  1. Baseball Trade Values has Cassie at 12.2 and Alcantara at 12.8. They have some value in a package deal. BBTV has Valdez at 12.8 and Sandy Alcantara at 22 as examples of what might be available for the right package.
  2. Now is the time to trade Cassie or Alcantara, while they have trade value. Getting a ML arm now instead of waiting until they lose their trade value.
  3. Obviously, you didn't ever look at Mickey Mantle's stats.
  4. They would have to eat about $170 for Ricketts to even think about it. He's owed about $22 million more this year and $254 million in the future. Maybe the Twins could trade Correa for Devers - Correa is owed about $28 million more this year and $96 million in the future.
  5. Because we have an owner and FO that doesn't believe in using resources to improve the team.
  6. Ryan is valuable according to BTV and the Twins are weak in the middle infield, so playing around withe trade vales I get: Ryan + Coulombe for Triantos + Rojas + Wicks + Alcantara
  7. "Middle of the pack" is your description of Jed and it's a good description of the Cubs during Jed's tenure. And yet our finances as large market are way above all the teams in our division and most of the teams in MLB and yet there is no success. Jed is in charge of all baseball operations, so why shouldn't he take most of the blame?
  8. Being the only big market team in their division and missing the playoffs every year certainly doesn't help your resume.
  9. I hope you're right, but I doubt it. Ricketts will be thinking about how many more buildings he could buy for $40 million a year for the next ten years.
  10. That's your definition. I have heard a lot of "earnest attempts" on FA offers according to the Cubs that don't even approach your definition.
  11. Who is deciding what "earnest attempt" means. The Cubs were all in on Bregman and then we find out they offered 1 year.
  12. The Dodgers or the Yankees better start getting their wallets out.
  13. Hoyer should have had a discussion with Ricketts about the likelihood of signing Tucker before making the trade. Paredes and Smith for 1 year of Tucker was an overpay then and still is now.
  14. Which is why it's crazy to refuse to trade some of the prospects that we're hoarding for the quality ML players we need to be an elite team.
  15. That example is so extreme that it's ridiculous. Of course nobody is going to that the second example is better because you avoided strikeouts, but what about using an example where one player is getting a 1B ,FO, GO, 2B, FO while the other is getting 1B, K, K, 2B, K. They both got 2 hits in 5 AB, but I would rather have the first player.
  16. Or a single, double, triple, HR, error, sacrifice, etc.
  17. Strikeouts are terrible. Putting the ball in play forces the defense to catch the ball and throw the ball to complete an out, while a strikeout is just an out and doesn't require the defense to do anything. Unfortunately, batters have gone to "swinging for the fences" with lots of strikeouts at the cost of making contact.
  18. Who is talking about trading Tauchman? For $2 million we could have a solid backup OF that could play all 3 positions plus give you a decent bat off the bench. Instead we're looking at two infielders with little or no experience in the OF and a rookie who is the epitome of swing and miss.
  19. Good riddance. He let Tauchman and Canario (both extremely cheap) leave and now he doesn't have a backup CF. He bragged about Shaw and then spent months looking for a replacement/insurance for Shaw. As for the bullpen, he believes in quantity over quality.
  20. I'm not sure Turner even brought a mitt with him to spring training.
  21. The owners that put winning over profits for the most part are owners of winning teams.
  22. You have to file in both states.
  23. I don't know why they haven't signed Canha yet. I guess Jed is trying to wait him out and save another $50.
