  1. Im going to need a whole lot of Red Bull for Fri and Sat mornings lol Oh well, I guess its better than missing the games cause they are to early.
  2. it would be 8:30est on Wednesday...they don't have a later start time than that for Wednesday. But yes...10:30est on Thursday appears to be the rumor. the trib site is running this: Id much rather see at least the Wensday start be at 8:30 est instead of 10:30. So at least I get some sleep 1 night. I get up at 5 am for work lol Im gonna be a walking zombie by Friday morning if both games start at 10:30 est.
  3. So games would start on wen and thur at 10:30 est? Ugg that is horrible. Have to stay up till like 1:30 am to see the game. They should never start playoff games that late. I hope that info is wrong.
  4. yeah jjg, my memory is foggy. The 98 team was basicly Sammy and Wood. I should never really coment about anything that happened further in the past than yesterday, thats how bad my memory is. 03 is the only team really fresh enough for me to even remember the rotation. Id have to think really hard to remember the 89 roster... hmmm Mitch Williams, Jeff Pico? Salazar?... Wasnt Damon Berryhill on that team? Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, I remember very little about the starting pitching, I think Maddux was there and Sutcliff? mmm Jerome Walton and Dwight Smith hahaha those were the days. Ok Im smelling smoke, better stop before I burn something out.
  5. This is a joke, right? lol I think I was confusing 98 and 03 or maybe I was just overly opptimistic that year. Its all a jumbled mess in my mind now. Im just saying I have felt better about other Cubs playoff teams than this one. My memory is not so great. In 03 the combo of Prior/Wood/Zambrano made me feel like we could pretty much beat anyone, but all 3 of them failed us in that series against the Marlins. *sigh* Here's hoping this run goes better.
  6. Our offense has taken naps against pitchers all year that they should have pounded the crap out of. This is why a best of 5 series scares the heck out of me. I have more confidence in our pitching to show up than our hitting. Even Lou has said how we do will depend on how our offense does. If the bats come through then we should be fine. It would help if Lou starts Geo and Marquis never sees the mound, I guess we'll see. Playoffs scare the hell out of me, I'll have no fingernails by game 3. I thought we would win the World Series in 98, and the 03 team had great starting pitching... we came up short both times. Ive seen mediocre teams beat great teams in the playoffs, if there is one thing I am sure of about playoffs its that its a complete crapshoot. Im going to try to enjoy it win or loose. Of the 4 Cubs playoff teams I have seen (89,98,03) this one is probably the least impressive to me but who knows maybe they will come out on top, if that Cardinal team could do it anyone can.
  7. Neither were the Marlins
  8. Whats going to stink is when the games overlap into each other. I dont want to get stuck watching an AL game while the Cubs are playing thier game just because its not over yet.
  9. I heard a sound byte today with Lou saying that they plan on using Rich as the 3rd starter in the playoffs. That being said how does everyone feel about our chances with him on the mound against Arizona? I know its not a sure thing that we play the Diamondbacks but that seems the most likely senario. What are his numbers against the D-backs?
  10. This is the part where our offense lays down and dies, and we lose 5-4
  11. Can someone please explain to me why Jason Marquis is still in this game? This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen? WHY? WHY? Why in the world would you leave him in there when he's not had a decent inning the whole freakin game? WHY?
  12. Luckily I get Fox Sports FL or whatever its called cause I live in the region so I can get any of the 3 games against the Marlins, only I have no idea how brutal the broadcast will be. I wish that XM would broadcast the last 6 games by the Cubs announcers instead of the home team like they always do.
  13. When do we start seeing Vitters name in Mesa boxscores?
  14. So that means the Cubs didn't actually take on any money whatsoever in this series of catcher trades. They saved about .97 million from Barrett, paid approximately 70K to Bowen for his month, and then are going to pay the remaining 900K in savings they got to Kendall. Go figure. So, can the Cubs still add salary? They keep insisting they can. I'm sure you heard the report on ESPN last night that they were assured that the Cubs had "a lot of flexibility to add payroll" at the deadline even with the ownership change. It remains to be seen what that really means. Even if you have the flexibility you have to find trade partners who have what you want and are willing to give it to you in a reasonble trade. If we cant find that people are surely going to whine about the Cubs not being willing to add payroll. Sometimes there's just nothing availible for a reasonable price.
  15. I feel the same way, I think at worst its a wash and Kendel is just Bowen with a different name. We may have thrown away a solid bulpen prospect but thats not the end of the world. Who knows maybe switching leagues re-energizes Kendel and he is able to have a great second half. I dont really see this as something to be horribly angry about.
  16. My thoughts exactly. Mine as well. You don't give up one of the top pitchers in baseball for propects coming to an organization whose player development is sketchy at best. I haven't heard a single prospect trade idea that makes sense and improves the Cubs more than keeping Z. If you're talking about swapping him for A-rod or another equal value bat, it's a different story. Trading Zambrano for a ML ready SS that can and will hit, and will be under our control for a long time makes all kinds of sense. Brandon Wood? Sign me up. Is it a little bit of a gamble? Sure, there is no such thing as a "can't miss prospect" but its also a gamble to go into negotiations with a player in an open market with a bunch of teams that are desperate for starting pitching. Id rather have years of offensive production and a guy at SS that looks like he's going to be an all-star than lose Zambrano for nothing. Which is more likely to happen Wood becoming great or Zambrano signing with someone else? My money is on Wood.
  17. They need to trade him while his value is high. Should be able to aquire some incredible talent for him by the time the trade deadline gets here, I hope they do it.
  18. Ive heard a couple of people say they dont expect Vitters to be able to stick at third, and to expect him to move to the outfield at some point. I think it was Callis that said that, but Im not sure. I think I also just butchered the spelling of Jim's last name.
  19. lol thats not a very intelligent theory. Vitters wont likely be a major leaguer (if he ever is) for another 4 years or so. Who knows what kind of player Aram will be in 4 or 5 years.
  20. Wieters goes to Baltimore. I dont like the Vitters pick but hopefully he turns out better than our last few highschool possition picks. BTW, there arent many highschoolers who have great television presence. He came across like most high school jocks. I just hope he's not another Montenez or Harvey. People thought those guys were pretty good at the time to. High school possition picks are a real shot in the dark.
  21. oh well, in all honesty I wasnt paying enough attention, I thought I had counted it out correctly at a point earlier in the week, but I guess I was wrong. I cant beat anyone cheating or not this year so maybe I should just set my roster and find something more entertaining to do with my time.
  22. Watching Barrett go postal would at least be entertaining enough to make the game worth watching... maybe
  23. Marmol's been moved to the pen. Ahh, thanks. I just read that. John Webb has moved to the starting rotation instead. Meh. Im guessing this is because the Cubs are in dire need of some bulpen arms that can get people out on a consistent basis.
  24. This team is just as bad if not worse than last years. We have no bulpen. We are going to lose alot of games.
