    A little part of me died inside when he started talking about "talent players" v. "effort players" On Sportscenter before the game, he said "The Cardinals believe in themselves, and that's all that matters." I'm sure the Royals believe in themselves, why aren't they in a pennant race? Hell, the Reds had to be believing after Dusty got hired, where are they? LOL that sounds just like Cardinal fan rheortic to me. :lol:

    Must be nice, I have 2 years left on my contract with Dishnetwork, so I cant even buy ExtraInnings much less watch the free preview. I feel like Im never gonna get to see Harden as it seems like his games are never on WGN.

    It wont be hard, we wont score any runs and Harden will only go 5 or 6 innings, then the Bulpen will allow 3 or 4 runs.

    CaliforniaRaisin: can you ask over at TCR if Arizona Phil spotted a gun reading on any of Shafer's fastballs? Im not registered over there and really dont want to hassle with it.

    It sounds like someone made a mistake and forgot some paperwork. We signed the guy and didn't report it correctly. Maybe there was just a break down in communication and one person thought the other person was going to turn the paperwork in and vice-versa. This really seems like its not a big deal. *sigh* Because its the Cubs they will blow it all out of proportion. They cant void the contract can they?

    meh, thats dissapointing. Whats to keep guys from just pitching around Soriano in these games anyway, Im sure he's probably looked at as the most dangerous bat in the lineup. Im guessing he's gonna need a couple more games before he's ready.

    I wonder if there is anyway we'll get a report on Shafer's velocity today, thats my main concern with him, I guess i shouldn't expect it to be there right away, but if he can get back in the low to mid 90s it sure would be nice.

    Its kind of a no lose situation as long as the Cubs win they'll gain ground on someone. I tend to hope the Cardinals sweep in a way due to the impending Cardinal colapse. You just cant take a bunch of crappy players off the junk heap and expect to make the playoffs. A large portion of those players have to revert back to near career norms causing a long losing streak at some point. It boggles the mind how many minor league journeymen and mediocre-to-crappy majorleaguers they have playing way over there heads. 1 or 2 of these types is not unheard of but comprising half your roster with them... thier luck cant hold out.

    It seems like they have alot of guys playing there that should be at a higher level, but I feel the same way about Mesa.

    Am I the only one who thinks thats a terrible comparison? No you're not. And no I wouldn't make that trade. Neither would the Rockies, unless controlled by an XBOX with the no AI trade flag turned on. This is somewhat off topic, but would either of the good baseball games out this year allow you to make the Harden trade for the players involved with the AI trade flag turned on? I dont have mlbTheShow or the other one (I forget the name) for 2008 and one of the things holding me back is that the rosters will be fouled up and since I dont have broadband internet I cant just download an update. Unless I can throw it on a usb stick at the office and bring it home (have a PS3).

    Well Chad Gaudin is a stud, hopefully that doesnt mean Lou will pitch him every single game from here out and ruin his arm.

    Well this one was over when Derosa over ran the ball (in the third?). *sigh* why are the WGN games always the crappy ones?

    Usually when something goes wrong in a game like today I eat alot of icecream it helps me to forget... Today I was so sick to my stomach I couldnt even eat icecream. If there is such a thing as a dissapointing win this was it. I still feel a little sick.

    Jim edmonds sucks, I wish they'd release him and call up Pie, he cant be any worse offensively and his defense would be tons better.

    Looks like we are going to have to outlast Cain and hope we can beat up on thier bulpen. Hopefully Marquis can keep this up for a while, avoid the nightmare inning... or getting hammered by a line drive *sigh*

    Did anyone reach base against Marquis in the 4th? I was busy throwing things after the bottom of the 3rd.

    I dont see why all the freaking out. I understand if they want to rest him till after the all-star break makes sense to me. If he's been having the dead arm issue and he's tired from not having played a full season in years why not just let him skip a start? We want this guy healthy and strong for the second half. Marshall has been doing a great job, I really hope they put Marquis in the pen instead of demoting him. Rest Harden, Id rather have him healthy and strong for when we need him the most.

    What is intersting about Randy Wolf? The guy is a nearly worthless piece of crap. That would make about as much sense as trading for Traschel did last year. *sigh* Randy Wolf yuck, Sean Marshall is about 3 times better than Wolf. Hes worse than a left handed version of Marquis and he plays in one of the better pitchers parks in the NL. I dont understand Hendry's infatuation with him. We have no need for Wolf. The thought of it makes me sick to my stomach.

    LOL At least she didnt just laugh and hang up on him. Jim is pretty much always in his office working on something and talking to someone. Proably her nice way of saying Jim doesnt have time to talk to any fan that decides to call the ticket office looking for him.
