was dealt a very bad hand but he’s not going to return at this rate
  20. Something is off with this teams presnap. It may not be his fault. But he’s gotta be part of the solution and he has not been yet a good nfl qb has to at least threaten to win one quarter, or make it a 3 possession game at some point. he’s not at fault for the loss and he wasn’t terrible so that’s nice but by no means was that effort good enough even in the “I know and accept the defense sucks and we will lose” mindset
  21. I don’t think 21 points, 19/30, 207 2/1 and 4 sacks is good enough, but it’s better than awful. The defense is going to get throttled with regularity. Caleb should have opportunities for garbage time stats and he should have had more.
  22. Spencer Knight 3 years 5.83 cap hit
