  1. I don’t mind the concept but until they actually find guys who are top 6 players there’s justifiable skepticism. Carolina has been so much better at actual hockey rostering than Chicago. If Davidson is actually any good at his job this team should he much better now. Not 4 years from now. He’s had a horsefeathers ton of first round picks. But it’s feeling a little buffaloish to me
  2. There’s our quarterback
  3. Again, they give up seemingly a lot to barely move up, from 34 to 29. Shades of the trade with islanders last year. Davidson has too many picks. He’ll just give them away now to move up a little
  4. Feels like Davidson likes to play fast and loose with the late first early second round picks. He’s got so many picks to use he doesn’t care about value.
  5. Sam Bennett stays with Floridia
  6. Tavarez back for 4 years with Toronto
  7. I am not concerned about his size. I mean, you can’t have an entire team of sub 6 footers but they should take the best players they can get. If you have 4 smallish forwards there are still 8 other forward spots to fill out with more size, and they have a ton of 1st/2nd round picks in the next couple years to use to acquire more size. But your top 5 picks have to be best player, not best player over a certain height, just best player. They need forwards that can be a threat to be stars. Right now they are just overloaded with bottom/middle 6 guys, they need guys that can be first line players. If he can be, he should be considered.
  8. Auction off the pick for best young forward available you cannot take Schaefer. If you do, everybody knows you have to trade some young D and their values plummet
  9. NHL and NHLPA reportedly have agreed to a new CBA which hasn’t been signed yet but should be announced soon. they will increase regular season to 84 games (+2) while reducing the preseason will be shortened to 4 (-2) and there’s supposed to be a rule that vets with 100 games played can only play in 2 games
  10. Scratch JJ Paterka off the list of potential draft day deals, he’s been dealt to Utah
  11. Oilers trade Kane to Canucks for a 4th rounder without retaining salary. That seems like a good move by Stan.
  12. Kind of an interesting destination for Zegras. And a cheap acquisition for Philly which severely lacks skill. He probably gets a chance to play center
  13. The athletic ranked every nhl roster’s center situation. Here is Chicago: 26. Chicago Blackhawks Current quality: 23rd percentile Looking for: High-end center, middle-six center Perhaps no team is better situated to have its needs met by internal candidates than the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard isn’t a high-end first-liner yet — but can he be? Obviously. And it might happen soon. Frank Nazar isn’t a quality middle-six center yet — but can he be? Obviously. And it might happen soon. Behind those two is Jason Dickinson, a solid bottom-sixer. In a perfect world, Chicago would add someone in the middle of the mix to stabilize things and help both Bedard and Nazar reach their potential. In the meantime, they’re closer to the bottom of these rankings than the middle.
  14. When people said don’t expect the Blackhawks to splurge on a bunch of middle six guys in free agency like they did last year, they were right. Instead they’ll just overpay somebody else’s free agent contract via trade. This is exactly the type of player they do not need. Was a 4th liner on a lottery team he could end up on the top line if this team by default though. But there’s a half dozen guys in same situation
  15. Good for him. Hope it works out. Gonna be a fun one when Winnipeg visits Chicago. At least they’ll have another sell out to fund the slow rebuild
  16. Blackhawks signed Donato, 4 years, $4m AAV. that sounds like a reasonable deal to me. He may have gotten a little more on open market, but this is a little more than some people suggested 4 months ago.
  17. That’s fair
  18. Every year people complain about ESPN talking about the NFL in the offseason. Every year people want to talk about the NFL in the offseason. the nba finals has two teams nobody cares about. Each nba draft has like 1 future star and 3 good role players but nobody knows who any of them will be. MLB regular season is 2 years long and nobody cares about anything but their home team. It’s a regional sport, not national. Nobody gives a horsefeathers about college baseball outside of like 6 small town campuses. I don’t watch espn talk shows, but if you do, and you complain about them talking about the one national sport in this country. You’re doing it wrong.
  19. Corey Pronman mocked the entire draft. He sends Frondell to the hawks in the first and then 6’1” LW Malcolm Spence at 25 and 6’5”+ Mason West at 34. He even has 6’4” Stepan Hoch going to Chicago with their other 2nd rounder, at 62 i get the narrative that with all the smallish fast guys they need size, but I really don’t want them passing on a guy because they think they are too small right now. Later in the first and in the second is where you get all your middle and bottom six guys. The top of the first is for potential superstars and you gotta take the guy with the best chance to be a star there. Go ahead and look for a type later. by the time these guys are all in the NHL, there will be other role players filling those spots. You don’t need two giants on every line. you take that same draft above and swap out Hagens for Frondell and you still have a lot of size on there
  20. That’s fine with me. the hawks traded Brandon hagel for a couple forwards and two first round picks that were destined to be late in the round. I’d like to see what they can get for Torontos pick this year and Floridas 1st next year. Maybe even throw in their own 2nds as sweetener, since they will still have their owns 1st and multiple seconds. The problem is there isn’t really a Blackhawks team obviously tanking and trading away good players in order to lose. Hagel would cost more in today’s market than he did a couple years ago.
  21. Oh. And future former Blackhawk Reichel made the German first 6
  22. USA Hockey announces first six for Olympics roster Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy on the backend Tkachuk brothers, Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel as forwards Nazar and Vlasic have outside shots of being added after a fantastic and decent World Cup effort, respectively
  23. Yahoo sports app is wrong, that’s unpossible Even shorter break then
  24. NHL- Wed/Fri/Mon/Th/Sat/Tue/Sat NBA- Thur/Sun/Wed/Fri/Mon/Thur/Mon I don’t get how you can say the break between games are long. One day off between game 1/2 and 4/5. Two days off between 2/3, 3/4 and 5/6. The only long break is between 6/7 the NBA uses 2 days off as a baseline and has the same 3 day break built into the 6/7 wait you made this post between game 1 and 2, when they had one day without a game (both of which went deep into OT)
  25. Depth for Rockford I guess
