  1. I live about 1.5 hours away from Tampa. Seems to me that they need a real baseball stadium, they are playing in a tin can, in one of the most beautiful weather areas in the world. You can dress up a tin can all you want but in the end its still a tin can. Also they are spending less money than they are recieving from revenue sharing. They havent proven to thier fans that they are interested in winning by bringing in a top free agent or even close. Building from within is all well and good but at some point you have to bring some big pieces in from outside your organization. I heard alot of talk about how the new ownership was going to be different and how they would spend more money on the team, so far thats not very evident. With a nice new retractable roof stadium and some proof that they are willing to spend money on players (even if its just keeping thier own talen ie Carl Crawford) I think baseball would really thrive in Tampa. I detest AL baseball, thats the one real reason Ive never gone to a game down there, that and that the Cubs havent played there yet, when is that going to happen?
  2. I remember hearing basicly the same things about Harvey when he was drafted.
  3. Another good start thrown away by the Cubs hitters. Very sad, Hills is awesome.
  4. game over Cubs lose another game by 1-2 runs. This is getting pretty ridiculous
  5. No I won't hush. The game that the American League plays is not baseball. Baseball is this awesome sport where everybody who takes the field, bats, and vice-versa. This does not happen in the American League, therefore it is not baseball. The DH was invented, IIRC, to curtail the competitive disadvantage that the American League possessed compared to the National League. Well, hey, guess what, it worked. Now get rid of it. To bad the union in thier almighty power will never allow it to be removed. Maybe if the owners allowed another roster spot to compensate or something but I just seriously doubt it will ever happen. The DH sucks, its not real baseball in the AL its like some artificial form of something resembling baseball. There are many threads about this topic though if you really want to see what most people on the boards here think of it.
  6. Sorry Tim, but we cant call you up Russ Ortiz is the future of the Giants.
  7. My 1 and only loss was by 1 point =(
  8. Lately there have been a bunch of guys that work the count to 3-1 or 3-2 then swing at ball 4, thats so gut wrenching to watch, especially when the pitch is not even remotely close.
  9. I'd definitely take Wieters. I thought so, Callis comments dont make much sense to me. I hope Wieters does fall to us. I guess it all comes down to what KC does with that 2nd pick. Callis is just guessing. everyone loves vitters bat, everyone. i could see it happening if they dont think wieters can stick behind the dishTo me, that's the key. If Wieters can't stay behind the plate, then I'd go with Vitters. Who's to say that Vitters sticks at 3rd (isnt that where he is playing currently?). I thought I had read some things about his defense needing improvement. The last highschool 1st rounder we drafted couldnt handle his possition either.
  10. I hope we saved some runs for tommorow. This was a great game, wish I could have seen it on TV.
  11. man... Cardinals announcers are brutal. Wainright hasn't exactly been lights out and all they can talk about is how impressed they are with him. I dont know how much more of them I can take.
  12. Same here. thirded. somebody said they may get rain in new york saturday, anybody heard if it'll get rained out and they show the cubs instead? Pray for rain in NY or Bos, wherever the heck they are playing. Im equally screwed down here in FL they are showing NY/Bos game. *sigh* I guess I get to listen to the accursed Cardinals broadcasters on XM.
  13. I'd definitely take Wieters. I thought so, Callis comments dont make much sense to me. I hope Wieters does fall to us. I guess it all comes down to what KC does with that 2nd pick.
  14. Raisin how do you rank these players? After Price I mean. If Wieters and Vitters were still on the board at our pick would you take Vitters?
  15. Sending Cedeno down seems like a no-brainer to me. The guy hardly ever plays as it is anyway and when he does he's not very productive.
  16. No Its an issue that is completely made up by liberal tree huggers. There are as many scientist that dont believe it is a problem as there is that do. Liberals cry louder though and its in alot of people's nature to believe that the sky is falling when they hear someone say it that it is without researching the situation. Since the media is largely controled by the liberals global warming is all people hear.
  17. How is he different than the last couple of HS kids we drafted in the 1st round? *sigh* I really hope not. he supposedly has a polished approach at the plate. Anyway, if you don't pick him, who do you go with? I'd prefer Vitters over Brackman. Ditto. Vitters is good. Sure they said the same thing about Montenez. I dont know who else they would take though. I keep hoping that Price or Wieters fall to us. Taking a highschooler is so much more of a shot in the dark.
  18. How is he different than the last couple of HS kids we drafted in the 1st round? *sigh* I really hope not.
  19. He could probably put up better numbers than Wade Miller lol I didnt think Koufax was still alive, how old is he now?
  20. Looking at where they have Eric ranked really leaves me scratching my head. I hope he turns out to be that good but I just dont see it. He certainly is off to a bit of a slugish start.
  21. I find it odd that they rank Sean Rodriguez ahead of Brandon Wood in the Angels system.
  22. I guess Tori never even saw the ball coming. Its rare for someone to get hit in the face I think, dont most people turn their head?
  23. thanks Mooch
